This is exactly why I switched over Classic Cover with an agreed value a while back. Value going up up up and major insurance company treating it like any other car wanting to reduce the insured value each year.

Welcome to bimmersport! The car looks good! BMW's are a great platform to learn, lots of great information and resources out there to learn as you go.

Yes I have thank you! Running across those photos were what started me looking down the Nogaro route. I hadn't previously considered them really, but upholstered like that they look pretty close. Hopefully I can figure something out that keeps everyone happy. Am in the middle of sorting out fabrics, etc. and finding out what can be done, so hopefully something in this space in the not too distant future! Thanks again for letting me hijack your thread 🙂

Thank you very much for your reply and for taking photos for me! Gee it’s very close to 300mm! Yeah I’m thinking of maybe going the Nogaro route to retain the OE seatbelt routing (likely with custom upholstery to make them look more like the CSL seats). I would love to go with the Recaros being the manufacturer of the CSL seats, but I’m planning to keep my car otherwise stock, so I’m looking to avoid the need to cert. Assuming I do manage to get 300mm, I’d then just need to look to solve a lever to slide the seat forward that is accessible from the rear. My car is a weekend car and I never have anyone in the back seat, but obviously need to keep things legal and keep the WOF man happy. Thank you so much for taking the time to reply and share your knowledge - much appreciated!

The seats look awesome! How much more travel do you get with the sedan sliders. Is it enough to give you 300mm of access to the rear seat? Am trying to plan options to keep the WOF people happy 🙃

Some “pieces of plastic” in my wife’s words arrived today. She’s right, they are pieces of plastic, but they’re special in that, unlike my current ones, these ones don’t have any scratches on them. Was struggling to find them in stock anywhere so jumped on a pair I found being sold out of Lithuania. they arrived and they have a manufacture date of end of Jan this year, so they can’t be THAT out of stock haha.

Not sure how that would have changed the outcomes of the examples you have posted?

Looks great! Congratulations - as Twistee says would be great to see some more photos!

I've managed to stay out of this so far, but dipping in here to point out that this is factually incorrect. All police vehicles have firearms in the lockbox in the boot. Officers can access these if needed.

Thanks very much! Yeah it’s been a hard road, but also very rewarding! thank you - I’m scared to touch it haha - will be putting on the car at some point, but not until the car has had a bit of a clean up!

Thanks - very happy with it. Just on $1000USD including shipping, customs, etc. 😬

Section 4.1 point 3 relates to scrutineer approval labels (a label to denote that the helmet has been inspected and approved). Not labels that are approved by scrutineers.

Yeah so nice! I didn’t realise how worn my old one was until I felt the new one!

Nice surprise this morning! This arrived much sooner than expected! I didn’t realise just how worn the old one was until I saw what they look and feel like brand new! Expensive purchase, but going to make a big difference to the driving experience.

If I right click on one of the broken images, copy the URL and paste it into the browser I get this: So looks to me like wherever the image was displayed originally uses some sort of content management platform that generate a time-limited URL for the content. A quick look on google suggests that both Instagram and Facebook (not surprising given they're the same company) use time-limited URLs for images stored on their CDN. The way to reliably overcome this would be to save the image to your device and upload it to bimmersport.co.nz (however be aware that that will add additional load to storage requirements)

Update #27 Dad dropped off the PLA test print on Saturday morning (can’t beat that for customer service!) It’s turned out really well. I have one small modification to make (points for anyone who can spot what it is), but aside from that it’s spot on. Dad has ordered a hardened nozzle for his printer (so it can handle the carbon fibre) and some filament so once that’s arrived we’ll be able to do a test print of the end product!

JL Audio in NZ and E90 Base Audio Upgrade
Karter16 replied to MilesP's topic in Audio & In Car Entertainment
JL Audio’s website lists these guys as the distributor for their car products. I’d suggest contacting them and asking where you can purchase. https://www.zeroflex.co.nz/ -
Thank you very much for that Brent! I'm very grateful - really appreciate you taking the time to post. Two different chassis even for a larger sample size! Thank you! Matt

Hi all - am hoping that someone with an NZ new E46 M3 might be kind enough to help me with this. At some point (prior to my ownership) the car had a partial respray which included the driver's door jamb. Whoever did it didn't do a particularly great job, but more to the point the stickers (VIN/manufacturer sticker, tire pressures, Airbag warning, etc.) on the door jamb weren't replaced. I'm looking into this now as I continue with plans to restore the car to its original state as much as possible. I have scoured the internet but to no avail - What I'm hoping someone who owns an NZ new E46 M3 might be able to do to help me is to take a photo of their driver's door jamb for me showing the location, orientation and detail of the stickers (feel free to obfuscate VIN, etc. if you don't want to share on the internet!). I would be very appreciative and will sing your praises in this thread 🙂 Cheers, Matt

Update #26 Well I got notification today that the new steering wheel has shipped - should be here in a couple of months! The other day I decided to re-investigate why the rear bumper/diffuser sits so terribly on my car. I say re-investigate as I did look at it a few years ago when Dad and I were doing all the under-body work on the car, but I'd forgotten since what the issue was. Got under there with a torch to see that the plastic brackets that are glued to the Kevlar support bar had all detached, and only a couple of them were still screwed to the bracket on the bumper itself. I removed one, and did some investigation on the internet (although I suspected I already knew the answer). Because the brackets are glued/plastic welded to the kevlar support the whole thing is one part number and you can't purchase individual replacements. I could hunt down a wrecked one and try pull the bits, but didn't particularly like my chances, and thought it was a good opportunity to try putting Dad's 3D printer to use. The original part is helpfully labeled as PA6 GF30 which means it is a Polyamide 6 plastic with 30% glass fibre. There is a 3D printer filament available which is a Nylon 6 (Nylon is a type of Polyamide, so Nylon 6 is pretty similar to PA6) with 25% Carbon Fibre. The printed end result is supposedly stronger than the same thing made out of aluminium, so it should do the trick for this application. I quickly brushed up on my very rusty CAD skills and knocked this up this evening. It was pretty enjoyable to make. The original having presumably begun life by being drawn in CAD by a BMW engineer it was nicely spec'd in whole millimetres, so was easy to reproduce. The most difficult aspect was just that the bridge and the legs are not quite in the same X-Y plane. I've shipped this off to Dad for him to run a test print in PLA. From that I'll check and make any necessary adjustments, but I'm pretty confident it's spot on. The only thing I haven't drawn at this point is the holes in the legs. I'm undecided at this point whether I rivet or plastic bond to the kevlar support. If I go the plastic bonding route then the holes may prove to be unnecessary. Till next time.

Thanks for that - yeah it's been crazy. I tell my wife that they wouldn't write us as a story line in Shortland St - too unbelievable 😂

With Classic Cover - to be fair I'm pretty low annual mileage - have put 14k on the clock in 6 years - so it works out most cost effective for me.
