X4 F26 Coupe trim swap from aluminium to wood????
E30 325i Rag-Top replied to ZBMW's topic in Interior
I see you are in Wellington, try Winger BMW, I'm pretty sure they would try to help you out -
If you want some good around town point and squirt fun you have to go a long way to beat a John Cooper Works version of the 3 Door hatch. Just like the Italian Job, although try not to drive up the pavements, the police take a pretty dim view of that kind of thing.

Owner of car wanted to keep the rims / tyres it had on it, but had no rubber on the spare set of rims. Or possibly it wasn't the actual owner, but that would have been some pretty thoughtful thieves to put any rims back on it rather than leave it on the ground.

Just to point out that the picture posted is not an official BMW release - it's from another web-forum that are "speculating" what the rumoured new FWD 1 Series will look like when it comes to market, probably based of off the spy shots of test mules that have been spotted out and about. How close it comes to the actual production version, and how big the actual grilles are, we will have to wait and see...

FWD is inherently more economical and therefore produces less emissions, than RWD (with a front mount engine) and the levels are so tight now the inevitable had to happen. Sharing the MINI / X1 platform also help with the economics side of things as well. The good news is the M Performance versions will be xDrive to put the power down.

I only cook on the BBQ in the summer, when the sun is shining and the beers are cold. Kitchen is the wife's kingdom, the garage is mine.

I've got four here, but long way from Nelson. Is the whole of your screen not working, or just parts of it? Normally one or two of the wire filaments get damaged and stop working, which shows as a line of "fog" across the screen when it starts working. If the whole screen has stopped working I would suggest checking the wiring, switch, fuse, etc first.

Whilst still currently selling electric and hybrid vehicles. Battery electric is most likely a short-term stop gap until the fuel cell tech is developed enough to be marketable in mass produced volumes.

There were VINs for other pre-production E46 M3s, including CSLs in the system, just not this LSB one. Which is why this one would be a little more, not sure what the right word is, "of interest" maybe?

So everyone get it quick before they realise... what do I need to buy in at the moment...??? Thanks for posting this up and letting the community know Sam. I moved it into "General Discussions" so it gets a bit more exposure. -
Interesting car, yes, it is a pre-production test car but it doesn't look to have been brought in through BMW NZ from what I can see. Doesn't exist in the NZ records, and brought in from Japan, would have been direct from Germany or possibly SA if it was. So it has had a long and eventful life. Colour doesn't do much for me, although it does stand out from the usual monochrome colour pallette of E46 M3s so understand why others would be keen on it. For the right price it could be a cool little project for someone to bring back to it's former glory.

Its an option, not standard, so no it doesnt mean you have to pay anything. And also only affects the affordability of the car if you want to add it.

@Michael P which generation of X5 do you have, the fact that you have the widgets would suggest it is the current F15 generation with the ConnectDrive but just wanted to be sure. Which engine variety is it, gearbox can be determined from that. The update you mention would be an update of the latest software version in the car, yes? Which mode are you driving in when the engine revs on slowing, is it EcoPro, Sport, Comfort, etc?
-
Yeah that would be the reason, nothing to do with the huge increase in cost of the vehicle and the charger. Even buyers of new EVs put a price on convenience.

Again, post needs prices as per forum rules.

Oh wow, unicorn wheels! I wonder if the wife will notice if I swap my reps over for these... then she wouldn't know how much they cost. -
More aimed at the premium end of that market, the Mercedes GLS, full fat Range Rover and the forthcoming Audi Q8 and anything else in the "big is good" sector. Very popular in Russia apparently... All of the pre-release images I have seen upto this one looked pretty good, hope this is some poverty pack edition in the photo as the front is not good, the wheels are too small (emphasizing the slab side) and the colour is awful. Massive grilles is the new "design language" taking the traditional kidneys to the next iteration. To make the front profile more striking, which is certainly one word for it..

I totally agree with you on this photo! Hope to god it looks a lot better with the M-Sport kit fitted.

Possibly true of the bigger firms, but in my experience those are the ones to avoid for the reason you state - get the monkey to do it and charge big $$$. The one we used quite a bit was a very small one man with a couple of support staff, knew his stuff and was on the ball. So many things manage to get "lost" in these big legal companies...

It's not the water, it's the "Where there's blame there's a claim" mentality which means the first thing people go for is "compensation" and this puts everyone into the back-foot cover your arse mentality.

Well, the good news is that your car was definately fitted with the TV function at the factory, and also that it was fitted with the Digital TV module and not the analogue one. However, from the parts system the TV module for Japan / China / Brazil is different to that fitted for other regions / markets. Now whether this is down to different hardware required for different digital TV formats, or just a software difference I can't tell. I can see that replacing the TV module with an NZ part would be an expensive option. My suggestion would be to talk to one of the specialist NZ converters, like Euro Surgeon that have a lot of experience with swapping these things over and they will advise your best course of action. It could be a sodtware change, or possibly new hardware, but at least you have got some of the system from factory which gives you a head start.

It's called covering your arse.. a very popular habit with legal beagles in the Uk. Should something arise with the wall down the line, if it has not been picked up during the sale then there is a slim chance of their being some comeback to the solicitor that did the work on the sale. Unfortunately 80% of the solicitors working with house sales in the UK are complete muppets, it takes a long time to find a good one, and when you do keep their details!

Hence the reason for the question. Anyone heard the joke about the lost woman and the guy in the balloon..? Keeps coming to mind for some strange reason.
