Fram filter? I was a little concerned about the oiled filter, but figure as long as I don't go mad re-oiling every 10kms it'll be ok. I did pick up a cleaning/re-oiling kit the other day, it was around $50 I think.

Thanks mate, they're bloody light, especially in comparison to the original Work 20's!

Hi everyone. About time for an update, as I've received a few things in the post! A big thanks to Mac at FortyOne for the intake - didn't take long at all to be shipped in from the USA. Fitted up last weekend with the help of my unbelievably patient wife: Excuse the dirty plenum, its actually powder from my gloves. Nowhere seems to sell good powder-less disposable gloves off the shelf. Really seems to rev out easier in the higher gears (3rd up) - however this may be a placebo from the added racket! And look what's arrived from Germany, about 15 weeks early! Still waiting on the rears to show up, then it's time to hunt for some good tyres. I'll keep the daily wheels for now as spares - they're only a few months old, and unmarked. I also got into yakking with Seth the other day. The daily is like an oven in direct sunlight, so before long I'd booked in the daily to get some light front tints to match the rears. Ahem So checking in with the many-times-revised to do list. Glad to say it's looking quite short now! COMPLETED: Bumper plinth Replace wheels & tyres Front spoiler Radar detector hard-wired Tinted glass & roof wrap Replace gearknob to metal M5 Repaint HK speaker covers Intake YET TO DO: - Tyres: Michelin PSS or Conti’s? These seem to be the best two options, although I've heard Toyos are good too. - Suspension: I really like the H&R springs, but as it’s not a daily anymore I can probably get away with some good coilovers. Thanks to Tom & others, I have every real option under my nose! - Repaint s/w plastic – this weekend’s job. I've touched it up, but not 100% happy. Really needs a respray. I've been putting off removing the air bag, mainly because I’m a sook. I had thought about replacing the entire wheel, but once I cleaned it up with Lux flakes it came up like new ('M' stitching and all). GENERAL FIXES: Rear subframe fixed May12 Starter motor reconditioned Sep12 Spare key remote fixed Nov12 Gear lever play fixed Jun13 Bushes replaced Jul13 Belts replaced Jul13 Oil release value replaced Jul13

Well, would you look at that. SLS AMG for sale
-
SLS AMG? Black? Spied it parked outside a caryard on Wairau Rd at lunchtime today. With petrol prices as they are, I'd be looking for a trade in too.

Mint e46 M3 in light silver on the southern near Greenlane y'day - was it you Scott? I gave you a toot & wave regardless. Haii!!

Put the bracket behind the top sun-shade in a way that the radar receptor sits below the shade, and the bracket sits in the tint strip. When you remove the radar, it's difficult to see the bracket behind the tint strip; but when mounted the radar is not blocked by the tint.

Very nice. Future classic right here.

I say go for it, if you can. Really, what are the chances one will turn up at just the right time, for the right $? Odds are that you'd be importing. It doesn't matter what order you purchase the parts in; that doesn't necessarily have to be the order they're installed! If you're 100% sure that it's the way you want to go eventually, and have the money now, I say go for it.

Sweet daily.

I have a Whistler hardwired in, it works bloody well. Minimal false alerts. Best radar I've owned, especially considering it is sub-$1k!

The only local review I can find with photos of the height is here: Compact Eibach Springs Part numbers: kba:90426 2019002 HA 2021101 VA Hope that helps!

Haha I went last year, great times indeed. Will certainly be most interesting this year with the different makes involved. I must admit, the GT3 racing series was just as interesting to watch...!

