Fair enough, some people like to fiddle with their toys. Have you thought about some cosmetic upgrades? There are some great options for the E46. Could also look at a basic K&N pod of a muffler if yo want a bit more noise for little money.

They best be careful what they market as available and when it is available, ask Vodaphone what the cost was the last time they did that! Haha

I think a pot of PC users will use a cloud storage/sharing system like this and for people who are a bit computer savvy this will work fine. Mac just does it all for you. I know Google have a great Cloud type storage/sharing system if you run Android and other Google products on your computer, its inevitable that Google will have it all integrated as Mac do very shortly only they will offer it all for a very low price or free. I like my Mac devices, and have them mostly for a less stressful experience in the seance that I look after all devices in out household, they work well and are reliable (touch wood) and the wife and I share a Macbook and I-Tunes and both have out I-Phones linked to the Mac and I-Tunes, makes life easy, one less thing to worry about. I think giving I was single I would have different devices.. and a BMW M3, a washboard stomach and a beach-house

But you would still have an Automatic Making something that sucks do something that sucks faster doesn't make it better, it just makes it faster at sucking.

That will open a big can of worms. Hotspot. yes. I-cloud is really only useful if you have a bunch of mac devices and if yo do you would likely want an I-Phone in any case. Photo-stream, again works with Mac Devices.. Airplay I am not familiar with. Basically all these features are dumbed down and well designed features of what is and has been available of other devices for a long time, only nice and simple for Mac users. TBH if you ask those questions a Mac device sounds good for you.

Basically BMW spend a lot of time and money getting the intake sorted on their cars, they are designed to be as efficient as possible, you will not improve anything by fitting a something aftermarket that costs a couple of hundred dollars. In terms of exhaust you are restricted to the amount the catalytic converter can flow so unless you fit extractors, ditch the catalytic converter and run a full system and then have it tuned you will not gain anything but noise. So basically you could spend 2.5k on an exhaust system, say $500 on an intake, and gain 10bhp and loose a small amount of low down power whilst generating a crap load of noise or you could spend say $1,000 on a remap and gain upto 20bhp, a better power delivery and possibly better fuel economy and not have the car making embarrassing noise that no one will enjoy except for you. As said a manual conversion is the best mod you can do if your car is automatic... or just buy a BMW M3 and leave it stock and enjoy as it is a proper fast car designed to be fast. There is a local BMW tuner who can help you with the tuning, have a look here: http://www.hivelocity.co.nz/

My wife has done a few with her work, they use it as "team building day". She still cant drive. They did let her sit in a BMW M3 and drove her around in it though. I'm not sure of your driving ability but bang for your buck you are better taking the money and spending it on a trackday where an instructor is present, you will probably have change for beers afterwards too.
-
Best mod you can do is a manual conversion if it is not already. Performance wise you will not gain anything worth while with exhaust and intake. Bang for your buck would be a ECU re tune. Because it is an older car, my money would be spent on making sure everything is like new, some new shock absorbers would make a good difference, Bilstien's are fantastic. As for "stage" level tuning, that is nothing more than marketing and packaging to make it easy for you to understand and easy for them to take your money and have them try and convince you to come back for the "next level"

We don't really give a f**k to be honest. I am just going with whatever E90 M3 says, he has a cool car and seems to know what he is talking about.

Manual gearbox.. maybe they were hands on people. Sold. That was a cool car, would love one!

Reckon. So I went barefoot and wore my feet out. Life is stressful. The system works fine on my POS, uses the same system on the brake fluid, that can bee annoying if you corner hard enough the fluid goes to one side and the sensor signals a brake warning

Wonder where they have come from, that's silly low millage. Main concern would be condition of perishable rubbers and plastics. And should also note that even with low millage they should have the cam-belt changed, tyres would be quite old also.. Worth a look into though IMHO, you would be buying a high KM Corolla even at 10k.

