Did this used to me owned by a really really anal man who got it worked on at JCbmw? and it is quite low from standard? I must say I prefer the style 5's, saw you around herne bay a bit actually... and then on jervois a while ago with new rims on.

Crap tyres and a wrecked car are both inter-twined with each other along with no wof, no rego, no insurance, reckless driving and I dare say socio- economic status. It's a moot point really.

Havent yet changed the fluid, and may I add that the shift is the same whether the car is running, moving or completely turned off. Not having driven a sport- oriented manual for a while, I thought the stick travel was very short and assumed immediately that she has had a short shift installed. If she has, then the stiffness may be accentuated by this I feel.

Very nice. E30 4 cyl's make the best dailys

Cheers for the replies guys, Yes she has 190km and has not been meticuously cared for. I will definitely do the fluid, and deal with clutch. I got in mum's 190km 1999 manual rav which she has had from new and the gearchange was like a cloud in comparison

Hi all, newest project which I am finding very hard to get passionate about is an nz new manual 1997 318iS. It has plenty of good bits etc so is worth getting nice. Hoodlining done (may have to do it again at some stage!) etc etc. Also seems to want the starter gear lubed up a bit as when she is hot she whirrs first time you try to start, then engages on the next one. Really annoying. Anyhow I digress. The gearchange while not crunchy and not falling out of gear, isnt exactly easy. I don't force the gearstick as that can't be a good idea, instead I ease each gear in. It isnt THAT hard, but I'm erring on the side of caution. Is it an internal or external problem? Cheers

Completely jealous. What a classic BMW

My e36 318 coupe came with kingstars which had fine tread but were ALL age damaged with serious cracks and finitely localised perish bulges on 2 of them. Went and got 4 new pirellis quick smart (and became very very poor). Genuinely sh*t tyres.

Its a lot easier to justify than spending it on something new!

Beautiful car. I agree that it would be a good idea to leave it mostly how you have it now. I have been down the same track with my now ex- E30 and realised that I needed to stop as cars like these will never be a manual 330i. I was happy in the end that these cars have features and likeable things that the 330 will never have.

On the 2002 there was an italic/ calligraphy 'touring' badge.

fitted new quarter window seals and sill seals to my e36 coupe. sh*t! what a job when I didnt know how to fit them, + a few beers. Got there very nicely in the end. Learning more and more about e36's and how the plastics just arent like they were in e30's.

The old Bonito Hydrolifts are also very very good boats. They did a larger one (21ft IIRC) but rare and too heavy for you to tow.

I dont think you can get immaculate for 20k.... But you can still get a perfectly good: 1. Haines V198 (killer sea boat with a 220 yamaha on back) 2. An old Smuggler asking for a 225hp outboard swung out on a pod. Dream hull, heavy and very deep. 3.Figlass Viscount (fantastic hull, tiny bit lighter than the haines and timeless styling) 4.Vista Craft 17'6" (grand hull, strong as hell, not too big) 5. Morgan 6.3 (fantastic big volume sea boat, huge vee, heavy as hell) Buy one of those, immediately.

You have a really nice car there, clean your wheels! Rat is out

Looking beautiful, fantastic taste which is rare. Edit: You are also a very good car photographer. No graffiti'd background or unreal location in sight, and just a really nice shot.

Cool and comparably well priced compared to what some seem to be advertised for! I would however have to disagree that black on black is a nice colour. It just happens to sell well to the masses who are lacking individuality and original taste. (EDIT: That comes off a little fresh; I don't mean to offend anyone.)

SOLD pending payment tomorrow

+1. Keys aren't that dear from BMW anyway

Hi guys, I have my 318i up on trademe. As much as I love the car and don't mind at all if she doesnt sell, I need a car with air conditioning for long distance driving this summer. Failing a sale she will be put with the rest of the fleet in a shed and I will have to scab a car from parents. Trademe link

Must have been a grey period, as I had an 'R' plated vanos E36

I had an uncle with a 4 door one who had it done on his back whenevner. I don't think it's a car that needs heated debate mind, a tweaked engine alone doesn't add much value if any to a car like these. Also aside from receipts from a workshop, anyone with half a brain can guess that there will not be any other evidence, and certainly not on its rego.
