That is interesting about them not washing the car after working on it. As the Palmy branch has always done so when I have had mine in to be worked on. It is strange that any thing out of the norm like your situation gets a negative response I feel they only hurt themselves in the end. Lets hope that change is in the wind and it continues good on you. Cheers Allan

Dark Wolf hi, who did the alignment for you in the first place?. Would recommend Emmersons in Levin or John Bates in Palmy Nth if you are unhappy with the handling of your ride. Having just gone through this myself it can be frustrating. The steering wheel should have been straight and level after the alignment or they should have told you why not. Some of the angles on the E39 models are fixed at the factory and are non adjustable Castor is one, Camber on the front, but can be adjusted on the rear, toe angle is adjustable front and rear "any devaitions are a result of worn or damaged suspension parts" from Bentley service manual. E39 Headlights: any relation between year and colour?
allan replied to Avenged.SSE's topic in Appearance
Is this of any help http://www.bmwtips.com/tipsntricks/AEinstall/headlight.html Good luck typical BMW variations all over the show Just a note their was a change about Sep /2001 I think when the clears started to be fitted at well but your "M" spec etc had them before this date. It seems to depend on the model spec level etc the owners required it also was different between the various market USA, Europa as before variations all over the place. Cheers Allan -
The lights are gen Hella. Over the Christmas brake I had a look at the front and rear suspension. The front thrust arm bushes had started to tear away from their outer casing. The control arm rubbers had cracks in them. Next came the rear this proved to be a bit more difficult and had to get Bates in Palmy Nth to fit the rear ball joints as well as the wheel alignment . The rear sway bar links were shot, the rubber boots on the ball joints had all but gone allowing dirt to get into them. Is a lot more stable when cornering now and the over all ride is better as well.

Black E39 hi! They are expensive if you go genuine but not to bad for a good quality after market one. Match the capacity of the battery with what you have now I was told to do.As the E39 has a lot of behind the scene things going on that one is not aware of. Allan

Greg About a grand for a cambelt etc to be done on a 307 Peugeot I was told. Glenn I know that you are just giving us an idea of how much things can cost and it does seem a lot of money for the brake bits but how much does one compare that cost to that of a family member or your own for that matter if the worst happened. This vehicle has raised a few interesting points. The front bumper is set up like a M5 I believe, the M sports and 540's I have seen have the "T" bar across the air intake part of the bumper, correct me if wrong. The headlights are they Halogen or Xenon as most of the M sport from 2000 on I believe had Xenons plus with it having the bigger clear corners are they not the older style headlights that came out with the glass lenses, and no halo rings either. This could be production date dependant can never true BMW so many variable with them. As for the front PDC sensors they are in the wrong positions, as stated. Mine has eight in total two per corner of the vehicle the fronts inners are level with the edge of the headlight and the outers on the curve of the bumper between the indicator and corner lense. imgres.htmThe inner rears are level with the edge of number plate position on the boot lid and the outers are on the curve of the bumper. It is very easy for all us arm chair buyers to pull this to bits for you but I feel that this my require some careful research for your own peace of mind and your pocket. As always a pre-purchase inspection by your local expert is a good starting place plus a dealer maybe able to help out with some of its history if their is any doubt about it. Happy hunting over this one and if you don't mind keep us informed of the out come. Cheers Allan

As per the title a work mate is selling his and I was wondering what sort of money it is likely to go for. It is a metallic burgundy colour, black leather seats, 5 speed manual, car alarm and spoiler etc. Has full service history since he has owned it, coming up on 200,000k now he bought it about 80,000k has owned it for about eight years. Thanks for any assistance

Thought this may be of help I have done a couple myself BUT at your own risk. Copy_of_E39_Headlight_adjuster_replacement.pdf The adjusters can be obtained from the dealers for around $30.00 plus gst.
-
This is for the facelift headlights on e39's may apply to other models. The adjusters are about $33.00 plus gst I found out if you get the dealer to do it for you it will cost about $220.00 plus gst roughly. Copy_of_E39_Headlight_adjuster_replacement.pdf About 95 to 100c was the temp I found nice, bloody sticky stuff enjoy Allan

Well I just had to turn the key and go for a drive. With the car almost back together before I start on another stage just the radio and cassette to refit. Some more photo's while I remember the only problem I had fitting the Xenon headlights was the A/C pipes on the right side are very close. Was great to have all the pixels up and running no WOF problem their now.

Yes sure do. The next area visited was under the bonnet. The motor got a new air filter, valve cover gasket, charcoal activited filters for the A/C. The dealer replaced the drive belt tensioner set up with the lastest type I believe it's hydraulic as the old one being mechanical develops a ticking noise I was informed which mine had. While having a look around the engine noticed a few other bits and pieces that will need attention so will have to revisit this area later on. The front seats came out next for repadding as the drivers one had collapsed and the side cover ended up being broken, holds all the electric controls for the seat. Big mistake getting the side covers from the dealer you have to buy both left and right at around $180.00. Then the instrument cluster was next the old missing pixel trick. After a chat with Glenn this was sent to Shane at Auto Electronic Services. The repair, freight, g.s.t $330.00. Hope I spelt Shane's name correctly Had a few items that had need of replacement in the centre console area, wood panel cover for cassette player, centre console tray has fag lighter in it. These items have now been returned to their rightful place so the interior is no longer a mess of screws and plastic bits.

This is the package they came in all up about $100.00 from the states. These you remove the old bulb holder and replace it with these hook up the wires and turn them on thats it. They are white in colour beats the old yellow one's by far.

Over the last couple of months have been looking at things that need to be done to the 530. Starting from the front Hella Xenon low beams standard bulbs 4500k I think, clear corners and indicators with stealth bulbs, 7000k led ring markers to replace the old yellow angel eyes. Was amased at the difference in light quality plus still looking into the anti-glare set up used old headlight new headlight new and old halo rings Have more so will post later

Nick021 they are the one's. If they are available at Repco will go and have piece of somebody because I was told they did not have them. If no trouble could you find out what brand and a part No please. Was aware I could get them from overseas just the cost and time delay in getting them. The old silver paint trick ahh good one 99. What do you do just paint the orange bulb with the silver paint let it dry and thats it?.
