yes still there , are you based in ch ch working for monaco ??no my dvd/hdd doesn't upscale , but all the later ones that do , only have S-video at best as a input . so i think i will keep the RGB as it looks better straight out to component . yes freeview is 720p on tv1 and tv2 and 1080i on tv3 and others will go hd over time . also there is a demo chanel at 720p . we will at work soon have upsacling hd boxes soon up to 1080p and some with hdd built in or a usb port for a portable hdd . cheers

yes thats right , 2 things they are drive by wire on the later 4.4L engines so only feeds the power in so not to waste fuel and also traction control might be kicking in to stop wheel spin.try it in sport or manual tiptronic mode with dsc turned off . I think you will find it different . also when in std Ecno mode they start off in 2nd gear . only starts in fisrt when in sport mode or select it manually.

yes , car seems to be all good , i have only driven it for a few days etc .cant wait till its a 5spd . also have a lsd to go in it . tow bar etc . found a matching glovebox to replace the tv it had in it . cheers soon to be a manual .just ripped a kit out of a donar car today

i am in the industry . sky will only output HD 720p or 1080i etc on some chanels and only through HDMI so they can copy protect it . you can get 720p and 1080i by component but it cant be copy protected . same with the HD free view box HD only by hdmi (sucks ) if your dad upgrades his cable to a scart to component it will improve the picture quality by about 40% with out having to change to HD sky . i run my std sky box with a scart to scart cable into my dvd/hdd recoder set to RGB which looks pretty good . also check the widescreen settings in the tv and the decorder etc . I am amazed every time i talk to people or go there house with all these flash flat panels sky dvd's etc and they still have them conected with the $2 cable they got when they brought it , and still have there sky and dvd player on 4:3 mode when they have a 16:9 tv .

pick up this 1990 E34 535iA with alpina wheels , front and rear alpina spoliers and steering wheel ,badges etc . brought at auction , only came with one key and alarm remote , rang the guys at turners to ask them to send out some servicing info that was surpose to be with the car , the the guy says its pretty unimportant stuff . so any way he sends it out , i am reading through all the history etc and notice a receit for a alarm fitted recently , so i think to my self the owner must still have a secong remote and key , so i left a message on there answerphone (ph number on one of the receits)they called me back to say they had left both keys etc with turners and also some wheel lock keys which got soent back to them , so they sent back those to turners and after a bit of ringing around got turners to find the other key and remote etc . so they sent them on to me , i when i got the keys i had to go and check the wheel size thats behind the centre cap . turns out the fronts are 17" by 8.5" with 235/45tyres and the rear are 17" by 10" with 255 tyres . I thought they looked wider at the back .

i have a set of these . near new 17" bbs . will need small hub rings as they are e39 hub size.

80-90% galvanised bodies . so unless its had badly repiared body damage should rust to much . just make you clean out all the little nooks and crannies . also remove the rocker cover and check and retighten the banjo bolts on the cam oiler pipe . they come loss. as i just have done my alpina kitted car , bolt had come right out , thought the engine was a little noisy at the top end .

I second that .just go for the set up marty has . large case and lsd . no other option in my opinion

i was pleased to find out the other day . i know a guy who has a 99 e39 540i 4.4L v8 70,000km , he ran it on hi-velocity's roller dyno , cam up with 158kw at the wheels . which is the same reading on got with my 86 M535i with the m5 6cyl M88 motor in it . car has done 500,000km engine about 250,000km , i thought it might have been down on hp . but looks to be about right . both engine are factory rated at 286hp at the flywheel . mines manual the e39 was an auto . most likely the v8 had a lot more torque than my m5 engine . gavin reckons the later e36 m3 3.2l get about 180kw at the wheels . his own e30 318i with a pretty wild M30 gets 180kw a the wheel . 12.5cr pistons 304 cam and lots of head work with blue printed engine block etc . pics of before and after tunning with my car after a bit of fiddling with air fuel ratios etc . and i have since added a clod air box and have noticed a increase of troque especially in the cold mornings second lot of pictures is the air fuel ratio's . next up is to get the ecu retunned with ahigher rev limit and maybe swap the afm with newer one or swap it out for a map or hot wire sensor system .etc

i had a problem with my 99 e39 540it light kept coming on , dicovered i could make it come on by tapping the abs pump with a tool. used a guy in takanini , took the control box off the abs pump easu 10min job dropped it in 2 days latter (can still drive the car with out it ) $140 . bad joints etc (common problem) call shane 0274722287 he repairs alsorts of abs control boxes , heater controls , cluster car stereos etc etc .
