  1. I used to work at pizza hut (deliveries) and we played the christmas tape ALL year... BECAUSE IT WAS THE BEST ONE WE HAD!!!
  2. Just read the e39 one, never seen it before! What a load of solid waste from a male cow!! Realistic urban average fuel consumption for 540i, 21.7 l/100k!! Realistic my arse! I get 13.5 all day every day! Mind you, he cant work out all the complicated buttons, so theres probably something wrong with his brain!! No surprise he thinks the lexus is better!!
  3. I'll come and see you tomorrow, i work up that way.
  4. Must have missed its last inspection II, "Item 5637, check operation of fuel pump and replace if necessary."
  5. Yeah, the only things he likes are toyota camrys, and for that alone he deserves a punch in the face! Although he was right about the 1984 honda city being the most dangerous car on the road when it was new, of course he just stole that from an Aussie test!!
  6. I think you mean "book", its the most useless BOOK youve ever seen!
  7. What car? Is it on a decent trailer? What time on Sunday? Might be able to help.
  8. Have been quoted 3k +gst "worst case" to rebuild auto, so the question is, can i convince my wife its the same cost to do a 6spd conversion? Or can i get away with " it will improve the resale value / fuel efficiency / safety" ? I will let you know!!
  9. No you wouldn't, i'd do it!! Thats what friends are for!!
  10. There is one on ebay at the moment, "unfortunately" it comes with the M5 motor as well!! More unfortunetely its £3200!!
  11. Might be a good time for you to buy it off him, make him an offer, see what he says!
  12. I wondered how long that would take!! Part of me really wants to, but part of me really likes just cruising and letting the auto do all the work! I will probably let my bank balance decide.
  13. can anyone recommend a good place to get a ZF 5hp24 transmission rebuilt, e39 540i, Auckland would be best, but the nearest ZF authorized agent is Oz, so anywhere closer than that would be good. Cheers.
  14. Guts about the car, but better it than you!! Glad to hear you'll be up and about soon. The e34 is a solid bit of car, I demo derby'd one once, stood up so well I saved it to use again!! Get well soon.
  15. From whar i understand the dsp does some pretty tricky stuff, time delays, road noise compensation etc, if it is all tuned using speaker with specification x, and you change them to speakers with specification y, it may turn to custard. I doubt that you will damage anything but the sound results might not be ideal!! If you are serious about good sound your best bet would be to bin the whole system and replace it with something newer and high quality ( major headache!) Probably best to do some more research before you start pulling trim out and buying speakers. Good luck.
  16. I managed to flip an e60 m5 in gt5, got a trophy for it and everything!! I have to wait until christmas for gt6 tho, still, gives me time to get to level 40 and do the Nurburg 24 hr!!!!!!!
  17. The main problem with buying a 15 year old $150k car is that they came with EVERYTHING, and each tick of the option sheet is something else that may need repairing!! Show me a 15 year old japanese car that has all the extras a well specced e38 or e39 has and it will cost just as much, if not more, to keep in "as new" condition!! The other thing i love is that BMW still support their oldest cars with spare parts etc. Try buying parts from honda for 1984 City turbo and they just laugh, pop down to BMW and order bits for a 1978 e21 320i and they're here 10 days later!! If it blows your hair back, go for it!! ( you can upgrade to a v8 later)
  18. E39 touring is an awesome car, the 530 is probably a good compromise of go and economy, i am always amazed at what i can get in the boot of mine, i took a full size fridge up north for my parents in the boot once!! Try that with a wrx! Plus full of safety and gizzmos! Good luck.
  19. Looks like someone forgot the e21...
  20. With high mileage and old age the chain guides wear out, its that simple. If they drop out while youre driving it, you have a nice shiny paperweight!! 2500 sounds like an ok price considering how much work is involved, if you go ahead with it, do the oil seperator behind the timing chain at the same time, its a $40 part and 2k in labour if it fails later!!! Good luck.
  21. "Spent ton of money making it look that perfect" then took some photos, on my phone, at night, In a carpark. Winning.
  22. Yeah you will need a repair cert for anything structural. If its late model ( not sure what year) it will have to be repaired " to manufacturers specifications" can be a nightmare with newer cars!! Good luck.
  23. Mine had the same hot oil smell before i did the rocker cover gaskets, oil gets down onto the back of the manifolds (and EVERYWHERE else) the boot may have the soft close thingy which might be busted, or unplugged?? If its not retracting properly the lid will not shut ( on my touring anyway, the sedan is probably similar??) good luck.
  24. Im not sure i want to end up in hospital up there, ive heard stories!! On the other hand we can get an old sofa and a helmet for one of the boys....
