Like you will keep a car for 5 years They are fun, not practical but fun, pure selfish fun.
-
I'm sure most of you are on Drive and have seen this. I quite enjoyed the review.

Its a very nice car and very well priced. Front and rear bumpers were re sprayed and it received a coat of wax every wash when I owned it. The interior was quite mint when I had it, I had the drivers seat recovered and fitted rear head rests. Would love to buy this car back, the missus and I often mention how much we liked that car and regret selling it after spending a lot of money on it, alas I cant afford it now

Welcome. Remove Jap plate holder immediately.

You are ordered by the court to do the community service within a year of sentence, from what I understand he was well within his rights to take a year to do it. Just saying

Overnight from Japan?

That is quite expensive. Another option would be a Simota Carbon intake, these are very nice. http://www.broomfish.co.nz/product_info.php?products_id=1613 Or as you say make your own up with an off the shelf filter. TBH the best you can do is leave it OEM and spend the money on beer and have a sober driver drive you around, I find beer makes my car feel way faster and $500 would buy a lot of beer.

They never made a E92 M3 CSL so may be a rare find mate.

I am in between BMW's so have nothing to do on my BMW. Will find one that ticks my boxes at some stage.. but still just waiting. I have got bored with my current car though and have done a few things. Painted the wheels black and fitted some rim protectors after we (I say we because the wife insists she dint do it) curbed the wheels and realized they were machined and too expensive to keep re fixing. Also fitted some facelift black headlights. Went t to fit new speakers in the front but could not fit them in as space was restricted so just sound deaden the doors in the mean time. The other car is de registered after a women wrote it off by driving into the side of it so have been working away collecting parts to fix it... that's a slow rebuild but have a few parts comming from England, have a new rear quater etc.' Before the smash had just fitted plastic windows and a new steering wheel. But currently just chipping away, new rear beam etc.

Looks good. Throw on a nice set of wheels and bobs your fathers brother.

The V3's look the way to go for fast road occasional track work. Shameless plug. If you do go KW or want info and pricing contact Chris at Autoquip, I would be very surprised if you could buy a set of off the shelf KW's and have them shipped to NZ cheaper, he buys them from KW and does orders every couple of weeks so freight is included in the price. I am currently working with him on getting a set of KW's built for my car and he has been very helpful, its also nice to know that if they have any issues he will sort them out.

I vote keep it how it is. Even as a car enthusiast who keeps a relativity close eye on my cars I like to have them checked for safety, I am not a mechanic. Plus the Police already have enough work cut out for them sitting at the bottom of hills in safe passing zones with speed detectors etc and chasing fake euro plates, why burden them with job of having to police people for minor faults on cars? Seems silly when they already have such a hard job.

I am just cartoonishly cheap and persrscripe to the "if it ain't broke don't fix it" mentality and find it hard to see the point in racing suspension on a road car. Agree you can probably make things more "wow" if you just want to spend money on something. Personally, I wanted more "wow" I will just go out in the rain with the traction control switched off or take the 3.5k it would cost for some entry level coil overs and spend it on an week long entry to Targa Tour, would give a lot more 'wow" for the money and I would learn how to drive the beast and probably make you faster than most guys with 5k suspension. Agreed new bushes would be a great place to start.

Going fast requires fuel and the OEM map is compromised for a reason, driverarability and fuel economy. Generic map companies may say they will (can) increase power and economy but both claims are often a placebo. I know if I paid someone money to come around and load a generic map on my car I would want to tell myself my car was faster and more fuel efficient, have done it before... then ran the car on a dyno and it had next to no more power than OEM.

It really comes down to what you use the car for and what you want to achieve. There are a lot of race type shocks available but they may be way more than what you need, heck they are more than what a lot of proper race cars use, it’s a bit like buying the same shoes Usan Bolt wears to walk out and check the mailbox. Overkill. IMHO the E46 M3 is very good OEM and if I owned one I would just leave it as is but with the OEM 18†wheels, to be fair a OEM E46 M3 is still more talented than me and if I ever got to the stage where I felt I could drive better than the car I would perhaps look at an upgrade, but at that point it would not be an off the shelf solution, it would be a custom setup tuned locally. I would look at upgrading the brakes first, that is the E46 M3's weakest point. As you say OEM replacement’s may cost more than a good set of Bilsteins, have been in a few BMW’s with Bilstein and H&R and they seem to work very well together and to me seem like the best OEM+ upgrade and value for money with the added bonus of local susport if you ever needed them rebuilt or revalved. Can recommend Anthony at Alignment Specialists in Penrose for Bilsteins, I have no affiliations with him, just recommend him because he is honest, fair priced, has good product knowledge and does a good job. Might be worth a visit. http://www.alignmentspecialists.co.nz/

So do you like the ride and height that the H&R springs give? Are the shocks worn out, what is the actual problem with them? The answer for me is always going to be buy new replacement OEM or a nice set of Bilstein shocks.

Would not be hard to get one here before the official dealers, we are normally 8+ months behind the UK when it comes to new European cars being released, this means anyone could buy one in the UK and have it shipped to NZ. Its good to see some competition in the market though, Jaguar NZ have already dropped prices 20% this year, now all we have to do is hope someone does it with BMW's!!
-
The one that has been better looked after for the last 12 years will be the most reliable.

Welcome, hope you enjoy the car, the twin cam 525i's are a good drive. You will need to upload and host your pictures at the likes of Photopucket and then past the image url withing the IMG tags on here. You can use the search function for more information on this.

There is the premium of getting it here and ding other small things, it looks like a fair price for what is a very nice car. Good luck with the sale and congrats on the Vert, lovely looking car!
-
Wow I want that vert! Fantastic pairing there.
-
Good luck with the sale, I know you have spent the money on this car and its a good one! Dakar Yellow FTW also. I would still love to know if this was the BMW press car from launch, could not find my NZ Car Magazine with the Dakar Yellow M3 on the front and the CAR header done to match, was a dream car!
