  5. e28 with tied m5 engine 14.73 e34 535i with old tied hartge engine 15.37 some details from last jag bmw day http://www.bimmersport.co.nz/forums/index....showtopic=23382
  6. ha ha . i was wearing a shirt though. na got rid of the CRT tv unit . manage to find a matching blue leather covered glove box to go back in its place . from my current work place of corse:)
  7. just a quick update . had to order another tensioner bit from the states #%^$*#& more money:( as i couldn't get the orgianal long tensioner as they dont make them any more (unless i order a special a one off made one from bmw germany for about $1200) so have to convert the head to take the 2 piece tensioner system. as they have already supplied the lower section . have to drill and tap a pivot pin into the front of the head casting as the earlier head i am using doesn't have the hole there etc . as you can see in the pictures showing the 2 different head castings. so they will be assembling together the head and block soon ,so not too far away.
  8. this has been there for a while i have meet this guy before . he will be selling that head on behalf of another guy , but i dont think they would know what it is?? if it is genuine alpina head then it will have a alpina stamp mark on it . like my old hartge head had .

  14. sometimes you can reclamp the tags with some pliers or use a screwdriver and hammer . they dont seam to use much clamping pressure when they make these radiators , i got a new one for amy e28 m5 engine and had to go back 3 times for replacements under warranty , the next time it started to leak i just reclamped it and no problems since then
  15. drives like my wife , when taking the kids to school
  16. thye just wear a bit quicker than some other bmw engines . but not that big of a job to replace but the parts are expensive as there are only genuine bmw ones , you can order from a few different places though but all come from bmw germany. m88 or s38 all wear about the same , 2 types of tensioner rails are used though and the s38 engines use duplex chain type
  17. just a quick update . pistons , crank and rods are fitted in now . stripping the head down to take the new cams , had to do a little grinding in the cambox to allow for the extra lift in the cam lobes etc . fit stronger valve springs etc . have to reorder one of the chain guide tensioner arms as they sent the wrong one . also needed a new lower cam chain sproket , bottom ned gasget set etc etc .
  18. i second that . the only way to go is a live remap on a dyno so you can see the results as apposed to a guess . and i think it will cost you about the same . call gavin . worth while mods for the e34 540i is a diff ratio change and maybe lsd . open up the rear of the exhaust system ( but becarfull as some of the rear boxes sound yukky) maybe a more open air box set up . but really a remap will give you the best bang for buck and a diff change and 6spd conversion:)
  19. normally we reove in 2 parts carefully pry clips apart from inside the bonnet and remove in 2 halves . be very carefull as the plastic is very brittle. have replacements if needed
  20. have a few sets of wheels to suit e39 model , 15" 16" , 17" and 18" etc
