I have gone through and removed and un-pinned a lot of the old stuff at the top of the various sub-forums. Some stuff is pretty old, but still quite relevant / helpful so I have left it at the top. If there is anythig i have missed, let me know - either post it in here or drop me a pm and i'll have a look.

Keep the packaging and chuck the badges in the bin. Last about 5 mins in NZ conditions. As with most things in life, you get what you pay for.

"End of life" NZ new E92 335i manual (Turners)
E30 325i Rag-Top replied to Golfboy666GTI's topic in TradeMe discussions
Trade in would just go through the normal auction wouldn't it, not the "damaged" section. I don't believe it has to go through "end of life" to avoid the CGA requirements.. They could be making doubly sure as it sounds like a bit of a ticking time-bomb (pun intended). -
"End of life" NZ new E92 335i manual (Turners)

Possibly a repo, or stolen and recovered? Auction has ended now so I can't see what was in the description. Anyone see what it sold for? -
pretty much bolt it up, plumb up some intercooler piping and you'll be boosting your little e30 blowing your M20 to bits!! Nice TT set-up, but without all the other parts built to go with it, like the engine, inlet, ECU, etc... then it would be a short lived period of boost I would think.

yup, good point. I was looking at the T-Shirt and calendars threads the other day. And even started updating the old model codes sticky!! I will start looking at how to "un-stick" some of these posts as a tidy up.

The features, design and quality of the mass market has definitely improved by leaps and bounds over the last generation of cars. The Korean brands in particular have come a long way in a very short time. However, I would argue it’s not just the features included, but also how well they operate and ease of use. Plus there are also the harder to quantify factors such as build quality, tactile feel, driveability, handling, etc. The new 3 Series is a huge jump ahead of anything in the sector, but then I am biased.

I’m not sure if that would be the same batch of cars as the first “officially” sold BMWs in NZ, but there is a good chance it is. From what I have been told there were three cars in that first shipment, one being a demonstrator for Jensen motors and the silver one at BMW Head Office being the first car sold to a customer.

You are taking the word platform in the wrong context. This article is not referring to vehicle design and a common design across both brands. As I said it is referring to “car sharing platforms”, ie the software and booking systems required for car sharing schemes. It is the IT platform, not the floor plan of a car. Don’t get too carried away...

My 6-er is getting a big brother/sister

Wow, a 50i in Pure Excellence. It must be an import as there were none built to that spec NZ new. A unique beast you have there. -
E30 mechanicals are pretty easy and cheap to fix or replace. Rust is the real killer for E30s much more expensive to fix, unless you are a panel beater. All the spots you mention need looking at, plus the rear of the car around the lights and under the number plate lamps. Front firewall is also prone to rust problems, the heater drain drips straight into a heat shield amongst other things.

RIP man, crazy, crazy stuff going on in the world. This has brought it all home. -
Car sharing platforms... nothing overly exciting. BMW have some very large sharing fleets in some European countries, and Benz have fleets in others. Looking to work on making the two schemes collaborating together, and for future schemes.

Damn sight easier to get in and out as well!!

Does FBO = full bolts on? What does that mean, never heard of that before.

Independents, New Car Warranty, Self Provided Parts
E30 325i Rag-Top replied to BlackrazorNZ's topic in Maintenance
Sounds like you are one of the reasonable ones that appreciate what they are doing for you. Unfortunately there are more punters at the other end of the scale who want to scrimp and save and then put all responsibility on someone else when it breaks. As Glenn said... -
Independents, New Car Warranty, Self Provided Parts
E30 325i Rag-Top replied to BlackrazorNZ's topic in Maintenance
First answer - pretty sure the BMW warranty will be very precise on this part. Read it and follow it otherwise vewry unlikely to be covered. Second answer - interesting BM Workshop flatly refused a colleague of mine, with Genuine BMW parts, as quote "it wasn't worth it without the parts profit". Only people I have had fit parts I've supplied have pretty much been "mates" with a workshop and tools I don't have, so not really applicable. However, I would imagine the answer to Question one, pretty much makes this part redundant. -

E30 M3 Prices of cars that have sold.
E30 325i Rag-Top replied to beemwr's topic in General Discussion
I was wondering why it was only getting 230bhp with all the modifications, when later 2.3s were getting 215bhp, missed the bit that says "at the wheels" LOL. Again, it is very hard to put a price on this car as it has so many good performance bits on it (all in keeping with the M3 and OEM+ style) but is not the "100% original" that so many collectors are looking for. Do hope it goes for close to that money, as I know how much time and effort the owner has put into this car over the years and that they really don't want to sell it. -
Has anyone tried to change incorrect vehicle rego info?
E30 325i Rag-Top replied to gjm's topic in Off-Topic
Yes, have done similar a number of times. MR16 form and lots of supporting documentation. It helps if you can point out (without blame) how and where the error occurred. if successful a note is entered on the MVR linking the new VIN to the previous one I believe.- 1 reply

Moved into the want to buy section for you, more likely to get an answer in here. Try Peter Ball at P&S Automotive in East Tamaki, they normally have a couple of spare 2.5s sitting on the floor.

E30 M3 Prices of cars that have sold.
E30 325i Rag-Top replied to beemwr's topic in General Discussion
Yup, and more than twice the price of that 1M which was there. If only I didn’t want an E30 M3 so bad, to drive NOT as an investment, there is much better bang for buck. -
Questions re genuine E30 M3 DTM airbox
E30 325i Rag-Top replied to M3_Power's topic in General Discussion
Nice car, and lovely photos of the airbox. Fingers crossed I will have the funds available this year to get an airbox for that snuffling intake noise!! Gavin would be my choice for the tuning.
