On fifth gear today a man totally blind driving an M5 exceeded 165mph average. This was a recorded run over one mile a return run within an hour had to be carried out for it to qualify. The driver was guided by his father in a following M5 giving minor steering alterations as he went. This was followed by the female member of the fifth gear team having a go Gutsy or madness. The run was carried out on an airstrip also the M5 had the speed limiter removed. Cheers

To Nic 325i. Thank you for posting up that item after reading it I now understand a little better what goes into the making of the M5 and why it would be so desired by sum. Cheers Allan

Paul could you please elaborate what does make the M5 that much different from either a m sport or a standard unit to command such high prices. Apart from the obvious larger engine size, interior colour lay outs to name but a few of the obvious things. Allan

hi, be sure to check which shipping company is being used as this can help a lot with the cost. What sort of weight are you talking about surely a radio isn't that heavy or large to cost 50 US to ship. Cheers Allan

Is that a realistic price for this vehicle in the present economic climate or is he dreaming I known its a M5 and are held in high regard but when all said and done it is only a car with a few extra goodies, eight years old done 96,000km and all the common weak points that e39's have or am I being to hard. Just out of interest in one of the interior photo's I see a knob and switch where the cup holders usually are plus one above it any ideas. Can make out the heated seats pdc, dsc I think etc.

Greg1 1 1 these are the two types mentioned in the Bentley manual, IHKA, IHKR and some of the components involved

Isn't that a politician through and through give you the earth on day and steal it right back the next. What sort of a deal did he do to wrangle the foreign affairs minister job from aunty Helen?. Allan

It appears it is not that easy to just turn off the heater in a E39 as the heating and air con systems appear to be tied together through the M-Bus link set up , don't ask me to explain that just going on what is in the Bentley manual. Cheers Allan

Thanks guys for the help it makes it as clear as mud haha! So I ran this CK19905 plus a couple others through the decoder and it gave no indication they were 530i m sport or did I miss something. Or obtain the build sheet for the vehicle concerned as was mentioned would that help?. Cheers Allan

Piraka have you had problems. Braincol is on the money with the blanked off heaters I found two plugs in mine they were in the hoses by the fire wall / heater core connection. To remove them was a simple hose removal and long nose pliers to pull them out, bleed the air from the heater core and re-connect.Then hope the heater core doesn't spring a leak as I believe its expensive to replace in a E39.

Ha Ha, nice one Zennetti I know that was using the 540m sport v 530 m sport as a reference only. As per first post is the sport variation a total vehicle issue and if so to what extent over a standard production vehicle. Allan

Hi, after doing a little searching on this I still can't get a clear picture of what it entails, M sport 540 v M sport 530 to name but one. Their seems to be so many variations available so are the differences through out the whole vehicle or only cosmetic ie seats, lights, steering wheel, bumpers etc. and if so what are they, how do these changes if at all change the characteristics of the vehicle. Cheers Allan

If you do your homework before purchasing a car from either country you should be able to eliminate the lemon factor and get a reliable vehicle. Age and mileage would have to be taken into account as Hotwire has made mention of. Allan

Nice one. will have to remember that and tell it on the golf course. Are you getting that old crap to Glen hahahaha! youngest daughter came out with it the other day over a song she heard and I was able to tell her what it was. Her reply was your and old fuddie duddie dad I just ignored it.

Another fine example of the media stirring up the preferable.

Urgent update required Paul, quietly laughing to himself.

Have to side with Gannetboy and Quailboy. The nose is to straight up an down, plus the total depth of it is a bit off putting. The tail lights look weird and the lines in them ugly, are the lower items a reflector or another light unit?, totally unnecessary IMO. Prefer the twin tips rather than the dual chrome set up shown in another photo. The dash layout looks tidy but with to many knobs, dials and switches leading to a cluttered appearance. As the so called Flagship of the fleet I feel BMW needs to do a little more refining yet. I know that this is a personnel thing and one thing does not always appeal to another so this is just my opinion of the car. Allan

Hi! you might like to look in the glove box at the other fuse box.At the top of the glove box are two white lugs rotate these and the panel will drop down revealing the fuse box It should have a card which will let you know what each fuse is for this may lead you to solving your problem.

Seems to have stirred up the feelings a little this item. Good deal on the man doing what he did teach the stupid idiot a lesson. It is a pity that this society has become so PC crazy that common discipline and respect for another's property and a safe environ for one's family and such has been allowed to degenerated to the levels that we have today. Why does this up and coming generation have no respect for others or even themselves and carry out these stupid acts? If the man is charged for his actions I feel it is harsh but the law is the law, blind as sometimes. Maybe if other areas having similar troubles have an incident like this one. It will send a clear message to boy racers and others that people are getting pissed off about events like this and are prepared to take some action and reclaim their neighborhoods even if the powers to be seem to be dragging the chain in this area. Found this while looking for production dates on e39 530's it relates to the 540 and makes mention of the 6 speed numbers just to throw in the mix, hope all goes well Paul! http://forums.bimmerforums.com/forum/showthread.php?t=333213

Hi! Just a thought do the e46's have a final stage resistor unit like the e39. These units over time become faulty and can give you all sorts of funny symptoms with the climate control ie A/c fan turns on for no reason, will only go flat out and then not at all some times. If that is of any help to you. Allan
