are you refering to a 318i or 320i etc . 318i m10 engine has a completely different bellhousing shape to the m40 engine. so not compatiable . but the m20 all use the same bellhousing. but earlier m20 gearboxes have a different gearshifter mech , but can be fitted 320i and 325i use different size gearboxes but bolt up ok just different driveshaft lengths

-
is your e34 v8 530i a 5spd manual??i have one too but with a 4.4L v8 with 5spd manual behind it yes same here ,not to keen on a e30 conversion. would rather a e36 318Ti if i wanted a lighter car to fit the engine into

if you put the "dead lock" on when you locked it , you will need to get some charge back into the battery , one way you can do it is conect a 12volt battery to the boot lid light just be carfull to get the neg and positive around the right way (remove the light unit pull the bulb out conect the neg to the brown wire and the positive to the other ), then you shoudl be able to use your key to unlock from the door.

picked this up a a while ago , just trying to decide what to do with it . 1994 NZ new M3 3L hellrot 160k on the clock, dereged, sleight damage to engine subframe and some some panel damage etc past owner drove over some wood on the motorway. just trying to decide what to do with it . reregister it ? part it out? or use the engine and bits to chuck into another body . maybe a e36 318ti or my wifes 328i touring etc etc . what do you guys think??
-
could also be the A/c pump one . dont drive it , it might over heat the engine and cook it .
-
thanks guys , had a great day . got this birthday cake , what do you think
-
e39 wheels have a different hub bore size (bigger) so will need hubcentric rings . do you have a pic or model number of the wheels you have
-
yes double check your wheels , what type are they?? but normally its the thrust arm (brake arm) bushes or ball joints that fail and cause that problem. and sometimes the brake discs are warpped etc

i have sold bits to the guy how owns it over the years. pretty sure it was a dog leg box but could be wrong. uk import , no ac , guy lives in tauranga and comutes to glenbrook steel mill for work (stays up here than drives back when off work)etc i think he's a bit off on the price but if the engine has had a bit of work then could be ok

buy this . http://www.trademe.co.nz/Browse/Listing.aspx?id=337188427 a few small mods and they are ready for the track . and i think this one has the dog leg close ratio box . std 218HP 160kw 310Nm . 0-100 about 7sec but that can be improved capable of doing 9L per 100km in petrol etc factory lsd , bilsteins etc etc

NICE . e39 540i 528i 523i etc use a pretty much all ali rear subframe if you want to go to the trouble of swapping it all out again. but maybe a little weight in the rear will help it out
-
nice car . wouldn't mind one of these was that the one owned by gerry hodges(bmw nz club president) a few years back??
-
i dont think you will find a 323i 325i 328i use much more fuel than 320i (they have to rev higher and dont create much power or torque unless you rev them heaps)325i 328i would be much higher geared and have better torque to pull the car along. if you are going drag all the weight around of a 6cyl engine and gearbox you might as well have more of it moving up and down and creating power rather than just being static weight etc. if you want ecnomey get a later 318is with the 4cyl 1.9L engine in motorsport spec etc

have pm'd
-
they have some hidden screws up underneth the front bumper edge above the fog lights and at the back edge of the bumper , and front edge of the rear bumper , front and back edge of teh side skirts etc. then mostly they use urathane to just glue it on . good score there, i saw that one the other day . easy enough to swap the trans out , most likly a jatco . sometimes they are just low on trans oil and new a filter etc . but most likly worn clutch packs

my old original e28 m535i engine with tall 3.07 diff 9L per 100km open road and 12L per 100km around town etc my 328i coupe 5spd 3.15 diff about that same my 328i touring about the same if not a little bit better due being a nz new with ZF auto and 3.07 diff e28 with 3.65L M5 engine 3.73diff 12-14.5 per 100km or more e34 530i with 4.4L v8 with 5spd manual 3.15 diff 13.5L open road and about 16L town , its really sucking it up , but hopefully will be better after a remap as i am running the M62B44 engine on a 4L M60 ecu set up so not ideal ( a bit lean at cruise speed so you have to put the foot in more to keep at a constant speed)
