  1. Bored tonight... so thought I'd see if my old E36 was for sale on Trademe... and what do you know, it is! Looking a bit worse for wear, scratches on bodywork and curbed wheels... and the girl who bought it from me has done some big k's in it! Only had about 130k's on it when I sold it! Then: Now: TM Link here TBH, I'm kinda sad seeing it how it is now. Was a beautiful car. I'm gonna go drown my sorrows in lager.

    E30 Race Car

^That'll be 192 at the flywheel. And that's on a new engine.
  4. Pretty sure cluster battery is one AA... Needs to be soldered in place. DIY job if you're confident.

    Congrats Dylan

Well done fella! I'm assuming wedding cars will be from the Motorsport stable?
  7. Standard 5 series are built to be comfortable luxury sedans, not performance weapons. You want stonking performance from a 5'er?.... save up for an M5. Also, 0-100 time is not the only way to measure performance. A colleague of mine used to own an insanely quick Evo VI, he sold it and bought a stock 330i. He said the 330i was much easier to drive at the limit and while not QUICK it was faster on normal roads than the Evo purely because the power delivery was much more tractable than that of the "all or nothing" Evo.

^ I also like how no one can tell you're reversing.
  9. Do some research. Google all you can first. I notice from your other thread that you want to buy an E39 5 series? There is plenty of information on this site about these cars, they get discussed often. Good luck!
  10. Depending on what you want.... you can get most items they sell cheaper elsewhere. What are you looking at buying?

OK ladies... let's end this now. John and Karl... take this to PM if you must but... - John, if you write inflammatory statements in your sig, prepare to be flamed. - Karl, no need to take the bait. John is harmless, even though his avatar might suggest otherwise. Back to the BM's now eh?
  12. Take your colour code to a specialist paintshop and get them to match it for you. It's usually better value to buy an aerosol and then you get the touch-up bottle at a discounted rate. (They have to mix a large-ish amount of paint up anyway). Tips: - Never use the supplied brush in the bottle cap to apply the paint. - Clean the area with wax and grease remover first. - Apply a TINY (even tinier than that) droplet of paint to the end of a toothpick. Carefully place the tip of the toothpick at one end of the scratch, allowing the surface tension to pull the paint off the toothpick into the recess. - Allow the paint to dry, then if needed use fine grades of wet sandpaper to gently remove any excess paint. - Polish to a shine. For bigger areas that require use of an aerosol, use Matt's tutorial here:
  13. ^ You need to resize your pics to 800x600 and they will upload successfully. Good luck w/ the sale.
  14. Ok just to clarify: - A Clay bar removes contaminants from your clear coat such as ground in dirt, grit etc. It is a cleaner not a polish. Claying leaves a clean surface ready for polishing. - Polish is an abrasive. The act of polishing either by hand or using a motorised buffer removes the small scratches or "swirl marks" from the clearcoat. It is like a very fine sandpaper in the way it removes the top level of clearcoat, leaving a smooth clearcoat surface behind. Varying "grades" of polish are required to effectively remove swirl marks. - Wax protects the clearcoat once you're done polishing. It is a barrier between your paintwork and the environment. It also adds that bit of extra shine. Once you have waxed, you only need to wash the car to make it shine again. Make sure to use a wool mitt and the "two bucket method" (one bucket for soap, one to rinse the mitt after every panel) to avoid creating more swirl marks. - Gradually the wax will wear off, so you should clean it off completely with dishwashing liquid and reapply every few months. - Polish again when you see swirl marks reappearing (proper washing technique will minimise their reappearance) Full rundown here (whoring my own thread again) http://www.bimmersport.co.nz/forums/index....c=21747&hl=

Cheers all! Birthday skid will have to be done in mid-jan when I come down to Chch for the w/end. Matt put some new tunes in it for me too... cheers bro!
  16. Protect it with wax and you should only need to do it every 3 months or so. Just make sure you use a gentle carwash soap and a soft woollen mitt to wash the car.

  18. G'day Tony! Welcome to the addiction! There will certainly be some members on here that can help with your audio and nav issues... namely Jochen and Hotwire, but I'm sure they'll chime in here soon. Looking forward to pictures. A 525si though? Never heard of that model... is that a hangover from your Honda days? Ha!
