  1. Haha. He found it alright, turns out it wasn't an M20 one after all. Lucky me http://bimmersport.co.nz/topic/50624-m20-flywheel-kinda/?hl=flywheel
  2. Tartan interior, tech2 rear, LSD, BBS RS look genuine, turbo m42 motor. Probably a good score for someone.
  3. From that side picture it doesn't look like an m20 one. Just the way the front face has a gap between the ring gear. I'll find photos of mine pretty sure I had side on ones. Maybe it's from a m40?
  4. If you use a 240 from a m40 e30 then you don't need to worry about the engine tilt as the m40 sits on the same angle so box bolts right in with no modification to linkage or cross member. But looking good, I like that color. Not one you see often.
  5. Thread wouldn't have been complete without the resident douchebag
  6. There are plenty of e30 springs that will get you very low in the rear. H&R Sports. Jamex superlows. Sounds like your going into "stupid low" category
  7. The sellers form is to cover your own behind really, as the buyer may not change ownership right away making you liable for registration fees etc until change of ownership. Found that out the hard way..
  8. Hmm yikes! Not sounding too good. Was it low on oil at the time, I had that sump and pickup modified higher when I broke it so it's about 40mm higher and probably lost a litre of capacity so if it was low it could have been lower than you thought, either way that could have contributed to it (seemed like a bright idea back then since it was sitting very low in the front).

    The bastard child.

At what point did they become important? I had the sensors back to front on my m52 for each front and rear bank and it ran like shite.
  10. Nice. You've got it sitting perfect front and back.
  11. Possibly, Depends how you modify and fit the headers. On mine I had to relocate one because the way it was sitting there was no room for the sensor.
  12. e36 328i harness only has provisioning for 2 sensors, one on each bank. As long as you place them in the headers, or somewhere abit further back (before merging together if you plan to run a single exhaust), should be fine. I don't actually think Euro M52's had the downstream 02 sensors

    1989 E30 320i

That back seat looks sweet, what e36 do they come from? Hatch, Coupe or Sedan? Always wondered if the rear seats from a 318i compact would fit a touring but they are quite different setup to normal e30's....

    Quick Questions

Actually never followed that guide, followed another more simpler method. You are right though, it took a few hundred KMs and it was better than ever. But I ended up ripping it all apart again anyway to change cams. Btw, Is your PM box full?
  15. Checked Fuse? #13 and #14 are Left / Right.
  16. Cheers guys, definitely a lot to take in and consider but not in a rush to sink into anything. Dave, that is some solid advice. Im for sure after the #3 "Pro" type tools rather than Workshop level - I will definitely look into the Teng tools range as I was considering building up my own set and that sounds quite ideal. And yup deep sockets and all that are on my list, too many times I've come across those hard to get bolts which would be a breeze with the right sockets! My current tools consist of random sockets and ratchets I've picked up along the way, bought individually. I once had a complete Jonnesway kit which I still have the ratchets, but the sockets are mostly gone because I kept them in a small throw-all-in box instead of seating them back into the proper tray box. I'm basically missing all the common e30 sizes 8mm, 10mm, 13mm etc.
  17. Anyone got any recommendations for tool kits / socket sets? Looking for Socket sets, Ring spanners, Screw Drivers, Pliers etc or the whole lot in a metric tool kit since I have problems losing sockets and stuff all the time I want a proper complete set to start off with instead of the random tools and things i've picked up along the way, sitting in a generic toolbox that I can't for the life of me tell when I've lost something until I'm looking for it. Pretty much looking for a quality branded set which includes a mix of 1/4 3/8 and 1/2 drive, Deep sockets / 6pt and 12pt that will last me for quite some years. Something like this is quite appealing which seems to include everything you could need really http://www.qualitytools.co.nz/255pc-metric-tool-p-55.html So far I have been looking at SP Tools, Teng Tools, Toptul and SnapOn (which my flatmate tells me is one of the best, however seems quite overpriced) Considering either buying a kit like above, or buying a box and adding the trays etc with specifics that I want depending which works out the best. Any recommendations for sites / shops or brands ?
  18. Buy a spare head and just spend a day swapping it on then. If your one turns out good just sell it on. It's quite straight forward, just takes some time. Plenty of write ups around.
  19. I picked up my engine complete for $500 from a guy local selling it to do an electric motor conversion. Only bought it because it was too good of a deal to pass on, wasn't even looking for one or planning to do a swap. I also sold my old m20b25 for $700 which was a mint runner and offset the costs afterwards, so probably actually spent a little over $1500 haha.
  20. Sounds like someone botched it up in the past. The kms are quite high too if that's the original engine. Why does the Vanos put you of an m52? It's actually a easy straight forward motor to work on. I can take you for a whip around in mine, if you need some convincing
