  1. Yeah - that sounds like it. Allan wasn't far off Edit: And Rangiora is a suburb of Kaikoura isn't it?"...
  2. Just trying to remember who it was that had done this - someone in the South Island (Kaikoura?) that had an E60 M5. I think he had used these guys. Sorry, not much help without a name I know (I want to say his name was Allan, but could be well off base).
  3. 1:35 - Bob Marley has been reincarnated as a Lada In Soviet Russia car drives you!
  4. Isn't there a list of documentation requirements on the NZTA website? If not, there was someone on here that's done it a few times - just can't put my finger on who it was.
  5. Badass! That thing has got to be a beast to drive - nice buy. Hope you enjoy it!
  6. Not a great surprise considering what I saw on that video
  7. Talk about taking drive it like you stole it to a new level... Only a matter of time before he ends up like a bug in the radiator of something big and heavy.
  8. Probably stripped the mechanism where the arm bolts to the post. A mate did something similar & there was nothing that could be done except replace the entire mechanism... Good luck!
  9. How would you sleep with a curious 15ft python roaming the house & able to open doors?... With one eye open I'm picking.
  10. Now we're well & truly boned... Linky

    ECS Tuning

Looking at getting some stuff for the Golf and came across ECS tuning on the interweb. Anybody here used them? Good, bad or otherwise experience?
  12. Step back to the mid 80's and Volvo were in the top 2 or 3 cars in the ATCC (predecessor to V8 Supercars) with Robbie Francevic....
  13. Wow - my first Beetle had a top speed of 78 mph & extras including 2 speed wipers and hinged quarter windows. Talk about old school....
  14. OK - here's what you do... Wrap the laptop in cling film, then put it in the freezer overnight. Then first thing in the morning, put it back in the box it came in and return it to Dell with a note telling them you aren't qualified to own a laptop. Really?? You've joined a BMW forum to ask about a laptop battery? If you're serious, then Google it. If you're interested in a battery for your X5, you might have the right place.
  15. Sweet car - looks nice. Just needs some discrete gold JPS logos to really take you back to the 80's.
  16. Yes that's correct - xenons must have an automatic adjustment, which is normally based on the suspension travel/position. I don't know what the response time would be though - I would have thought it would be reasonably slow so you don't get big variations with bumps, but do get adjustment when you put a 300kg lump of concrete in the boot.
  17. Ahem - that's the point... So you (the person with the DRL's) is seen. You might want to read this. There are international standards that DRL's must meet - regardless of it being a "newer euros" or an Australian dinosaur. They are all the same (unless you are in the US where the SAE & FMVSS rules are a bit different.
  18. I know of 2 people that have damaged wheels (1x motorcycle, 1x car with both wheels on one side...) on potholes or rocks on the road and the council have fronted up via an insurance claim. They do have an obligation to have well maintained safe roads.
  19. That's precisely their point - they are Daytime Running Lights and are intended for others to see you during the day, not for you to see at night. They must be wired so they can't be turned on when the headlamps are on (not sure if the wiring to do this is the legal requirement, or just that you aren't legally allowed to use DRL's at night or with other headlamps). It's nothing to do with being an Australian car - their ADR lighting regs are based on the ECE rules that almost every other country except the US & Canada use). Eh? They all have to meet the same ECE regulations... BMW fog lamps are no more or less likely to dazzle oncoming drivers.
  20. Isn't that your trademe address though Kyu?

    The bastard child.

    S62 into an series I/II RX7
  22. Any kerbing or damage? Are those photos of the actual wheels or just samples you found on the net?
  23. Depends where is convenient for you... In East Auckland, you can't go past either Botany Motor Worx, or BM Workshop. In the central city, BM Workshop.
  24. Has it sucked some crap (water / rust / dirt) through from the bottom of the tank? Does it have a fuel filter, and have you checked it?
  25. It's definitely not BMW specific... My German former collegaues developed an adaptive lighting system & the first application was a Mercedes S class from memory. Think it hit production in around 2007? I saw a demo in the light tunnel, and even for someone involved with the design & engineering of automotive lighting it was mind blowing how good the bi-xenon adaptive lighting system was. Pity it is so damn expensive.
