Although I cant comment specifically on bmw's nor on an M3, a year ago my Mercedes had the SAME symptoms, and at that it was intermittent. I took it to my mercedes agent who said sounds like you need a new chain. I 'did my reading' etc via the net, where people ranted on about chains lasting forever. In turn I removed and cleaned up the tensioner. When I replaced the tensioner she had a constant noise that I assumed was something else I had broken. The real fix in the end was a new chain, easy to fit and cheaper than a cambelt change! The chain WAS stretched to buggery and in servicing the tensioner to full working condition, had caused the chain to tighten and grind over the cogs.

i have my nanas 1982 4 door 4 speed manual 1.2 starlet with 90 original km and only 1 bit of rear hatch rust... Am wanting to flick it off, is $1500 what i should be asking?? i seriously wouldnt have a clue, as all for sale are modified.... Opinions please!

Use paint stripper, a hose with good pressure at the ready and be careful ive done it on shadowlining before, but wouldnt reccommend to the faint hearted!

I seem to remember 8's coming in with no end of electrical and susp problems..... but maybe they were imports or something. I vote early SL (but with the glass roof) of any engine size..... amazing build quality and they look so damn good! the only convertible a man can drive.
