LOL, $250 ----> $1700. Worth a try I suppose. I better go be helpful in your other thread.

I think Motronic 1.3 can be chipped - I'm sure someone will expand (or correct me if I am wrong). I've got a G4 Storm sitting waiting for me to install it on the 2002. Installation isn't really that demanding, based on reading the manual. Ask me once I've done it MegaSquirt is a sort of DIY cheaper version (but very fully featured). Be aware that to tune yourself (which isn't necessarily easy) requires a wideband o2 (either Link or MS require it). If you are paying someone to tune it, then the bill for dyno time for a decent tune is probably $1000 +/- a wide range. There is minimal benefit without supporting modifications.

I notice that there are two e21 LSDs on Trademe. One the guy wants $2500 for. Good luck. It's a bizarre price. For that you can almost fly to America, buy one (the prices have gone up there though), and bring it home in your luggage with a free holiday included. The other is also $2500, but it comes with a free 323i.

Is that the M10 240 or the M40/M20/etc one? Are they the same.
-
Google has - search for Electric Supercharger and learn about how crap they are.
-
I'm not so sure about that - the one in my garage is single mass so I'd say its lighter - maybe 6kg. I'm also not sure you can lighten a dual mass one much safely.

Stick your hand behind the head from the passenger side of the car and check the heater hoses for the coolant leak. Saves jacking it up.

Radiator is 440mm wide. The top hose is 80mm (to the centre of the hose) from the RHS of the radiator, and the outlet for the expansion tank is in the RHS of the hose behind the square bit in the pic on the top of the radiator (if that makes sense).

The reason I asked was because as noted above, anything radical requires ditching the manifold/AFM altogether and using an aftermarket ECU. Short of that, I would just tidy it up on the inside (ie check its port matched etc), and paint it a pretty colour. By all accounts they are well matched to the other characteristics of the engine (size/camshaft etc).

Sorry but I lol'd. Its not justification for what the cop said though (he should mind his own business).

Are you sure about that (M50 being side feed?).

What is the goal/budget?

French Infiltrator - And i won't surrender!
CamB replied to DRTDVL's topic in New Member Introductions
Really? With 160hp and (at a guess) 850kg I would have thought you'd deal to everything short of an M3 up to about 120kph. A decent 205 with fresh suspension and proper tyres should outhandle your average BMW too. My 106 Rallye sure did (former Pug owner ). -

Not at all - my best mate a 205 GTI (1.6) which we replaced the suspension on (Konis with 309 arms/beam for camber/width), shorter final drive, various attempts at brakes (309 280mm discs etc then back to 106 ally calipers since they are lighter and it still stops fine). But you have to supply pics if you want to stick around -
Probably not a 325iA, as the ones I have seen (only a couple) had part of the radiator reserved for auto trans fluid. Possibly a 320i. I would expect (but not promise) that it would bolt in to all of them, but that whether it works on your car depends on which configuration of hoses you have. You can see in the picture that the in/out are top right/bottom left. According to the online ETK, the radiator is the same for Euro 323i and 320i pre-facelift, manual and auto.

German Racing Brown? Also known as Byzanz Metallic.

I'm keen to see pics

I had a better look at the pics, and then the further pics provided which show that it seems to be in excellent condition, so better than the one in the HB I said didn't sell. I'm still surprised at the 5 figure price. Its recession time.

Barry KB's car is pretty similar, and Rex Alder's one only lacks the fancy carbon airbox.

I didn't save what I typed up in the PM I sent - maybe post it in here so anyone searching in the future can see.

Oh I so kinda want it. I so must stop looking at the thread... Good luck with the sale Mike

Fuel Injectors & Fuel Rail
CamB replied to Boost Junky's topic in Forced Induction & Performance Tuning
Not quite - they have a bigger hole (or more holes, occasionally), so they flow more for the same opening period. The downside is that because of the bigger hole, it is hard to send a short enough pulse at idle. On the FPR, I think the best way for you to clear it up is to figure out if the adjustable one you have is: 1) rising rate; and 2) what the ratio is. It could be a suitable ratio.I think the Sard ones are 1:1 ratio, which I believe is fine. -
Fuel Injectors & Fuel Rail
CamB replied to Boost Junky's topic in Forced Induction & Performance Tuning
If the injector is too big you can't get it to fire for a short enough time (and or if you do it doesn't spray the fuel well etc) so you get a poor idle (or something like that). Ask me once mine is running... The FPR you have is fine for what you want. If its not it is easy to change (just further pain on the wallet). -
Its a left hand thread and you need a long slim 32mm wrench. There are special wrenches available, or you might get away with a normal one.* Note the only one I removed was, ahem, using a chisel on an engine that didn't matter.

BMW M & JCW Mini Owner's driver training day - with Mike Eady
CamB replied to M3_Power's topic in General Discussion
All cash being funnelled into the 2002 at present. Plus $400 is out there, as I don't mind mixing with (other) idiots on open days, etc. Actually if I was going I would be all in favour of non-M cars. Unfortunately the M price tag at $400 might scare people off (it occurs I effectively have the cheapest M car).
