325i is a more fun engine . more reliable ,m52 the ali block dont like getting hot at all . the vanos can cause issues if not had reg oil changes etc . not sure why people say m50 not as good . from my experience the m50 non vanos is the best of all the m50 type engines , simply 4 valve head with out all the crap that fails around it . have owned my 92 325i coupe now for about 3 or more years , havn't had to touch it , expcept for spark plugs and oil changes ,and i drive it properly too. get a 5spd manual if you can , then you wont have failing auto's etc . if you go a a m52 get the 328i has plenty of guts , the 323i is a bit gutless realy compaired to a 325i , why would you want a detunned engine???

ethe tuner module is the third row back in the back left corner of the boot. its goes cd changer then amplifier then the tuner module . looks like a std car stereo but with no face plate or buttons . but i thought that these units could be switched over to NZ freq ?? -
what ever you buy , get one with the best lens , thats far more important than the number pixels. you can have all the pixels you want but if the image coming though the lens is $E&^%& then thats all it will capture ,a bigger size lens make a diffence.

How to tell the difference between different BMW engines
BM WORLD replied to viraaj1's topic in Performance
m52 have plastic valve covers (the one under the other plastic top cover). M52 are ali blocks . SS exhaust manifolds m50 cast iron , cast iron exhaust manifolds . different afm and inlet manifolds etc. also they will have model numbers cast into the block as well -
i have seen a few like these(when stripping cars down ) , but i have also seen some quite goods one (makes it harder for me to remove them ) or bypass them when i dont have the alarm remote. also so heaps of crappy stereo installs . but came across one a month or so back where they had gone the extra mile to tidy everthing up , even the hidding stuff ( i think it was a rapid radio job judging by the brands of gear)

easy unbolt rubber mounts top and bottom . lift engine with a jack . rock from side to side to fit newmounts in the drop back down and bolt them up

17" are a good choice for e34 540i . and common tyres sizes like 235/45-17" . yes ditch the metrics (failed experiment)

depends on what else you do .but can go upwards to about 200hp std 325i is about 173hp . std 525e is about 125hp but lots of torque (detunned engine with small port head and long narrow inlet manifold), but fitting a better breathing 2l head and manifold to it should make a get up and go a bit.

i have a nice 2.7L block , bolt your 2L head on it and away you go , heaps more powerand torque and only $450 021433600. anything else wont give you much in the way of noticable results talk to the guys that have rebuilt 2L engines for the race series they get resonable results , but costs $$$$$$$$$$1000's