Yes, I used central3's original instructions as follows (the only change is the 2nd bucket!); soak a clean terry cloth, then wring out all the excess. Have a 2nd bucket with clean hot water & terry cloth ready soaking, and a 3rd dry terry cloth. Buff the seats one at a time. Take your time to get each sq-in of leather. Then clean off the excess with the damp, clean terry before buffing dry. It's the last stage where you see the matte sheen really come out. I was surprised by the amount of grime and sh*t that came out of my supposedly clean seats (I clean them regularly with 'leather cleaner' product - never again). I reiterate - you only need 1 tablespoonful of the soap flakes for 2l of hot water. Good luck!
-
Gave my seats a once-over in the weekend. Both front seats were looking very shiny in comparison to the rears; so much that they looked like a different material! A big thanks to central3 (Paul) for pointing me to the right product and telling me how to use it! 1 box Lux soap flakes: $6 from pak n save: Pre-soap flakes: Post-soap flakes: The results speak for themselves. I only used a tablespoonful for 2l of hot water – not much indeed. The dull sheen really came up after cleaning off the soap from the leather & buffing with a clean, dry terry towel.

Yep, similar story here. Dad had one yonks ago, mid-90's. Great car, started everytime, even when covered in snow. Seemed to be built solidly. Pretty sure it wasn't what you'd call cheap on gas, and repairs would set you back a fair way further than an equivalent jappa.... getting risky now they're so old. That said, there are a heap still on the road. Always a good sign.

Black E60 m5 with orange wheels and a very loud exhaust outside my work in Albany. Only caught a fleeting glance from my fishbowl, but it looks & certainly sounds impressive.
-
Good luck with sale, it looks to be a great example!

Definitely worth taking for a drive. 02 is bearing-recall territory, good to see he's had it done. Also, the subframe has been fixed - another common fault. Sounds like it is well looked after, both fixes by Team Mac. Keen to know details on 'transmission recall' - I wasn't aware there was one, only that people had issues with the SMG box. Looks in good nick, though hard to tell from photos.

Stunning, love the colour combination - looks mint!!!

I thoroughly enjoyed every minute of that!

Heh thanks bud! Apart from the regular wash/detail last weekend & dry-off run, M TOY hasn't been getting much love recently! The lip is a fibreglass jobby - more to protect the bumper from stonechips on the road. Does a bloody good job at it, too – sits quite low at the front so covers a fair percentage of the lower portion of the bumper cover. Only real update is that Team Mac replaced the RTAB’s - it never felt 100% planted at the rear when changing lanes under load; definitely recommend doing this if you’re experiencing the same! Made a world of difference. Seth and the team at Car Folie did a great job on the tints and roof wrap, however the tint not completely sticking to the dot matrix on the rear window has been bugging me ever since. Thought I’d get over it, but I’m a little OCD. I’m not keen to take a chance at re-doing the whole rear screen, and really like the tint film Seth’s put on there – so I’ve been doing a fair amount of research and think I have found a solution. Watch this space for results! Rear screen (sorry for the dark picture, nighttime in the garage with bright fluro lights): I've been saving like mad this year, so hope to have a little to spend on M TOY in the 2nd half of the year. The wish list has been modified slightly (as always!): Genuine CSL wheels with Michelin PS3 or PSS – now that it’s officially a weekender, I can retire the daily wheels and tyres and justify spending a little more on good stuff. I do not want to make this into a 'wanna-be CSL', but I just love the shape of the CSL style 163's. Still thinking about this one. Recover touch surfaces – as before, there’s a small nick on the steering wheel trim that’s been bugging me, and the coloured stitching is looking a bit dull. Instead of a recover, the best bet is probably to get a new wheel from BMW. Here’s a generic sunset photo I took outside work a couple of weeks ago – shows off the brown tint in the colour a bit:

I have one on mine, it's not quiet.

Albeit I lol'd, I can't help but see just how fast this could happen. This guy is lucky- good to see how fast that curtain airbag deployed.

Used my rear fog light this morning for the second time in a year. I concur with everyone else - if it is not foggy, rear foglights are more than a little annoying. Nobody has raised it yet, but I thought 'fog' lights were yellow and a broad, lower wattage beam, and 'driving lights' were white and a limited-height narrow beam? I use my front driving lights in that late-arvo dusk period where it's a bit bright to justify Xenons but dim enough for some turnip to not see my park lights.
