Yep, he's not the best marketer... those interested in a CSL will reach out to him regardless but yes, he may end up repeating himself a few times...
-
If you could, cheers sir. I was just wondering about head space... could I get my eye close enough? I might have a look over the long weekend.

Hang on, the $38k e36 3.0? If so, are you saying it was $38k with a "fair amount" of interior work needing doing? ? And you know the owner? And you're letting them market it for $38k? ? What am I missing?
-
Yep, you can now legally import 3.0 M3's to the US... 2 more years (?) and they can import Evo's.
-
I think Aus will be a challenge for compliance reasons, even if they sold them there new? I'm not sure but I think there would be a steep import cost. I stand to be corrected but I remember reading about nightmares importing R35 GT-R's even though they were sold new in Aus. UK is a likely destination as that was where it was originally sold and the owner travels there frequently so could personally meet potential buyers which would make a huge difference (to perceived risk). Has full UK and NZ dealer history.

No... I wonder if there's an endoscope in the 'tools for hire' thread... I'm hoping KBM (Kayne Barrie) will be doing my M3 diff (3.64) in March, I'll have a chat with him, he may even be willing to poke around and provide an opinion.

Yep, that's my mate's one... back on the market after sell, keep, sell, keep, sell, keep, sell conundrums... it's not a money thing for him, it's a passion thing, he has enough cars. I'm proud to say that many of the recorded miles are mine ? and it drives like it should. Sure, an M2 is faster but this feels far more focused. This in one of very few that have almost all options deleted from new, the build sheet is bare. I think you could get them without radio also and if that's the case then the radio is the only option this has. The CSL is all about weight after all... try find another one without aircon! Owner's contact details are on TM but if anyone I know from here needs an intro so he knows you're not a tyre kicker then send me a PM.

Back to this, since I buried my head in diff info today. It's actually the other way around according to a few sources inc. RealOEM - manual is 3.46 and auto is 3.64. So you need to find an auto diff to pull apart and steal the CW&P Chris! IMHO and assuming mine is stock (3.64) then 3.73 would be just silly.

Pics or it didn't happen... ? Welcome and nice choice of platform, the 1er is getting some love around here at the moment. But pics.

OMFG, that's so true and so f**kin' funny. They'll put the price up to $50k now! ?

What's it worth? E36 M3 Evo rolling chassis and broken engine...
M3AN replied to M3AN's topic in General Discussion
I'll pass it on tomorrow morning. I've already got an interesting selection of offers to discuss and I'll be as transparent as possible. It's not actually on the market yet but this is the only place it's being officially discussed. I'll try and get some pics. Yes, chassis is straight. -
Seriously, that sh*t is why I smoked B&H for 15 years. The stuff of legends.

Changed all the interior lights (except for the ambient lights) to LED's for a fresher look although it took me 90 mins thanks to German (over)engineering... Both centre lights All four reading lights Footwell lights Glovebox light Boot light I'm happy with the result.
-
Installed 12 interior LED lights in the 130 to match the exterior. No codes, pretty happy. Only ze Germans could make changing a light bulb so complicated... it took me ~90 mins to change 12. When the instructions start with "get a T20 driver" you know it's going to be more complex than it really should be... lol. But another 'Fun 1' win and I love the contrast with the ambient cabin lighting. Edit: oh, and I discovered there's a 12v power socket in the trunk which is a nice feature.

Is this the current e30 M3 bench mark in NZ or not?
M3AN replied to beemwr's topic in TradeMe discussions
Trademe is surely the best place to advertise it in NZ (classified, not auction). It's probably also the worst place to sell a high value car in NZ. If something noteworthy goes up on TM everybody in NZ with any interest in it will hear about it... then it's all a matter of how the conversation goes outside of TM. -

I agree about the suspension, probably not adding value. Rack is a good one but it's not going to make a significant difference to the price I agree. Six speed and original 210 diff will be worth well over a grand combined, diff alone is probably $800+ and 420G trans would be worth quite a bit on the open market, maybe $1,600+. Perhaps. Naa, a rebuild won't cost that much (unless you want to blueprint it), you could land a used engine from Germany for NZ$6.5k if you shop around. Assuming pistons and crank don't need to be replaced (I'm not sure) then you're probably looking at 3.5k for a rebuild. Top end, head, tray and cams can be had for around 2.5k. Running gear is in perfect working condition... no doubt due a distance-related refurb though. But I'm not saying this thing is worth heaps, and I appreciate your opinions... and yep, distance travelled and general wear and tear is a real factor to consider. All good food for thought, thanks. Keep 'em coming, lovers or haters. -
Now this will be interesting! GLWS. ?
-
So, spill the beans, no need to keep it a secret since you've already let the cat half out of the bag...
-
Wut? You're saying I can have fast and reliable? ? Where? ?
-
Not mine... Black E36 M3 Evo with high km's (think 250k miles) and some mods; coilovers, big brakes, e46 M3 front arms, camber plates, genuine GruppM intake, carbon fibre bonnet, Z3 rack, probably more. Interior shows its age but I've seen worse. Never raced (on a track at least). Engine (S50B32) has a warped head (badly overheated) and is out of the car and in pieces, no work done. Might be too much of a project for the owner, they've yet to decide. I thought $10-12k but I might be dreaming... What's the community opinion? I appreciate that without specifics and pics the range might be wide but I can work with that to start with so give it an earnest guess.

Has anybody been able to look at this? It's still broke (and annoying). In fact, if nobody changed anything then admins should actually be quite alarmed and tracking the cause down should be a priority in an age of cyber awareness and the need to understand all changes, planned or otherwise, to your online environment. If nobody knows perhaps raising a ticket with Invision is a smart idea? The Homepage link in the navigation banner is also broken... it links to http://bimmersport.co.nz/index.html/ and that's a recent change also.

I believe the red side is the temp at which the oil reaches it's operating viscosity, yes. Obviously it can stay at that viscosity at much, much higher temps than on the chart.
-
What type of work that added up to ~20k?
-
No, it's 100% not necessary. 0W will provide "required" lubrication at -40*C... it't not necessary, and indeed inefficient, for any plausible NZ condition. Here's a good chart (for the 'w' specification at least):
