Component, amp and wiring advice please!
MD13 replied to kingkarl's topic in Audio & In Car Entertainment
Yeah I can read that and interpret it as saying both 2ohm stable bridged and not... Confusing! I found this at crutchfield - AMP That states it is 2ohm stable bridged. The thing I find odd about that is it quotes less power for 2ohm output than for 4ohm... Isn't it usually the other way around (see below for quote)? 300 watts RMS x 2 bridged at 4 ohms (250 watts RMS x 2 bridged at 2 ohms) Short story though appears to be that the amp will power your sub. -
Knew that guy would have an iphone

Not sure that amp is 2ohm stable when bridged though... Specs only mention 4ohm bridged: Amp Or am I looking at the wrong amp? -
Not OCD enough - I'd be worried about the trickle charger setting my car on fire! Or maybe that's anxiety...

Do you know about the wiring options for a DVC sub? Just in case... -

RCA's have some shielding built into the cable - means less noise can be introduced. As you'll probably be mounting the amp in the boot I'd personally look at getting a new headunit with 2 sets of RCA's - front and rear\sub. Something like this - Headunit That'll will mean more tuning options (fade, balance and maybe even some sub crossover) and make wiring easier - 2 rca cables instead of 4 speaker wires and extra adapters. Then either Neal's speakers or the pioneers you mentioned in the first post, that pioneer amp and a sub. Wiring kit and you're done... No need for any capacitors. -
Link This almost makes me want to put my car on the market... I would dearly love to own a blue M3 and the e36 is the only version in my price band. In a perfect world it would be the 3.2 version with black interior. Anyone know anything about it's history?

That would be this one right? Brent's e36 wagon

Saw a silver e34 525ix touring in Ellerslie. Can't imagine there's many of those around...

They might look ok painted? The thing about those wheels that bugs me is the chrome brightness...

Manual? (Eyes aren't what they used to be...)

Yeah Bryce's car is lovely!

Link NZ's best? In beautiful nick but could use a manual box in my opinion.

Took the dog for a walk and spotted a pair of nice M5's on Anzac in Browns bay. Black e39 with license plate DPT something and then a black e60 license plate M5 V10!

Cheers Will. Mark - message received. I am a first time BMW owner and so am probably a little over enthusiastic and definately under informed. Also work is a little quiet at the moment...

Link Says the engine is 3.3l but looks like an M20. Can you get 3.3 out of a 2.5? Or is that an m30...

I think you're car looks pretty fantastic either way! I don't know how it is with new cars but removing and putting on window trim is tricky. I replaced a rubber seal recently and the trim pieces are very easy to bend...

Nice to hear - I have a almost identical car but with the leather interior though I hope without the additional welding...
