Yeah it was cool watching the tacho go all the way to 0rpm, but clock wise =P Next time I do it I'll make sure I have the camera ready haha.

From what i read the e36 M3's are notorious for causing money shifting, but i dont know about other e36s.

I have just dropped a new engine in my car and my old engine is sitting here with no where to go. My mate has taken the block off me, but I still have the head ( all the exhaust valves are bent but other than that it seems ok ) I also have - alternator - starter motor - Inlet manifold - aircon pump - e36 engine mounts ( Work for M50s in E30s as well ) I probably have other parts as well but I cant remember. Make me an offer. Pick up in Hamilton.
-
Short block is gone. I'll make another thread for the other stuff.

I need this thing gone. It is from my old engine which was over revved, only damage was the exhaust valves which hit the pistons. The valves are bent, pistons are fine, only small marks in the carbon. Pick up in Hamilton. Need gone asap. I have heaps of other M50 parts as well, starter, alternator, mounts ( e36 ones, good for a m50 e30 conversion ) Let me know. Other parts will cost though.. Block includes pistons and everything down.

Got it running last night. Entire swap was pretty hassle free, 320guy pulled the head off the old engine and all the exhaust valves are 100% pootanged. New engine has a bit of vanos rattle, but i think it's the same as my old one but just louded because we have been hooning around with no bonnit on hehe.

Went to one wrecker and he wanted $1500, I thought that was way too much so i went to another and got one for $750 including everything, starter, alternator, inlet manifold, exhaust manifold, EVERYTHING. It also a full service history and only done 140,000km. In saying that, 320guy got his from the same wrecker, with 180,000km on it for $300 =D. The wrecker knows us. I got a full manual conversion kit for my old e30 from him for $300 as well.

Burnouts tonight on your mums driveway if we get it running bowl.

nah not at all, lucky eh.

I'd rather drive around blowing up m50's instead of driving an auto

or in my case from 5th to 2nd =P
-
Believe it or not it sounded like nothing. I hit 2nd, let the clutch out foolishly, tacho went past 7oclock ( i didnt even know they could go that far ) which i think is about 10,000rpm, it sounded like you'd imagian a 10,000rpm engine to sound like. It was revving its royal nuts off and didnt sound rattly or anything. It stayed at about that for 2 seconds. Then I slammed it in 5th, tried to see if i still had power and i did, for about 2 more seconds, then it was dead. Rather non-eventful. When ya do this type of thing ya kinda hope for rods poking out the side of the block or something cool like that..

You cant have vanos without NOS.

Heh new engine didnt cost much, and its done less k's then my old one by 50,000km. So it's not too bad! I'm still trying to figure out how I hooked second, when i wanted 4th..

- M50's cannot do 10,000rpm. I tested this. -Money shifting into 2nd at 120km/h doesn't make for a fun evening. Not the most glorious moment of my life Thought I would post up some pics, I will take some better ones tomorrow. All the inlet valves are fine, ALL the exhaust valves are now shaped like bananas. Hopefully the pistons have holes in them too, that would be cool!

Whoops my bad, yes it is episode two. Three is the latest one out and i watched them back to back, my mistake!

The latest Top Gear episode, season 13 episode 3, has a thing on them trying to act as teenagers and getting home late at night in there cars and not waking their parents. Well worth a watch, Clarkson does a great job, not.

beached as bro Dont have much more at the moment. I was going to put a video up of my mate trying to do roll backs in his e36 ( the one that crashed in previous video posted ) while it was stuck in limp mode, but it was pretty pathetic. Ya kinda had to be there.
-
Wasn't too bad at the start, but when we tried to push it off the hill, all we did is make it more stuck =P

BMW's are not made for offroading, as I learnt after a drunken ( no driving on the road ) attempt at driving to my mates barn one night to pick up some old speedway tyres to heat up the fire. All you do is get stuck.
-
Awesome. I thought it would be a lot more than that. Sounds like a deal.

Im thinking I might just go into an auto upholstery place and see what they charge, if it isnt too steep i might just go with it. If it is, I will certainly have a go with the stuff you guys have recommended. I kinda have a knack of stuffing stuff up like this so yeah..

My cars drivers side door card is pretty stuffed. It's black vinyl all over. The centre piece of vinyl which surrounds the door handle has lost it's stick to the door card which has popped off the door handle surround. Also the entire door card is sitting loose on the door. I replaced the white clips which attach the bottom and sides of the door card but the top rail of clips which attaches it to the top of the door shell have all broken ( the plastic parts. ) This top rail of clips is part of the actual door card so I cant just replace it. I was thinking of tryiing to fix all this myself properly but I really think all I am going to do is leave it in a bigger mess than it is already. Does anyone know how much it would cost to get this fixed professionally? And where should i go in the Hamilton or Tauranga region? I called wreckers to try and find replacements but there are none which aren't like mine, I guess they all do this. Any help is much appreciated! Thanks.
