  1. Yes, kit sets. Toyota, Nissan and Ford did have NZ specific cars though and a lot of the Textiles and paints as well as other things were made locally. Im no economist but im guessing lots of Jobs were lost.
  2. That’s the meanest video I have seen in a very long time, thanks for sharing!! How cool is that J turn around the marker at 3.00! Helps when you have massive sponsors like Subaru USA and DC shoe co. He is the same guy that came down to NZ and did some driving on a snow board track plus jumped the car like 100foot and broke his back.
  3. It could work out ok.. Didn’t measure the intercooler very well did he, half of it is covered up making it kind of pointless. He should put a Nissan front bumper on it.
  4. Cheers guys, apparently it looks a bit of an old man’s car. It drives bloody well for a car of its price, the CDX-I is called the GTS in Germany and I can see why with its nice heavy steering and stiff lowered sport suspension, goes really well. Very fast on the back roads whilst staying composed with Lexus like quietness on the rough stuff. Will see what it’s like on gas, I have only had two short drives and have been giving it stick so it’s up in the 11’s.. Would recommend one over a Mazda 6 or Accord Euro. I feel kind of smug driving it, almost as if I have found unknown gem, would love to see a better all round car of the same year for the same money!
  5. Maybe you got a deal, the price does not work out a hell of a lot different and in some cases cars are cheaper here. I will agree to disagree with you on this buddy, I have a lot of family in Europe and every time they come over for a Holiday they are in disbelief as to how cheap and easy it is to be a motorist in NZ, it really is a luxury in Europe. They are amazed that we have 5 cars in our household whereas they have 1. Thanks Rotty. I grew up with NZ assembled Toyota’s that were reliable and cheap, I still own a NZ assembled Toyota’s and it will outlive me! I guess I just like to remember the days when NZ had a car industry, I fell very proud driving my Corolla, much prouder than I would driving a cheap skate pretentious import “luxury†refuge vehicle.
  6. That car looks very nice, maybe there is an undisclosed reason as to why its so cheap, could be rough as guts underneath. For sale, BMW E30 320i Touring, has blown water pump but is still driveable short distances..
  7. Awesomeness I want one. But out the back for tail gators.. Mazda 3.. with a bang
  8. 1999? Um the same, only the Japanese imports were 10 years older. Cars were in line with Australia as far as know, im only 27 so maybe im to young to remember.
  9. They stopped making the 406 more than three years ago so that would be impressive. Their cars aren’t a lot cheaper than ours and they pay a hell of a lot in Tax, petrol and insurance so it actually works out more expensive to own a car there. But I won’t com pare the UK as it’s a completely different environment. Look at Australians fleet and that is how ours would look without imports, last time I was there the car was newer and in much better condition, im not sure if this is due to stick rules or better maintenance. Down town Auckland looks like Japan 10 years ago.
  10. BMW’s would cost more but a lot of us would still have them, Japanese imports aren’t responsible for Kiwi’s being able to afford a car, they are responsible for enabling kiwi’s to drive premium car regardless of whether or not they can afford to maintain it or what condition it is in. They have enabled people to pretend they have money and are up the class chain where in reality they are driving a piece of unwanted rubbish from a "wealthier" country. Imports are driving people away from purchasing new cars and putting a lot of people of certain brands as they know how quick they will depreciate in our market due to Imports. Spend a week in Australia and you’ll notice a better quality fleet of cars as they don’t have imports like we do, you’ll see younger people are driving newer reliable cars like Corolla’s and Lancers. In Ausi is that BMW’s aren’t regarded as the piece of crap unreliable pretentious cars they are here.
  11. I have no idea how much my car is lowered, im thinking 30mm rear 35-40mm front and it sits level visually with a respected stance. I would love it as low as in my sig but alas I am old and fat and over shocks bottoming out! Parked next to Jason’s white wagon the other day mine did look a bit high. I personally find the VOTGTLAND springs a bit soft, would go with Coilovers if I was to start over. .
  12. Hoping for you!! I would love to see them brought down to what they are actually worth. Exchange rate wise they are stupidly expensive here.. Realised wagon is coming up for age and takes back comments..
  13. Im sorry Brian but yea right, striving to make a living selling the best possible cars we can get. From the past few week of looking at cars 75% of what I have seen has been other countries unwanted crap. Sorry to sound all Winston and a tad extremist but I wish cars were still "expensive" It would stop people from replacing them like tampons and inject some money back into out auto industry (what left bar retailers) it would maybe teach people to look after what they have a bit better and make them remember driving a car is a luxury not a given. The amount of wrecks is quite alarming also, there are so many sh*t boxes piling up as its often cheaper to buy another crapanese import than it is to fix the crapanese import you already have. There are simply more cars then there are people they are everywhere.
  14. Its Vauxholdopel.. They are designed in Germany, Built in the UK then badged in Australia then sent here. They are a fantastic car that is overlooked down here in NZ, shits all over a Mazda 6 (atenza) or an Accord Euro for the same kind of money. Have treated the 3.2 to a big mouth intake with K&N panel already, sounds bloody nice, love the flat torque (300+NM) curve from 2000rpm.
  15. Yep, I hate them for what they have done, not for what they are. I like the system in Australia and England where to sell a import it has to be different than what was available new in their country, this protects there industry. I will only buy NZ new and will try to purchase models that aren’t available in Japan to save with depreciation.
  16. A Holden Vectra CDXI (the nice one) for the missus.. Looks hot and goes really well, needs the Apex touch to clean it up as it was a company vehicle and has a few blemishes. Silver. 65,000km good price.
  17. Purchased a car from turners today, was quite easy as the car had already had an AA check and the chap seemed quite chirpy after paying $120 for a onsite check. Its quite scary test driving a car in a building and not being aloud on the road! I believe you get what you pay for at turners, their cars are mostly crapanese imports but there are a few NZ new gems, mines rough around the edges but at a nearly 8k saving over dealership im not to concerned.
  18. They have to come off?? Do I buy a genuine BMW water pump or will one from Part master be ok? Hae been told to do the thermostat also.
  19. Just did a pressure test (bung and compressor) and water is leaking out from the front where the pump is.. Looks like im learning how to replace a water pump tonight! Yay.
  20. Over the weekend my wagon decided it would drop all of its coolant out the bottom somewhere, I think the cooling system is envious of the gearbox seal leaking oil. Before I jump under and get covered in crap I thought id quickly ask if there is a common that I should check for?? I can’t seem to refill the radiator so it makes it hard to check for leaks, why is the system so complicated looking?? Thanks
  21. Happy Birthday Glenn I would be interested to see what the busiest time for birthdays is, Im sure it’s the beginning of November!
  22. Shot Bro! Wish I could do that.
  23. Thanks guys, had a massive night and have been paying for it all day :puke:
  24. Personally I cant stand used imports and wouldn’t buy one. I wish they would shut the doors on them.
  25. So it’s a Japanese import and not NZ new