I recon. Was thinking just the other day I wished my car had a manual choke and removable crank handle to start it too, would be awesome and give me way less to worry about, life is too stressful as it is, and then I was like f**k it I'm just going to ride my bike, and then tough what if I get a flat tyre so just walked.

Should have just crashed at her place.

Tempted. Very tempted. Good luck, will be looking If only Targa let us use Dunlops, would hit the buy now

No no stupid. They don't have a engine oil dipstick because the cars computer tells them how much oil it has on the OBC. So it has an electronic dipstick, my last few cars have had this, when I start them up it comes up with a image like the service indicator bar on an older BMW and showed oil levels. Quite handy.

For the interesting conversation about cars. I love a good BMW.

Firstly. And importantly they are not genuine BMW wheels. I had the same on a set of imitation wheels and managed to get them looking O.K with a bit of DIY. Its very time consuming but if you have a weekend you could sand them back and re clear coat them yourself.

Yes and a lot of cars are made in Spain and other countries outside of Japan and France. Was just a simplified answer, Nissan, Renault, Samsung, Lada, Dacia, same group. I laughed at Lada and Dacia and then I found out how many cars they sell Only reason I got the Vettle link was through promotional video's he is doing with the brand, his car is basically a Skyline 370GT with a badge and some reworked Nissan Muranno for the USA. Not really fitting with F1.

I'm sure a few of us could, one trackday would have the tyres and brakes munted, drag strip on the way home would kill the clutch.. maybe less than a week There is a reason I like new cars with a warranty

Lol, incredible indeed. My old man brought a E39 528i SE brand new in 96 for $128,000 and sold it for $4,000 to a wrecker a few years ago. Would love to see a working 50 year old E39, would probably fetch that money as it would be one of a few still going. They dont build em like they used too.
-
Was not implying they are unreliable, I was saying that if driven as intended they are costly to maintain. It may be just me but I don't see the point in buying an M5 and driving it slow, you buy a 550i for doing that, just as I cant see any sense in buying an M5 and only driving it on weekends, you buy a Z4 for that, its designed to be an all rounder that has high performance when needed. Should state that this is from a personal stand point and comes from someone who takes a very practical look at machinery and drives his cars very hard, I will wear out a set of tyres in 10,000km where another bloke will get 40,000km out of them. I would kill an old E60 M5 in about a week where a E39 may take a me a bit longer.

I would struggle to find any more soul in a big old German boat than I would a Toyota Corolla, in fact a manual Toyota Corolla has plenty of character and is fun around town.. but each unto heir own i guess. Corolla's are massively over priced though, people asking crazy money for them even with colossal millage. I think Land Cruisers have to be the one that blows me away the most though, people paying 40k for 10 year old Land Cruisers with 200,000km on them, its ridiculous.

The RB-Renault runs all Renault Mechanical's, Renault owns Nissan and Infiniti is Nissan's Lexus brand in the USA, they don't sell Renault's in the USA so in that market they have the Infiniti sponsorship, this makes it easier for the Americans to understand and come about because they are trying to push F1 in the USA at the moment as it is not popular there at all. Its no different than the fact the Lotus team is actually entirely run by Renault and is the same cars that were Team Renault last year. Its basically Renault cashing in and making as much money as possible. Its not that unusual, BMW Sauber Team was powered by Ferrari and built by Sauber and had no BMW parts on it at all

Would be interesting to see the jump over say 5 years. I remember buying a few cars from Turners between 2007-2010 for very reasonable prices vs what you can buy today. The used car prices have jumped up so much that last year when looking we gave up and decided to buy a new car instead as we could not see the value in second hand cars when people were asking massive amounts for vehicles that are essentially past their used by date, $50,000 for a used BMW say with 120,000km on the clock that has the same features as a brand new Commodore for the same money. Not really relevant but I set myself a goal to buy a car for under $1,000 to use as a shopping trolley town car a few months back and was shocked at how hard it was to find something half decent, a few years ago it would have been easy
