i was pleased to find out the other day . i know a guy who has a 99 e39 540i 4.4L v8 70,000km , he ran it on hi-velocity's roller dyno , cam up with 158kw at the wheels . which is the same reading on got with my 86 M535i with the m5 6cyl M88 motor in it . car has done 500,000km engine about 250,000km , i thought it might have been down on hp . but looks to be about right . both engine are factory rated at 286hp at the flywheel . mines manual the e39 was an auto . most likely the v8 had a lot more torque than my m5 engine . gavin reckons the later e36 m3 3.2l get about 180kw at the wheels . his own e30 318i with a pretty wild M30 gets 180kw a the wheel . 12.5cr pistons 304 cam and lots of head work with blue printed engine block etc . pics of before and after tunning with my car after a bit of fiddling with air fuel ratios etc . and i have since added a clod air box and have noticed a increase of troque especially in the cold mornings second lot of pictures is the air fuel ratio's . next up is to get the ecu retunned with ahigher rev limit and maybe swap the afm with newer one or swap it out for a map or hot wire sensor system .etc

i had a problem with my 99 e39 540it light kept coming on , dicovered i could make it come on by tapping the abs pump with a tool. used a guy in takanini , took the control box off the abs pump easu 10min job dropped it in 2 days latter (can still drive the car with out it ) $140 . bad joints etc (common problem) call shane 0274722287 he repairs alsorts of abs control boxes , heater controls , cluster car stereos etc etc .

drive shaft and gearshifter mechs will be different length . have to modify cross member angles

known problem that the torque goes in and out of lock up mode under light throttle . might be gettin a 99 540i for spares soon. thanks

any takers . good V8 and trans to fit into a e34 530i shell i have with reg on hold . around $4500 for e34 530i v8 car and i supply the 4L v8 and trans , plug and play etc.

any body want a good 2.5M50 engine from a nz new car . $1200

yea i always leave money under the seat .dont laugh though you would be amazed at what i find when i strip cars down . grass:wacko: , lsd , odd coins (jap,china, singapore, and others)

just rock up there before 12pm, to register and look at it . remember buyers fee on top and tow truck fees . or do a phone bid . costs a few hundread to get cars moved between towns . example $300 from welly to ak if it starts more if it needs forklift .

yes thats right , e34 box is longer , so shifter wont line up and none fit from other models . driveshafts going to be different to the e36 manual ones . pedals . no . master no. clutch lines no . slave yes . flywheel yes . if you get a e36 320i 318i 325i 328i kit you also need to change the diff to match the gearing . gotto go to about 3.07-3.25 ratio for 325i medium case or about 3.46 for 320i small case . you can use a m40/m42/m43/m44 318i kit for 325i but just dont load it up too much

hi grant . they do a e28 header thats different to the e34 type , but the e23 has different engine mounts to the e28/e24 type . so probably have to custom make some . unless you use a e34 or e28 type and modify your engine brackets to suit . but you would need to check the clerance around the steering box too(should be the same as a e28 )
