  1. I have a small gas/gasles unit ( Italian unit from the Tool Shed ) and if using gas I use disposable bottles that the Tool Shed sells. I think they are about $30 - $40 by memory, fine for DIY work, saves paying rental on bottle from BOC if you only use welder 2 or 3 times a year! People on trademe sometimes sell the larger Soda-Stream bottles with adaptor, but they would be CO2 only, I think the Tool Shed Disposables are Argonshield.
  2. I didn't think much of the Peugeot section - If I was Peugeot NZ I'd be pulling any adverts in Fairfax publications! Myself and three friends have Pugs and have had no problems other than normal maintainence, this sort of generalisation is not good for brand image. Bad 'journalism' Mod - right up there with the 'Dog and Lemon Guide'
  3. Perhaps it was a divorce settlement ......... ........ 1/2 each
  4. Bogans Click on the 'What is a Bogan ' for example Classic !
  5. That is NOT an SLR It is an SLR Styled compact or what they call a 'Bridge' camera Fine camera in its own right, but not an SLR
  6. What is is with the crooked number plates ??????????????? Can anybody explain it to me ? Is it supposed to look 'Cool" Cause I think it looks bloody stupid! Maybe I'm just a grumpy old bastard! /rant
  7. Ask them to let you take the same pics with both lenses - the 17-85 certainly is a much better constructed lens, but I have tried both the 18-55 and 17-85 on my 20D and to be honest I could hardly tell the difference! There is a lot of 'gear snobbery' in the photo game, everybody loves to bag the kit lens! The 17-85 is image stablised though, which is a bonus - although I think the newest 18-55 are too?? My Canon pricelist has the 40D kitted with the 17-85, so if they are selling the 18-55, they must be buying separatley? Sorry to muddy the waters!!
  8. 400D/450D v's 40D -- To put this in car perspective, think of the 400/450 as a Three series, and the 40D as a Five series !! Both fine bits of kit, but one is built to be the 'everymans' car/camera and one is for more serious drivers/shooters! There is a vast difference in the build quality of the 400/450 and the 40D range ( I am a camera repairer! ) You can hear' the difference if you shoot with both. Canon SLR Gear basically the smaller the number, the high up the 'pecking order' So the top is EOS 1, next range two digits ( 10D, 20D, 30D, 40DF, 50D ) Next range 3 digits ( 300,350,.400,450 ) bottom rung is the EOS1000D. You get it eh! But ..... you are unlikely to wear out a 450D with casual use, so if the cost difference is high, put the extra money into lenses - this is where you will see the most difference in picture quality - but iof you can get a 40D for $200 more - GRAB IT NOW!! Live View -- I am baised here and think that it is a GIMICK to get Girls to buy DSLR's !! Cause they are used to holding their compact cameras at arms length, but all good photographers know that it is better to hold the camera to your eye to brace it against camera shake!
  9. +2 Out with the Hair-Dryer
  10. This happened to my son too, took him about 15 mimutes to ring Local Telecom shop and the so and so's had already been in and changed the number Surely Telecom should take id and names when they change numbers?? Seems they really don't care about his, and are only interested in getting the topups! They would not give us the new number either - so they protected the villians, not the victim!
  11. Fancy a Road Trip ?? Spotted this last weekend at Armstrongs in Dunedn, they have $14 995 on the window now, only 85 K's, real tidy too. BTW - I have a 1996 done just on 100k and so far the only problem I have had is the windscreen washer motor, which I replaced last week ( real easy ) Had the car for 12 months now. Armstrongs Dunedin
  12. Taken from an Early 60's magazine
  13. Riley, Ask GF's permission, and post one of these on the Edge car calendar competition - she will blow away the competion! Edge Morning Madhouse
  14. Just thinking ...... A few of you said they did not notice Riley's car due to 'other features' of the pics....... Well in this one, you can't see PAST the other features !!
  15. Mid-West USA version of the same photo shoot. Fairly Similar .......
  16. Thanks - so will we be able to use the same phone on both networks by changing simcard, or will phones be locked to one network? How about those dual Sim phones, could you have Vodafone & Telecom Sims in one phone, utilise best features and deals from each provider?? Cheers. edit - spelling
  17. There is lots of conflicting rumours about the new Telecom WCDMA mobile network - rollout was to be November this year, but one site now says June / July 2009. Does anybody on these boards work in the industry? What is the guts? What sort of phones / plans are we likely to see - $10 text retained? Any goss would be great! Cheers
  18. Does anybody know of a product I can use to clean the interior of my car without leaving glossy / greasy finish? Did some searching on Google and came up with 1Z Cockpit Premium But cannot find any NZ sellers via the www - hjas anybody seen it in shops? Any other recommendations? Want to provide UV protection as car is outside during day at work, but want to retain matt look. Cheers
  19. "Or v8 conversion(has getrag gear box, bellhousing can be sourced to bolt to 350 chev" Yuch
  20. Yep, I am sure it is the same here. That is why my BMW got keyed right down the side I am sure! I get lots of snide comments about driving a BMW too - Especially when they see it is a V8. Thing is, it cost 1/4 or less than a new Falcondore V8, so where is the 'prestige' anyway!
  21. +1 While we are on that, I hate those who drive with their foglights on all the time too! Blinds other drivers. The LTSA website clearly says they can only be used in bad weather, and when NOT to blind other road users. Can't understand why they changed the rules re the wiring - I can remember having spots on my old RX2 in the eighties, and having to wire them to dip with the cars dip switch. Rant over
  22. Strikes me as the bastard child of an Alfa 159, BMW 8 series and a Contach! Must have been some crash!
  23. Don't believe everything printed in the paper. From the 'Horses Mouth' Topgear Reaction to news stories
  24. Thanks! I like it too - it is now my desktop pic. DSLR ( Canon 20D ) set at 3200 ISO to get that.
  25. Thought I'd post a few pics of BMW's I spotted during my recent trip to Paris for you to enjoy : Transporter full of new BMW's, near The Louvre E39 on the Champs Elysees E30 spotted at Place de la Concorde
