  1. how on earth did you take (stage?) that pic? Put it on a dyno or use some engine tool? Got your pm (thanks) but I'm going to have to give it a miss, I can't find a nice E34 touring at the moment. I'll be after one though in the long term

I like those BBS RK wheels, how wide are they front and rear?
  3. Yeah it annoys the hell out of me too, my mum insists that her Legnum ST-R gets worse fuel economy that her 626 because she 'is constantly filling it up' what she forgets is that the light in the Legnum comes on when you've used 40 litres (it has a 60 litre tank, but the light comes on early) and with the 626 the light typically came on at about 55 litres, it's tank was 64l so not much bigger. Explaining it doesn't stop her complaining though, even if they use about the same amout of litres per 100km! E32's have 102l tanks, E38's and E65's are around 88-90l An E32 with the I6 would go forever!
  4. Yuen - when they were cruising up to Manchester they got a solid 10l/100km out of it at 80mph, which means that at nz speeds of 100kmh, I'd probably be able to get 1000km out of the 90l tank Imagine that conversation, I got 1000km out of a tank of gas! other guy: wtf do you drive, a prius? me: no a bmw other guy: a diesel then? me: no a 5.6l v12 that has a 90 litre tank of 98 octane
  5. I have to agree with removing the M badge, other than that it is an outstanding looking car, the wheels are quite nice too.
  6. when my friends drove my 8 around in manchester for a day they averaged 24l/100km. beat that!

I think that 17x8 and 17x9 throwing stars would look pretty hot on an E34....... /runs!
  8. zenetti, I just realised where I know you from, you had a VR-4 for a while and posted on club vr-4
  9. any news on the price of the whole car?

    The 850CSi is home

nahh haven't got the bumper back from exclusive panel and paint yet. Once I get it back I'll get it complied and on the road.
  11. hmm, are you interested in selling the whole thing, and if so, how much?
  12. They just aren't worth very much any more. If I wasn't able to have an E31 I'd have to get an nice late model 750iL Such beautiful cars and so much value for money
  13. I remember having a cop tail gating me in my work car a little while ago, it was last year just after that cop pulled out in front of those two bikers and killed them while doing a u-turn. (will become relevant later on) I was coming up to some kids walking on the side of the road and one of them looked towards the road and sort of moved to the side as if they were about to cross. Now realistically the road was very wide, there were no other cars around and I was still some distance away from them and I was sitting bang on 50kmh (which was making the cop tailgate even more) So I slammed on the brakes, hard, really hard. The cop stopped about 1 metre away from my rear bumper with his ABS kicking in hard. The kids got a bit of a fright - I still stopped 15m or so away from them and they weren't going to cross just then anyway, but meh I figured I had done well and they were only scared because of the cops abs kicking in. Anyways, I started off again and after driving for a little while he flicked his lights on and pulled me over, asking if it was necessary for me to hit the brakes like that. I said that yes because they might have crossed the road and they were only little kids, I couldn't trust them to make the decision and I figured it was much safer to slow down quickly just in case rather than continuing to drive and possibly running them over. I said that if he had been following the 2 second rule correctly he wouldn't have nearly crashed into the back of my car and would have had more time to react and wouldn't be angry at me now. He said he was a cop and could do whatever he wanted, so I asked him if that included doing a u-turn on a blind corner killing two bikers, or perhaps that was taking it a bit far, but running over kids crossing a road because you were tail gating someone was ok? He was umm rather pissed with me to say the least, I asked him for his name and number, he didn't say a thing, so I just drove off. f**king wanker
  14. probably stolen or a fake auction or something. as for the 760 engine, argghhhhh I so would have bought that! 860CSi
  15. I'm none of those 3 camps I like 5 spoke or twin 5 spoke (such as the stock evo 9 wheel or wedsport TC-005's) on japanese cars, but on BMW's my tastes are more varied. Wheels like the bmw style 126 and the throwing stars are very unusual and I think a unique design like that would be kind of cool
  16. hmm, it's been imported, has small grainy photo's in the ad and no comments or anything, sounds dodgy to me. now if it was a 760 I'd steal the v12 from it
  17. Well the first auction finished at $3k, the next one was $2.5k and this one is just above $2k. He must be kidding if he thinks offering it for $5k will actually get any real responses. I think that next time around someone has to go and take the car for a test drive lol
  18. I've seen vista on quite a few customers machines and it is slow and crappy unless you throw a lot of hardware at it, ie a Core 2 Duo over 2ghz, 2gb ram and at least a 7600GS graphics card. If you want it to be really snappy, 4gb of ram and a 10k or 15k SAS hard drive really helps, but rather expensive for the average person
  19. you have to pay gst on the value of the car, and the freight, plus factor in about $200 for cleaning, $100-150 for transport to the compliance place, $500-700 for compliance (assuming nothing needs fixing) and $515 for a statement of compliance from bmw if your car needs it.
  20. Did you ever manage to confirm if they were 9" or 9.5"? I'm curious

you know, I really can't answer that. I really want M6 wheels or Style 126 wheels, and selling the wheels would get me quite a bit of money - remember these are the ultimate turbines, 17x8 10mm and 17x9 19mm. But I do kind of want to keep them as winter wheels or whatever and obviously they are very light and strong. Hmmmmm I really don't know.
  22. The whole SLAB thing and huge wheels make no sense to me. I am of the opinion that new rules should be introduced that limit you to plus 2" sized wheels, ie if the car had 16's on as stock you are allowed 18's. There is a similar rule in Victoria and it works very well, you don't see shitty old cars with huge wheels driving all over Melbourne. But then again, if you install harder springs to get better ride quality, your car typically tends to drop 30-40mm, and when do you get recatagorised into the slab category? The 100mm (or is it 110mm?) ride height rule needs to apply to more of the car imho
  23. no tolerance on wof is a bit harsh in my opinion. My VR-4 didn't have a warrant for about 2 weeks once, I took it to a place who said the lower suspension arm bushes were slightly worn and needed replacing, so I drove it back home and left it at home until the part came in from Japan, took it to the place and told them to fit it, then do the warrant. I drove the car without a warrant that was in perfect condition (it would have flown through the wof) apart from one suspension arm that was slightly worn, and I only drove it once to the wof place to get it sorted. If a cop stopped me on the way and tried to get it crushed, well I hate to be honest here, but I'd drive off and out run him. I love my cars and I keep them in the absolute best condition wherever I possibly can and try my hardest to make them as safe as possible. Yes, I've cleaned the underneath of the car with a tea towel and a bowl of water/car wash before!

Awesome Can't wait to see pics. My turbines will be off my car soon, they are nice and all, but 17's just look too small on an 8, they really do!
