what year you need and which engine type etc as there are few types colour of back plate , plugs etc
-
these types of maf do fail
-
cool project , how you doing the front sump /oil pick up etc is it not right where the rack is ?/ also I have a 330d rear end if you want a large case diff /axles and brake setup
-
no diff wont fit , you need a medium case e30 diff to fit a e30 , check out the photos of them to compare you can use a med z3 diff , or a e28, e24 med case but will need the rear cover from e30 med diff you can swap ratios around in some diffs of the same size etc diff ratio ? that will depend what gearbox you are going to use etc maybe 3.64 3.73 if using a overdrive gearbox or low numbers like 3.15 etc if using a 1;1 top gear type box .

Don't forget the oring that's the main part that fails
-
yes all the bmw engines leak from there after a while , lots of mechanics and home job guys replace the sump gasket and front crank seals thinking that's where the main issue is, theres a profile gasket and o-ring that will be as hard as a nail . http://bmwfans.info/parts-catalog/E36-Coupe/Europe/318is-M42/R/1995/browse/engine/lubrication_system_oil_filter_2/
-
no same bearing and hub flange etc
-
there are medium case diff flanges 323i 325i 328i , and small case 318i 316i 318ti 320i 318is etc medium case type axles are larger diameter and have bigger flanges and splines etc , also factory manual medium size axles are fatter in the middle of the shafts . if you cant get the axle out of the rear arm , just change the whole arm/axle unit some times you need the correct tools , like a press or hub puller /axle pusher etc to get them to come out also heat and soaking in lube etc can help have all options in stock and can freight
-
also diif and axle sizes . on couple of my cars we swap medium case diff to large case and on another did a large case to medium diff swap and there was about 8-10kw at the wheels difference even with the same ratios
-
yes that's a m42 engine , older style cam sensor , older afm etc , idle control hose probably fallen out of the intake hose or manifold etc
-
they have a little vacuum pump on the engine to make vac for the brake booster , they have seals and o-rings which fail after a while , worth checking them http://bmwfans.info/parts-catalog/E60/Europe/550i-N62N/R-N/2006/browse/engine/vacuum_pump_with_tubes/#7545384_1 also check for oil in the lines . you can open these units up
-
m44 started in july 1995 m42 stopped end of 1995 beginning of 1996 have you checked all your intake hoses etc you got a pic of the engine bay ?
-
normally they say its just like m3 just costs less to service
-
so he loves his cars with the engine in the front bumper
-
yes I just use a spanner but just find one that fits in there , I think some are 18mm bolt head
-
yes have one that's a remapped one , from the days of my e34 540i with a 4.4L
-
yeah lots of dodgy stuff goes on it the states , no wof needed on cars etc ,
-
