  1. Post a pic up of what bits you want - I have quite a few different ones kicking around..
  2. True, couldn't see that you were down in CHCH. There should be local shop that can make one up for you pretty cheap? Give them the old one to work off?
  3. If you can post up a pic, I have quite a lot of brake lines, no idea which goes where though...
  4. Keeping it realistic and ignoring the "supercars" that people have been listing, looking at other cars that are around which could be alternatives to my current BMW are scarce. Lexus just don't have the same feel or charisma, even the IS-F (whilst it is fast) doesn't thrill in the same way for me. Mercs are more cruisers than drivers - and the current styling is a bit off key for me. Forget anything built in Aussie - far too backward technologically. The only two real options would have to be either a sportier Audi (not driven one for a while, but certainly the looks have come on in recent years) or a hot version of a Euro Ford - Focus RS or Mondeo. Either option would have to be very convinving in long term test drive for me to want to make the switch though.
  5. Took all the crap out of the boot of the race car (used for storage of spare parts during house move) and wiped all bird sh*t of the door & mirror of the touring. It appears there is a local bird that sh!ts itself every time it sees it's own reflection...
  6. Personally I have never been a fan of Mercs, but that 500SEC is the one shape and style of Merc that I quite like. Never seen one with a "widebody" kit on it, even that one of the Prince of Monaco doesn't have the wide kit from what I can see in the photos. Price does seem a little steep, yes it is rare, but how much of a market is there for these? E30 M3s are more expensive for a reason - there are more of them, but they are very, very sought after. As for that 190E 2.5-16, I know all the history, I know it's a DTM homologation special but I just hate them - they look so plasticky with all the add on bits, boy racer Honda + a kit type material. Plus the base 190E was such an awful, boring old man's car.
  7. The paint is durable and does protect the car, but like most things if you don't look after it properly it will get wrecked. It won't ruin the metalwork of the car underneath, but it will ruin the look of the paint. There's more than two frozen black M3s in the country, an Individual Frozen Gey M5 on the way, plus a Frozen Bronze Gran Coupe - same colour as the press shots, should look great in the flesh. Plenty more to follow as well I'm guessing.
  8. Try the new X5 M50d - only .1 sec slower to 100kph, feels much punchier for overtaking thanks to the enormous torque of the diesel. And it's very economical too... if you can refrain from booting it all the time !
  9. On way home from work tonight in Botany, Orient (?) Blue E46 Sedan, with loads of stance on big dished white rims and hugely stretched tyres. Also had the German style lettering on the number plate. A member's car? Looked good!
  10. Good find Josh, even with the German commentary it's still a great watch! Some of the traffic during the race is incredible, especially in the night sequences.. balls of steel those guys. The film is uploaded in 10 minute sections as well, so you can dip in and out of it and watch in installments without having to download the whole thing each time, which is good. Still going to look for this on DVD, let me know if anyone finds it anywhere.
  11. Do you need these for proper race meetings or just for Track Days, etc? I have a set of expired harnesses in very good condition I would let go.
  12. WTF??? I mean seriously, WTF?? I saw about four words and had to close the window! Is that for real? And is that really Shady's TradeMe account??
  13. Looks like your attempts at wiring the dash though brother!!
  14. Thanks for the link Josh, look forward to watching this when I have time. Is this the full feature length version - looks from the link that it is 20mins long, pretty sure there is an hour+ version of this, which I have been trying to find for a while on DVD?
  15. Nice car! I've seen you around Palmy a few times, looks even better in the flesh. If I'm not mistaken it used to belong to another of the Palmy members on here.
  16. This.Reminds me - I really must fix the horn in the race car as it does this, usually a sign I am working the wheel too hard as I am getting out of shape - a useful warning to the rest of the drivers that I'm about to spin ?
  17. You certain you want a facelift? I have a nice pre-fl with very low Km
  18. Yup, such a good friend that he can't even spell the name right half the time! Very interesting car for the right collector, pictures of the car with Buddy in it would make it a lot more saleable.
  19. Not the best article, but I can see the guy's point. The days of turning up at the track in competitive motorsport in anything remotely resembling road car, are long gone. The E30 M3s or GTHO Falcons of old are so far removed from an ALMS M3 or DTM M3 as to be a totally different animal. Try getting a WoF on one of those without any air bags, etc. Yes, the M Division and M brand has become a marketing tool, but why not, it's all about selling cars at the end of the day whether by winning races on the TV or marketing a car that reflects that glory. If he's mad at the moment wait until he tries to get his head around M Performance Vehicles, which are not M cars, nor are they production cars with M-Sport packs , but a whole new sub-brand. Or perhaps he can look at the modern equivalent of the original M division, the Motorsport Division, and look at some of the cars he can buy from them. Then try telling me BMW has lost it's M soul..
  20. Plus the touch up from the dealer would be as the colour was sprayed at the factory and doesn't take into account any fading or changing of the colour, or any respray which may have been slightly off. Better to get an actual match to the colour of your car as it is now from a decent paint supplier. Should cost far less than $50 as well.
  21. Two things: 1) revenue 2) increased production volumes
