OK I forgot the funny part.Walked home, picked up race car trailer with the flatmate and went to pick up the car of the side of the road. Diff has welded itself shut, so we jacked the back up and winched it in. What a great idea!!! Too bad it only works until the car goes high enough up the ramps to be off the jack. The car was stuck halfway up the ramp for about 40 minutes while we scratched our heads.... tried hauling up on the winch and that only served to bend the hook straight and send it flying towards us at great speed!! Just about to tow the car half hanging off the trailer, then it came to us. The solution - my flatmate had the idea of greasing up the trailer with a bottle of dishwashing liquid! She slid right on up Made corners with the trailer VERY SCARY as the car had no grip and wandered freely side to side!!!! Good thing home wasnt too far away

OK a little story of Karma I suppose: After 6 months of driving the turbo setup with an open diff, I managed to get a complete rear end including LSD for $150 from a stolen recovered vehicle. MUCH much gloating took place over the price attained, and I spent much time grinning to myself. :bounce: The weekend comes and goes and by late sunday night the diff is in. Whats the first thing you do when you suddenly have a whole lot more power to the ground? Go and try it out!!!! Blast from home up to the top of east coast road, and going around the roundabout back the way we came car gets a big judder. Pul over, cant see anything, keep on going. Flying home, Rear wheels lock up instantaneously leaving 200m skidmarks and me sitting nicely next to the kerb needing a new pair of undies. MOTTO: PUT FLUID IN THE DIFF AS IT MAY HAVE DRAINED OUT WHILE THE OTHER GUY WAS STORING IT... Good thing I could take it down to the workshop and replace all the exploded bearings That'll teach me for being hasty!
  4. You are a legend, I have PM'ed you. Cheers!
  5. Hi again Guys, I NEED a manual steering rack for the 335. the new intercooler and radiator setup makes the PS pulleys impossible to keep. I am willing to pay any reasonable price, I just need one! Cheers
  6. make an offer quick......
  7. interested depending on ratio Come have a look and you can take it away mate!
  8. I think the issues would be with the Link? Im guessing you changed the drive gear on the distributor or swapped the internals? Either way should not give you any issues unless its the link itself - sorry to hear you bought one!
  9. Hi guys, I have an open diff from a 323i Pre FL E30 sitting in my garage, make a (reasonable) offer and you can come pick it up - on the north shore in AK. I wont ship it, if nobody makes an offer its going to the tip next week. will post ratio soon
  10. OK David and Hybrid - and maybe E30stz??We would love the opprtunity to use your two e46's - does anyone else have one that they would care to add to the procession? three or four would be perfect I have PM'ed you guys about contact, thanks heaps!
  11. Come again ?Ahhhh you must mean the Marty with the e23's. It just so happens that I will be using mine for a friends wedding on the 8th April too ! Yep I believe his name is actually martyyn too.... I think that was who Brett referred to him as when I first met him!
  12. Hi all, With Martyyns cars booked on the 8th of April, we are looking for 3 or 4 cars for that day. We are after 3 or 4 7 or 5 series, I would love to rip down to the church in the 335 turbo but it is sadly out of action So if we could get together 3 or four of the same colour (black white blue silver gold or red), with or without drivers, it would be awesome! Preferably THE NEWER THE BETTER, obviously we would like them all of the same model. and Yes, we are willing to cross your greedy little palms with silver for each car Thanks in advance!
  13. Very nice - stop hijacking my thread im trying to do a project writeup
  14. New purchase today - Alpina A4S genuine gauge cluster - yes Alpina pimped rides back in the 70's the way we still do it today, what pioneers!
  15. linkage http://cki.co.nz/technologies.htm i would love to know if it's sh!t or if it's any good or even if this is BS. In my experience, if they need to quote tests like that (and put pat. pending after their design name) tehy are trying to make you think what they are offering is better than it really is.All about perception.

    B10 engine in Germany

400HP no worries, there is dyno sheets floating around of 600HP on stock internals on daily drivers.'drop in' my ass  Just ask me! :banghead:
  17. Definetely MAP based, AFM is obsolete. All about AUTO TUNE will be revealed in time.....
  18. which is irrelevant for a car like yours or mine - every 500rpm is fine. Fairly irrelevant, but you find that most people like to be WOW'ed with huge tables and maps. Our processor is 32 bit register based so allows us MANY more times resolution than many others, so really we dont have a limit, but do you want to set values in a table for every 1 RPM???? Although you could jsut let the AUTO-TUNE do it for you :mosh:
  19. Motec is centre market, between the likes of Autronic and Link. You are completely right that your average turbo puppy wont need it, but then thats not the market I am aiming at as they just dont have enough cash flying around, unlike WRC team types
  20. Well to be honest with you, the purchase price was $800 so make it twenty times the purchase price The missus has let me loose on the projects, I believe a 2 carat solitaire does unusual things to a ladies way of thinking :pimp:
  21. Okay latest new addition as of 5 minutes ago:Reiger front bumper so I can fit a waaaaay bigger intercooler in the front. (Incase you all didnt notice, I am on a buying spree as my fiancee has *allowed* me to get the projects finished) Fun!
  22. RS7 ECU is pure wire in, but we will be maKing loom adapters for all the popular vehicles - none of this piggyback nonsense Target market is racecars using autronic or better - but at a Link/Motec price bracket. OK not so secret anymore the UoA Formula SAE car will be our trial by fire before release to market 2nd half of this year.
  23. As mentioned, water injection IS an awesome part of keeping a turbo engine at peak performance. the RS7 ECU has onboard water injection support, it was one of our immediate goals when designing.
