Great looking car with a nice history. Welcome.

I love the Vehicross too, starting to think I must be a sicko. The thing to remember with the Vehicross is that is a very old vehecle, like mid 90's, when they come out I remember thinking how awesome it was with all the black plastic and integrated styling that was common place a few years later, it was a ground breaking vehicle. Someone mentioned "anything french" earlier and I am well aware some of their cars are polarizing to some who perhaps like potatoes and beef and who perhaps have never had a decent curry or a creme brulee, but the French have built so many undeniably beautiful cars that were/are ahead of their time that the "anything french" comment just makes you sound like a 14 year old you-tube commenter that needs to pick up a book or learn a thing or two about automobiles and realize cars were build before 1994 and that there is more to a car than a badge and a set of nice rims. This is probably my favorite, so ahead of its time and still modern and beautiful looking 60 years later

That interior is V nice How I am I going to watch UHF TV on a small poorly lit box shape and control my tape player from the steering wheel because I have short arms and long legs without those modern features? Guess not the car for me What I am looking for an used import as so I can throw my new euro plates on it and enjoy some Japanese navigation on the way to the workshop, I also want a mystery service history because I am spontaneous and like adventure, I would also like some grey velour seats because it reminds me of baby ducks.
-
Not a fan of the Embroidery on the seats, looks like a nice car though, seems expensive. Being a face-lift and basket weave fan I would prefer this can even if they were the same cost. http://www.trademe.co.nz/motors/used-cars/...n-575592728.htm

E36 M3 brakes on a light E30 with decent disks, pads and fluids would be more than capable for Targa/Rally etc, its not as hard on brakes as track driving, you need to choose a forgiving pad that will last, so many cars end up in ditches from massive lock ups. Good to have a idea of what you want to do though, that way you build the car to suite the events.
-
Cool project. I see you mentioned Targa, If you plan on using it in Targa be aware it will be in a category with some tough competition, would no longer be considered a classic so you would be in the top open class 2WD. It would be a fast car though if you can control it, you would want its suspension set as compliant and forgiving as possible, this does not go hand in hand with track driving, something to keep in mind. What brakes you running up front? Good luck, hope to see in some events one day.

Spotted a brand new BMW M5 down town crawling in traffic around the beer festival on Saturday, didn't have a lot of road presence and I was surprised that not one person in the large group we were walking with even noticed it even after walking past it three times, outwardly the brakes were the only give away. Suppose that's why M5 are still the best Q cars then.

We can thank pedestrian safety rules for most of the ugly cars these days, most have high fronts and nice soft bonnets.

where to buy good price standard shocks?
Apex replied to lightshine's topic in Brakes, Suspension & Steering
SAS in Manukau do the BOGE range that is the same as OEM, wont be any cheaper but will be better than KYB or any other rubbish Repco will try and sell you. -
Very cool. Love the sound of the E30 M3. You should get a long to a Targa event to do a a bit of spectating if you like that, plenty of nice sounding BMW's in isolation, its a different experience than seeing a whole bunch on track. If anyone is interested, the best thing you can do is voluntar to be a corner or road block marshal, you get some great positions close to the action! Rally organizers are always looking for help.

Its not the new price that gets me, its the depreciation, $265,000 today, $85,000 in less than three years with no warranty left! Scary... I suppose if you are earning enough to buy one the tax right off is more attractive than giving the money to the unemployed. Agree they do look much better though, would not say they are great looking but much better, less vulgar, even the new 6 series with 4 doors looks nice-ish. Think I would take a Euro Delivery Porsche 991 GT3 for that money, take it across Europe to run it in and send it home... I think I just pictured retiring happy. Ugly thread, I nominate the grill on the new Lexus range, I understand they want to get attention and have a recognize grill like the Europeans, but surly they could have come up with something better than this.

