  1. A nice buy for someone! Turners link Would look the business on some different wheels.
  2. Yes, I agree that Autocar is good - but it could be a hell of a lot better. I needs more used car coverage and more actual reviews - not just tweaking car company PR releases. I would love the opportunity to run my own car magazine. I think Driver was recently for sale - I think that is a mag with a lot of potential... now, I just need to find some financial backers. Did the letter have the company's name on it? If so, you should go to the Companies Office website and find the details of their head office. A phone call to chase them would probably be more effective than sending an email / writing a letter. The threat of advising Fair Go also works a treat...
  3. That is interesting, I didn't think the UK parent company would let the NZ mag fail. But maybe they looked at the numbers and thought the only readers were those who previously bought the UK mag. The lack of refund is a bit rubbish. I was tempted to subscribe, but never got around to it. How many issues do they owe you?
  4. Yes, I am a subscriber of NZ Autocar but the content disappoints me. Last night I read the 335i vs S4 article in the latest edition. It didn't really say much or raise anything contentious - the whole article was just confirming what eveyone knows, Audis are understated family machines which in S or RS form can be real weapons whereas the BMW is more of the focussed unashamed drivers car. One thing I can't understand is why NO New Zealand car mags carry any content on used cars. I love flicking through the UK Autocar and seeing reviews on used cars, advice to buyers and bargains of the month. My favourite mags are Evo, Car and Octane. Shame they are all over $15 ea, or over $20ea if you want airmail...
  5. Needs a bit of TLC, but could be a good project car. TradeMe link. Does anyone on here own an iX? I've always wondered whether they still drive like a BMW!
  6. Does anyone know what happened to the New Zealand edition of CAR magazine? From memory it launched here in about November last year, but the last edition I purchased was in April. I have not seen any on the shelves since. I figure they pulled the title because the readership wasn't high enough. But in saying that, CAR UK must have pretty deep pockets. I am disappointed as it was a very good read and had good NZ content and editorials too. Hopefully someone can fill me in!
  7. Geez are these really worth over $200??? A mate of mine has one sitting in his garage that he doesn't want - offered it to me for a dozen beers. Maybe I should take him up on his offer and throw it out there at $1 reserve and watch you vultures fight for it!
  8. You are all bagging it and having a moan like a bunch of old women. If you are in the market for an E30, it could be a good buy. The estimate suggests that the reserve price is $8,500. Remember this is a manual 325i (with the added bonus of a schnitzer kit) - it is not rare to see dreamers on here (and TradeMe) wanting not much less for 318i and 320i autos...
  9. Spotted this - coming up for auction on Aug 29. Estimate is $7k - $10k. Pretty sure this is the same car that has been discussed previously in the forums, but now has different wheels. Still, a good buy if someone can bag it for under $10k. The UR Quattro at the same auction is pretty hot - a bit dearer at $20k - $25k
  10. I'm getting excited - do the above comments mean we now starting a revolt against all of the hideous bagged, slammed, modded etc BMWs out there? If so, I am stoked, it's about time!
  11. There was one for sale at the Porirua Ford Dealership about 18 months ago. Was electric blue, manual, NZ new and about $25k from memory.
  12. Have you sold the 540i, or are you looking to trade it? I think the S6 is a better proposition than the S8 - newer car and more agile. In saying that, Tradin Post in Parnell have had a blue NZ new S8 in stock for a rather long time - I am sure they would be keen to do a deal on it! What about a Merc E55? Same category as the M5, but a lot cheaper. An E55 is on my current "to buy list"!
  13. I agree - great car. The Octavia VRS is on run out at the moment, you should be able to pick up an ex demo car for close to the $35k mark (IIRC there were a couple advertised at $39,990). Fantastic car with VW's 125kw diesel and DSG trans. I wouldn't bother going down the Audi, BMW, Merc route unless you are happy with something at least 3+ years old with average kms. Like the Skoda, there are plenty of other "outside the square" bargain wagons around. I don't know if I could recommend one, but I have seen a few near new and demo Saab 9-3 SportCombi's for under $40k. Passat wagon, or Volvo V50/V70 could also be worth considering. Also, if you are looking at an A3, you would be mad to buy one over a Golf - you are getting less for more.
  14. Classified listing has been pulled down so couldn't check the details. Looks pretty horrid to me - the leather must be an end of run from the factory that makes the 'Wainuiomata single mum lace up to the knee f***-me boots'... Furthermore, I have never known an E30 to be used as "VIP" transport. Also, unless you had young children you needed to entertain on long trips, why would you want to put a Playstation in your car? If anyone on this site has bought said car, my faith in Bimmersport will be completely lost...

    My new E34

Nice one. Leather looks tidy too. Would look even better minus the ///M badge. Is it NZ new?
  16. I voted for C. But actually I think they are all a bit average. No matter what you end up getting you will get sick of in 6 months time. Why do you want a personalised plate? I can think of much better ways to spend $700+ and advertising the fact your car is turbocharged will make it more appealing to both the Police and theives.

  18. Try Specialised Auto Parts in Lower Hutt
  19. Spotted this RHD E30 M3 at Turners in Chch. Looks cheap enough at $21,500 - $22,500 but seems like it has a few issues. Has anyone had a look at it?
  20. Thanks M. Spotted a cheap BMW for the Aucklanders... '99 E46 320i M Sport, silver, 176kms $7,600 - $8,400
  21. '95 E36 328i sedan, nz new, auto, 121km, $5,000 - $6,000 '96 318ti 'fun top', auto, 62km, $4,000 - $5,000 '97 328i coupe, auto, 84km, $7,000 - $8,000 '89 320i sedan, nz new, manual, 158km, $1,500 - $2,500
  22. Is it quattro? Can you upload some pics?
  23. Awesome. Am actually looking forward to watching the next F1 race!
  24. Try eBay in the US. Even after shipping it will be miles cheaper than getting one from the dealer.
  25. Last week I spotted a E30 325i touring in what looked to be dolphin grey. Was being driven by an older guy in the Auckland CBD and had P..... plates.
