  1. HB mate, remember you're only as old as the woman you feel.
  2. Hi all, These are all fully dried now, so a final bump before I wrap them for long-term storage! Let me know if you'd like a look-see beforehand. Christian
  3. DIY - it's more fun that way! Have a look on YouTube for tutorials on car care - there's some great stuff on there. Search on Matt Farah (from thesmokingtyre and drive) - he has a 2-video series on properly detailing his Corvette that's full of useful information. If you're ever up here in Auckland I'd be happy to help you out mate just give me a call.
  4. All the luck to him, but personally I'd avoid a 20yr-old highly-stressed sports coupe on >200,000kms. Especially one that probably smells like dog. Then there's the asking price... if he's asking just shy of $20k you'd think he'd at least have vacuumed it for the photos.
  5. Very nice indeed! Classy!
  6. Silly mistake, paid for it with his car but could've been a whole lot worse. Don't drink and drive, kids.
  7. It's all practice! Looking forward to interior shots! I looked to replace my brushed aluminium trim with CF, however thought it wouldn't give much contrast.

    My new hobby?

It's quite depressing how little I know about photography. Awesome shots!
  9. I'm not sure if Marc Ellis or Matthew Ridge read Bimmersport.
  10. Having had both, honestly they're much of a muchness. I run a 60k daily round trip with a mix of 100kph and city driving, and have no complaints around wear or failures. They do what they do in an un-dramatic way, for an un-dramatic car. Exactly what I need.
  11. There's a boatyard with a number of sheds on the Kilbirnie end of Evans Bay Pde that had a washing facility, but we're going back a few years now. This was always unmanned after dark. I'll try and find it on Google Maps. Edit: Here it is, although there are now buildings all around that never used to be there... may need verification from a local.
  12. If it's any consolation, I had a set of Supercats on my Corolla, and they were no worse than the other 'comfort' tyres I've used (Interstate Touring IST-1 & Kingstar Road Fit SK70 at the moment). Supercats are also made by Bridgestone.
  13. Thank you mate. Yep what the Q-man said. Keen to have a look, APT? Sent from my GT-I9305 using Tapatalk

Onya Paul - these parts are not at all cheap, so this is a really generous offer people. Good on you mate. Sent from my GT-I9305 using Tapatalk
  15. Hopefully they'll make someone's day! Gotta be realistic about the price. Albeit as-new condition, they're still second hand wheels & tyres.
  16. I've given these a good degrease & clean and they've come up like new. Stacked to completely dry at the moment, then I'll pack them up for long-term storage. If you'd like to try them on your car, just let me know.

    M TOY M3

Good idea re: shipping, planning on bringing back a container by chance? I'd love to go to the US - maybe one day. The surround is quite easy to replace. Had a similar issue with the M5 one, as the surround is a few cm wider in the e39 than the e46.
  18. Hi all, sorry for delay & thanks Tristan! I bought these new for $2,400ish last year, so I reckon $1,400 should be fair.

    M TOY M3

Hi all, The ZCP knob and gearboot turned up yesterday, so I went about removing the M5 gearknob and fitting it in. My what a difference! The throw is a heap shorter, and feels a lot more solid. The standard shifter height (shared by the M5) is a lot taller, and as such the pivot is longer. Anyway, photos. Here’s the OEM M5 shifter height: I remember doing this patching (don't worry I removed all the insulation before this pic…). The M5 shifter wiring doesn’t fit with the OEM e46 M3 light wiring, and requires a little work. Have a look earlier my thread for the how-to. As the ZCP gearknob doesn’t have a light, I don’t need to worry about this. The package as it showed up – Alcantara gearboot & ZCP knob. These are two separate items, allowing interchangeable parts. The OEM M5 and M3 shifters are one piece including the boot. When removing your current gearknob DO NOT PRY UP THE CENTRE CONSOLE. The gearknob surround pops up from a little pressure inside; between the knob and the console with the window switches. If you try to pry up the console, you’re going to have a bad time (it’s screwed in from under the surround). I notice a slight issue… The surround provided with the Alcantara boot is for the ZCP, a US-spec E46 M3 option. As such, it’s made for LHD cars. Replace with your original plastic surround (it’s the same size, different orientation). A little superglue should hold it in place: When the superglue doesn’t work, use this, but be really careful not to spill any on the fabric! I went through 3 sets of gloves to make sure: Huzzah! The surround should mount flush into place. It’s held in by plastic clips, so a gently amount of pressure should ‘pop’ it into place in each of the corners. The gearknob should also pop into place, requires a bit more pressure: The throw (much shorter): A direct comparison: I also had some lights installed in the garage, as I couldn’t do much work on the cars after dark unless covered in LED torches. I opted to go a bit more on the bright side rather than risk it still being dim. 8x daytime halogens later:
  20. Haha ok I stand corrected! I had an Audi years ago that I used turps to clean the boot, and a fair amount of clear came off with it. That car had serious issues however, so there may have been some corrosive material on the paint already.

    Weekend Car - M3

Ah, noisy. Quite a deep bass note to it in-cabin, sounds quite different from the outside. Can still hear the rasp at full song however.

Have a look at my dyno vids to listen to a Supersprint on full noise. http://s375.photobucket.com/user/monthly5/media/M3Run_zpscb6a21b7.mp4.html http://s375.photobucket.com/user/monthly5/media/M3Run3_zps82840ed3.mp4.html http://s375.photobucket.com/user/monthly5/media/M3Run2_zps8b6fa541.mp4.html Cold start & idle: http://s375.photobucket.com/user/monthly5/media/MTOYColdStart_zpsb2e62706.mp4.html
  23. I lol'd Somebody lock this thread already.
  24. Kerosene works wonders. Be really careful with turps, as it's easy to chew through the clear. Plus it's best to use gloves with turps. Regarding tar remover; I purchased some from Repco, and I'd be very surprised if it wasn't just watered-down and pressurised turps. Certainly smelled the same.
