  1. Hi there, where are you from? You looking at a manual or auto? There is a very good manual 328 in CHC with full history etc. I have a 328 manual and finding it just as economical as the 325 I used to own. The cooling system is the area to look most closely at, when I got the 326 the first thing i did was replace the radiator, water pump, thermostat and housing, tensioners and all belts, the total cost for the parts came to around $550 to $600. Did all this as it is a daily driver and doing just over 20,000kms per year. I didn't want any problems that could occur suddenly and cause further damage eg waterpump disintergrating and cooking the engine. Take your time buying and good luck.
  2. I would be looking for $300 for it. Comes with new tie rods and balljoints. Cheers Don
  3. I have a brand new one here in Christchurch.

    WTB M20B25

Had not thought of that, is it a common problem? Had a quick look under the rocker cover a few weeks ago but i didn't really know what i was looking for other than to check the rockers were present and correct etc. There is a vibration accompanied by noticable rrrrrrrrr noise which comes very evident at anything over 3500 rpm within the drive train. My thoughts were that this was the big end bearing or as a friend has suggested, a loosening flywheel. Will be dropping the gearbox to have a look in a couple of weeks. Really at a bit of a loss at this stage!

    WTB M20B25

Title says it all, need a replacement engine for a facelift E30 325. Old one sounds as though the big end bearing has gone. Cheers
  10. Definitely a K-jet, mechanical fuel injection, no ecu. The engine could be a transplant from an E21, the gearbox I assume is a 5 speed and is similar and interchangeable with that from an E30. The speedo dial looks like a E21 speedo with the green band and you may find then that the speedo is driven from the gearbox (as in a E21) rather than from the diff. If this is the case then a possible scenario is that the engine and gearbox have been replaced with a E21 one and because of the mechanical speedo drive, the speedo dial had to be changed as well. Interesting! I think the Kjet required a much higher fuel pressure level too. All in all, if its not an E21 and I am pretty sure BMW didn't have Kjet in E30's, then someone might have gone to great lengths to keep this old girl running.
  11. Looks as though the seats on this one came from another E21, usually blue seats means blue carpet and door trims. As Camb said - rust, I would suggest you find out who did the body work and talk to them about the car. There is a forum ( Bimmerforums) in the USA with quite a few Aussie members, get on there and ask for one of them to suss out the car for you. Being relatively rare someone will probably know it. It looks as though it has been lowered too (IMO they need it| and normally E21's do not drive very well on 16" wheels so the suspension probably has had work. Interesting wheels.
  12. Here Im pretty sure I know this car, and if it is the one I think it is then it will be as good as you will find, full service history, regular servicing etc. No shortcuts on this one.

  14. I did one of these a few years back. Great fun, much of the training was to make you more familiar with your car, its capabilities and yours. The course consisted of various activities such as panic braking, braking distances, reaction times, the advantages of ABS in the real world, slalom driving, reaction driving ( which simulates a developing motorway pileup and you have to steer and brake your way out of trouble) how to drive well on the road (and track) all at various points around Ruapuna. Then later you allowed out on the full track first behind a lead car with the braking points and apexes marked. Hot laps are also availabe in an M3 or M5. Most of the activities are done in your own car. The tutors are great, and very familiar with BMWs. There is little one on one tuition as the whole thing is set up so that you become more comfortable and trusting in yourself and your car. If you looking for race training etc, forget it. Most drivers have never extended themselves or their car and this is a way of showing off the brand and why you buy a BMW for reasons beyond looking good or impressing the neighbours. They are the Ultimate Driving Machine after all, or is it Joy?

    tow bars

its similar to this You can get that towbar machined down to the 1 and 7/8th size. Last time I heard it was $120 here in Chch. Chapman engineering in Maryland Place Christchurch if you cannot find anyone in Wellington.
  16. I think you are under valueing the car. The way I see it, if you loose the car then what will it cost to find another in similar or better condition? They are pretty rare and sought after, they sell quickly so you need to have enough insurance money to swing a deal your way. Money talks. Also, I think the value is going to continue to increase and you no doubt will improve its value (wheels, servicing, replacing parts etc) so that must be taken into account too. Finally people like J G BMW have no idea of the value of such a car, but ask them for the name and number of the vehicle broker they use to get rid of the trades they have have no place for, he would have to be LMVD registered and will deal with unusual cars all the time I reckon its replacement value would be $8500, subject to a lot more info.
  17. Hi, your inbox is full so I cannot send you a PM
