  1. When you put a wanted topic on a car forum and a member PM's you a month later with details of a guy who might be selling and you go and see him and make an offer and get a cool car for good money. So much nicer than dealing with Trade-Me etc.

+ 1. What he said. I mad a manual Brevel for 10 years, it only died a few months back... so I got talked into an Automatic machine.. It has been back twice, I keep breaking it apparently. Depends on what you want to spend I suppose, my Brevel was around $500 and lasted well, I drink a lot of Coffee and it was always on all day. 2c
  5. Hi guys, selling my daily as I am heading off on my OE. Fantastic value and a cool car, great around town and fun out of town. Looking for $18,400. http://www.trademe.co.nz/Browse/Listing.aspx?id=905766580&ed=true Thanks Graham

  7. My thoughts too. Very nice car BTW. My dad had one new, was only a 528i, but had a similar kit and the same colour, its a really nice colour on the E39. Best of luck with the sale.
  8. Nope. I was just swearing at the old people and thankful we were in an awesome car. Anyone who doesn't see merit should do a BMW driver day or similar. It's a great way to learn how much cleverer the car is than you. In one of the tests you race up to about 120kph and swerve aggressively around some cones through standing water. This is a great way to learn how advanced the systems are. It's a simulation of say a cow running out in front of you on an open road in the wet. Recommended. Also. I am a rally driver used to very dangerous speeds in unpredictable roads. And I am still man enough to admit their worth and learned a thing or two about ABS and Stability control. 9. They boost really hight.. then catch fire! haha Mk4 has got to be the lamest GTI of them all IMHO, could have been much better with some red stripes and a 2.0T. You can't say that. RWD is best. It has to be RWD, even an Automatic open diff luxo barge is better because its RWD. FWD's can not be fun because most people are drifters and prefer to initiate every corner... when I drive a RWD its sideways everywhere, even at traffic lights I just sit there and swig O's. E46 M3

Its a Metallic Steel Grey, so two shades darker than say the grey you would find on E46 CSL, with a metallic eliminate, a really nice colour and easy to keep clean looking, way nicer than boring silver or hard work black IMHO. The leather colour is called Cinnamon, its more buffalo brown than orange.
  11. I have no doubt that if the driver of that car had it switched off he would have crashed. Fair call on the limits thing, I am guilty of getting complacent at times. It saved me a few weeks back from a certain write off and possibly massive injury. It was 6.30am on my way to a rally and I was driving a bit to fast around a corner over a shaded brow that was very slippery, the car drifted wide off the road, miraculously the car reacted a lot faster than I could have braking individual wheels whilst I steered it back onto the road, narrowly avoiding a concrete power pole and a huge drop off. I like to think I am a reasonable driver, yet I was very thankful for the technology that morning, it is simply amazing how fast it can react, there is no way the car would have got back on the road without it. Another time my ex wife was driving us when an elderly couple pulled out rite in front of us in a 100 zone open road, very similar to the above video, she simply swerved out and went around them, no drama, the elderly couple probably shat themselves... I nearly did. No way we could have done that without stability control. Stability control is much like ABS brakes, there was time when people pooh poohed ABS too stating that its only there for people who can't drive... To me, any passive safety technology is massively worthwhile.

  13. Fook. Thank god for active stability control.

  15. Ha, and many Hindu people still eat beef anyway.. Its the muslims we could perhaps learn a thing or two about when it comes to meat and how it is consumed and appreciated.
  16. As a pet. Yes. But they are not pets, they are meat, no different than a cow or a pig. I have seen dog farms in Asia first hand BTW. I just think its a bit hypocritical to pass judgment as a meat eater. I also think its very easy to sit back in New Zealand and comment without understanding, seeing or experiencing how other cultures work. Drive though most parts of South East Asia and see how many farms you see.. they don't have an abundance of meat walking around.
  17. I have dogs. I love my dogs. Im not going to eat them. But. An animal is an animal, and if a culture eats dog meat, and that is what they have always done, who am I to question it. Some cultures do not have cheap factory farmed meat available. Most will consume in a month what we do in one sitting. We live in a country where most of the meat we eat is factory farmed, we just turn a blind eye to it. We also consume an unbelievable amount of meat, way more that what we need too. I say watch this and decide if the meat you currently eat comes from animals that have been treated ethically or humanly before passing judgment on other cultures. And maybe ask if what we do is any better than other cultures. I am not a vegan/vegetarian either, I am conscious of what I eat though.

Don't get me wrong, I am normally the guy selling the car at 100,000km, and buyers car be a pain in the arse. I literally told one guy to f**k off out of my garage and go to the nearest "new car" dealership if he wants a brand new car after he started pointing out small blemishes on a car that was 4 years old and one third the cost of a new one. Its like hear you go, have my car I have lost $40,000 and cleaned every weekend for the past 4 years, I am sorry I didn't save it for you, perhaps I shouldn't have driven it and brought some seat covers for the times I just sat in and had a cry wank waiting to sell it to you for next to nothing... oh, and BTW, yes, I did do its 100,000km cam belt service for you, that cost me $2,400... can I throw in a box of beer and a reach around, maybe I could service your less than satisfied looking wife while we are at it. So im not being a pedantic buyer, its just frustrating dealing with a lot of these "second owners" who are trying to fob off sh*t they have not spent a dollar on other than some M badges and fake carbon fibre. Oh. Did I mention I am looking at a carrier in car sales?? Can I interest you in a mocha-chino sir?

Its great fun trying to buy a second hand car, have not had to do that for a long time.. life is hard. Starting to regret selling my business, there are some perks to being self employed, buying new brand new cars is a massive one as you can write off depreciation against income and claim GST on payments, service, fuel etc. Back to a scummy old car for me.. but no payments will be nice, an extra few hundred dollars every month to spend on fixing an old car.

Quote Guy is selling a 2005 BMW M5 with 111,000km on the clock. I wonder if it had new tyres back then too... would be great to know what other wear items were replaced 75,000km ago... Also. People who say "dealer service history" and you look and it was last updated in 2001... thats 14 years ago mother f**kers!!