E60 is looking a bit dated, its in that twilight zone the E39 is starting to come out of. New or near new they are awesome, then they spend 10 years being not new enough to live up to the pretentious image and not old enough to be cool again. A tidy M-Sport version does look nice though Why not post a picture of your beautiful car's so I can laugh at them as I did mine on page one

Working on improving down force/stability on the race car. Does anyone have anything like this lying around that they no longer/want? Happy to offer fair penny. Something like this, don't need the extensions. Keen to discus other options if anyone has opinions. Thanks

Nice! I like it when they put body kits on body kits as so it looks like the car has two body kits and renders the car useless at anything other than cruising slowly.. exactly what a Turbo AWD is good for! My favorite is when someone takes a very fast and capable car like an EVO or STI and replaces the suspension with some unknown $1,000 coilovers lowering it so much that it can barely corner on anything short of smooth off ramp and then replaces the factory 7x8" wheels and high performance tyres with some heavy 19x7.5's wrapped in whatever is cheapest bro. They think it looks smart, who am I to argue Yup, there is no fact that any car is actually ugly, its like me saying your wife is ugly yet in your eyes she is the most beautiful person in the world. The 1988 Grope A SS is someones wife wearing all the clothes she owns at once with an outer layer of glad wrap, if she takes all that off I'm sure she is awesome underneath.

In my opinion yes, I understand as good as any that the appeal of an object can be in a childhood memory, the way it works, the dollar value given or can even be decided by your peers, we have all brought things or formed opinions based on popularity or the opinions of others, you know, worn something because your mates were, decided the nek minnit guy was funny. Given you had never seen a car before and had no idea that it was a valuable car to rich bogans, would you honestly say it was not a hideous car? Its like they took a car designed with half ruler, a compass and Pizza Hut pencil and melted burnt blue-tack over the top. IMHO A mate had one of these when I was 15, was his first car and given to him by his granddad, must say he got a bit of grief for it, was the same colour and all.

Two of my favorite cars from the early 90's, the Super-boss sounds amazing. Thanks for sharing!
-
Ha, they fall into a massive group of Japanese imports that look similar, I hate them because one drove into my race car and wrote it off last year! RE the VL Group-A SS, as you probably well know they were dubbed the Plastic Pig when new, I remember when the first batch landed in NZ, a mates dad had one brand new.. it was actually stolen and found as a bare shell within a year, build plate, vin and all, there must be a fake one out there somewhere! Even the Cosworth Sierra had nothing on the beautiful E30 M3.

No offense Michael but how old are you? I remember seeing the S-Class when it was released in 1989 and I can assure you it was a well received, handsome and show stopping car at what used to be the national motor-show. Feeling old. I think the main reason they are so cheap is the massive service costs, expect 20-50k for a overhaul Whilst I'm in my time machine, check out monstrosity of fail.

E36/46? *picture me trollin

The CLS is a polarizer, a love or hate deal. When it come out it was revolutionary and now Audi & BMW have their own versions of the 4-door Coupe, the A7 is a sexy car, not sure about the BMW though. Those pictures have double fisted my chrome browser and it is about to make a formal complaint to the special victims unit, no one needs to see a Mazda that big, its like my desktop has become a window and there is some horrible Japanese car parked behind my desk.

Nissan Duke is a cool car.... I love cars that a different and unique, there is a thin line between different and unique and just ugly though, Bangle f**ked all BMW's of the last ten or so years but did a fantastic job on the Fiat Coupe for example, he crossed the thin line. It does like to shake its ass.. fully crossed up at speed that make people sh*t themselves quite frequently in fact ;)

Beautiful 90's Ford at its best there... I did think the Probe looked good when I spotted one as Kid.
-
liking naked photo's of small children makes you a bad person, liking a AU falcon just makes you a Bogan. Congratulations please pick up your box of Woodstocks and Rock FM tee shirt from reception.

Here are couple that are just plain sh*t, not adventurous, quirky or clever, just sh*t. Can think of a sh*t tone of JDM cars I see on the road too that make me laugh because they are just so lazy and lack any character at all, most of Toyota's range for example, Mitsubishi not far off, Nissan... Honda have had a few jems. Oh, basically any ford from the 90's can f**k off. Especially this one .

Renault Megane II I know its ugly because I own one and get told how ugly it is all the time.. To me its its like owning a weird dog (I own a weird dog too so I know), the people have no problem telling you how ugly it is own labradors and drive the car equivalents, everyone has a f**king labrador. For the record I love the Fiat Multipla.
