  1. Whats extreme?? 10,000km is not an uncommon life span on modern high end tyres, maybe look at a different tyre. What fitment are you running and how many sets have you gone through?
  2. Just chop the rear mufflers off. Should only cost a couple of hundred dollars and give it a slightly louder sound.
  3. Looks awesome! So this will be ready for Targa Rotarua?

    M3 CSL?!

Really? Really? You have to ask that?
  5. I use a Track-it system on my cars, its handy to have when you leave your car in the hands of service people also, you can get real time GPS maps on where they are driving and how fast they are going. Also handy when questioning speeding tickets. http://www.trackit.co.nz/
  6. I'm guessing if you looked in the E46 owners manual or even followed the service instructions on the OBC the actual service intervals would be 10-15km, I cant remember what it was on ours but it was not as high as 20km, hence why I questioned where the 25km figure came from Any self respecting service agent would recommend a minimum of 10,000km service intervals on a M car, most would know that the M cars burn so much oil that a close eye must be kept on them!
  7. Yep, so stink. Even with insurance he will not get back what it is worth nor will get back the hours spent working on the thing. Wast of what looked like a nice AE86 for what was probably some suspension and wheels.
  8. 25,000km is crazy for any car let alone a M car, is that honestly what is recommended i the service book? I would think it would have burnt all of its oil over that time frame in any case? I would be doing mine every 10,000km like I do all my cars. What I was getting at is that if M3 owners took their cars to BMW dealerships and had the car serviced as recommended I doubt that these issue would arise, I'm guessing that it mostly comes down to second owners who cant afford to have them looked after properly so skimp on proper preventive maintenance. Its the third owner who pays the price and in association gives the car model a bad name... nothing new.
  9. Is having the Vanos inspected and potentially overhauled at around 100,000km not a requirement on all BMW’s? I thought that was part of one of the major services if you have the vehicle properly maintained by a BMW Dealership/Workshop?
  10. True, I brought body parts from the UK in early October last year for my race car rebuild and they are still in the UK, its like dealing with backwards monkeys from 1968, most people cant even use email, it has happened multiple times with companies in the UK. Would try and deal with the US if you have too. Bad luck MondoM3, very frustrating when something like this happens, I have been in the same boat with a car, less than a 1000km and the engine went boom, in that case it was a dealer and even then I could not get anything out of them. If you were planning on keeping it a few years, personally I would recommend a rebuild, at least you know it will be strong. Second hand parts like second hand cars, you inherit second hand problems/neglect..

    BMW Supra anyone?

Just to play devils advocate and master troll.... The Lexus LFA costs around $800,000NZD and is slower than a $140,000NZD Corvette around the Nurburgring... to ad insult to injury it too Toyota 10 years to develop the car and a they spent a great deal of time tuning it at the Nurburgring. It does sound nice though and has an awesome instrument cluster. The GT86 was designed and built by Subaru. The Toyota Supra has always been a whale of a car that was good for little except 3rd gear burnouts. The MR2, well thats arguable but I do agree that its not a bad sports car all and all. The Celica was horrible in every way, the only half decent ones were the cars built buy TTE in Europe and they shared little with the road car in final tune.

    Very nice!

Yup. I am not a stance or fitment fanboi but IMHO this needs OEM 15" weaves and more height in the back. Very nice car though, great colour, nice bits and pieces.

    BMW Supra anyone?

A bit of an update on the BMW Supra. Overnight parts from Japan, this thing will decimate all. very suki motta. PS. Not sure if this is a M-sport version as it doesn't have seemto have 8 M badges, may have to run the vin.

    Tyres 235 35 19

Have you tried a tyre shop? I find tyre shops quite helpful when buying tyres! Any reason why you have chosen Japanese tyres, from what I have looked into in that size (my car runs the same) the Japanese are well off the mark, the Toyo's are crap, falcon don't do anything notable and Bridgestone have nothing decent in that size in NZ for a reasonable price. FYI The best bang for your buck in that size is the German made Goodyear Asymmetric II.
  15. Personally I would take the E46, would have to be a manual to make it remotely interesting to drive. Coming from a Type-R you may be disappointed though, they not very sporty at all, open diff, soft suspension etc, don't expect it to be the M3 people like to dream they are. I would be on the hunt for a nice E36 M3 Manual 3.2 Evolution, its an older generation but its twice the car the others are.
  16. Would rock a lecky E30, would need massive false M20 tappet noise pumped through the audio system though. From my observations 95% of the "drivers" in NZ could live with 85-90.
  17. So this car is not suitable for Motorsport then? Damn. I wanted to pay way too much for a gutless automatic open diffed low spec used import BMW for my Motorsports, specifically the national sport of D1NZ, I may have to look elsewhere.. FFS it doesn't even have 8 M badges. I'm feeling a bit hollow and depressed after learning this is not a Motorsport TBH, think I may knock off work and have a mental health day.
  18. I have reached the conclusion that the condition of ones car has little to do with how safe it is on the road, personally I would like to see driver WOF in the form of licence testing every few years with a proper refresher and practical test to pass, now that would be interesting.

    M3 CSL?!

Congratulations. Would love to help detail it after a few years of sitting I bet it could use a good clean and paint correction.

    M3 CSL?!

You know you would sooner spend the money on a Singer CamB It wasn't Paul Holmes, hes was in hospital. Was it former More FM DJ, 7-Days host and all round nice guy Jeremy Corbett? Maybe Jason Gun, he could call iy thingy. Am I getting warm?
  21. For sure, but it makes a great fanboi video and something good to show people on the inter-web. What it also demonstrates is how easy the Megane is to drive fast, it goes where you want it to and it wont rip your head off, its a very faltering car to drive and yet it is still somehow fun, a good driver can drive one at 100% after a short time behind the wheel where a Porsche GT2 would take a long time to get confidently fast in and drive at 70%.

    M3 CSL?!

You didn't. Did you? Well done. That GT3 was a bargain, oh to have the cash to throw down on that, what a car!
  23. On the E60 I would think 245/35/19...
  24. That commodore was chasing me the whole run, he had big power, big race brakes and some sort of suspension work, he was also a fellow Targa competitor... he would catch me hard under braking and on the straights but the Megane would leave him for dead in and out of the corners! In the end he passed me after I got silly and thought I would catch up to that Mitsubishi EVO X again and completely ham fisted that corner at way to much entry speed for my humble road tyres!! Woull like to get into track racing one day, looks like a bit of safe fun. Cant wait to get the rally car back on the road though, we have entered the targa one day tarmac rally sprint on the 2nd of March, its great value and a good taste of how awesome a a tarmac rally is, its on a great piece of road too. Would be good to see a few people there, I like the 2WD competition! http://www.targa.co.nz/2013-Targa-Rally-Sprint_1074.aspx
  25. AFAIK he drives you round for $100 an hour, you do not get to drive it... I cant think of anything more embarrassing than being driven around in a yellow Lamborghini by a man in his late 50's, you would look like his special friend. Spotted a White Touring in Papakura, has AC Schnauzer wheels and is not as low as the driver things it is with his slow and sideways speed bump approach angle.
