Hi looking for a pair of 12 volt, 5 watt mini base side marker bulbs for the E39 . These are clear when not working and amber when working. Have found they could go by the following names Phantoms, Stealth, Solaris. Tried Repco, Super cheep and Jaz Cars in Palmy with no luck . Will try the stealers as a last resort but thought some one may be able to help. Thanks in advance Allan.

That is a very smart looking vehicle, not pron to commenting on this type of subject but these beemers seem to have that mystery factor about them, in my opinion which the newer ones have lost, can't really decribe it if this makes sense. She is 25 years old now and in good health with many more years in her yet, you know it's history, you seem to be forming an attachment to it so why not keep it in the family. Please if I my do not tinker with it leave it as is just my thoughts. Cheers Allan

Had a look at these for your yellow problem http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/HYPER-WHITE...sspagenameZWDVW or http://www.360infiniteusa.com/products_extra.php?extraid=123 You may want to check on the rules and regs with HID,Xenon lights when not fitted as standard equipment LTSNZ site. Also you will need these sensors fitted to the suspension to adjust the headlights automatically to avoid dazzling on coming traffic plus the module that controls it all if you wish to do it correctly. Sorry the photo copy is crap but it give's you the idea if interested From the Bentley service manual. How would you go for $40 on that arm rest item? Cheers Allan

This is just an update on the Good year F1's I had fitted to the front of my e39 back in April 2007. They have done just over 33,000 k's.and some wear is now showing. right hand side left hand side Their are some marks, orange arrows any thoughts or possible trouble. Have been advised that the front control arms are showing signs of wear and may need attention. Tyres pressures have been in the 35 to 38psi range. Cheers allan

Hi Penry, Welcome to the joys of modding a 5er, headlights face lift type clear corners with clear indicators, then change the bulbs to phantoms to really give you a clear look. http://cgi.ebay.com.au/BMW-Headlamp-Headli...-Angel-Eye-OEM- Hella_W0QQitemZ360080407847QQcmdZViewItem?_trksid=p3286.m20.l1116 Or go to the Xenon headlights and then you start talking money to do it correctly As mentioned the face lift do have LED tail lights these can be purchased with ballasts for no face lift for around 4 to 5 hundred or go all out and buy them with a new light control module which you have to get programmed, lead to believe. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/BMW-E39-5-S...82812QQtcZphoto The above are all Hella ones top quality hence the price tag OEM I believe to which helps. You could change the dull angel eye park lights to these if you wish http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/HYPER-WHITE...sspagenameZWDVW The sports wheel you mentioned well the sky is the limit on that one trade me $495 plus air bag think I might have already touched on that one. Have fun with your project. Cheers Allan

Carefully! Hi Matt, to remove the side indicator lights slide the lense assembly forward and carefully pull the lense out of the guard at the rear. At the front is a flat spring and a groove at the rear this locates it. Be carefully not to mark your paint work when you remove them it's simple to do, info taken from the Bentley service manual. Cheers Allan

The Motorsport is $25,990 sorry. Will require a further $2800 odd to get the GPS and phone running. Eddy; not at all, have been hit once and do not wish to be hit again. Lets just say the present one has run its course, time for a change. With a veiw for better resale etc this time round. The fact that the 5's have taken a hit price wise because of petrol and other factors is also a factor to have a look at them again. Some issues over imports and their service history as to NZ ones has been mentioned also. That is my reason why I now ask the question. Cheers Allan

Eddy! I will bit have you ever driven a 530 they are no slug off the mark and I see your ride is an 88 318 how does that match up? The 5 series have taken a bath price wise so a good one should be out their. The 540 or a good 530 would be my choice so have the $$$$ ready when it does just my 2 cents worth. Allan

An interesting idea Glenn. The ease of access in and out of the vehicle is very clear to see. Any idea on how the safety aspect would be maintained with the removal of the pillar, side impact etc. Also how complex the whole system is? Cheers Allan

Is this of any help?. http://www.beisansystems.com/procedures/vanos_procedure.htm Cheers Allan

If you should decided to change the headlights or tail lights at a later date try these two site's. To up grade to the Xenon type lights is a $$$$$$ exercise but if done correctly does make the car look nice. When you fit the halo rings us the brighter LED bulbs the factory ones are a dull yellow and not a nice look IMO. Get hold of Grant ( Hotwire) he will be able to give you the run down on getting the the GPS and phone up and running. Enjoy the ride you will not regrete it! http://www.eurosportdesign.com/c-10-e39-5-series.aspx http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/BMW-E39-5-S...QcmdZViewItemQQ Cheers Allan

Sitting around a bon-fire last night we shared a few stories a couple that I can recall. Little Johnny comes home from school with a note which he hands to his mother. She reads it and her facial expression is not good. she calls Johnnys father and hands him the note. Johnny's father takes johnny to the lounge, "sit down Johnny" says his father "and tell me what happend". Little Johnny said "miss Jones says I'm a rude boy," his father interupts and says again "what happened.?" "We were doing our time tables and she asked what 7x8 was and I said 56." "Good boy" she replied. "She then asked what 8x7 was-" Johnnys father interupts with "what's the f**king difference?" "I know Dad that's what I said!" A man goes to heaven and meets Saint Peter. Just past the Pearly gates he sees a whole lot of clocks and asks what are these for, St Peter explains that the clocks belong to every person that has lived, will live and does live and each time that a person tells a lie the clock will move forward one second. The man is very impressed with this and inquires about Mother Theresa, so St Peter brings out the clock and it has moved 2 seconds, so she has told two lies in her whole life. So then he asks about Ghandi'S clock so St Peters obtains Ghandis clock and it is still directly on Twelve so he has not told a single lie in his entire life. Wow!! says the man. What about Winston Peters' clock? Well, says St Peter, sorry but Jesus is using that one in his office for a ceiling fan. No offence intended to anyone.. just having a laugh

Three priests are having a quiet drink together and the conversation turns to how is the collection plate distributed by each of them. The first priest explains he has nothing to do with it. It is all sent to a higher place. The second priest says it is placed in an account for the up keep of the church and community issues. The third priest says I let divine intervention take place. He pauses a moment and with a slight smile on he face, as the other two priests look at him with baited breath. Finally he explains I stand before the alter and bless the collection plate then with one quick action flick the contents into the air. What every Gods wants he can take what falls to the floor I keep. No offense meant to anyone with this item. Cheers Allan
