    Fork that!

New definition of putting some lead in your pencil? How the hell did he get it in there? Is he hung like a rogue elephant? Guess there was a queue of emergency doctors consulting on the X-ray....

    Fork that!

WTF??? Why would you think that was a good idea?
  3. The Budweiser lizards. Frankie & Louie for the win.
  4. Precision autowerks in Glenfield. They are one of the better outfits around & do plenty of high end work.
  5. Yes it's illegal. It's pretty stupid too - you need headlights to see & tinting them cuts the amount of light they provide.
  6. What makes a classic? The "turn key & pray it starts approach" to electrics & Jesus handles that are more for just show when you overestimate the sweet braking performance of 1968 trying to pull up 3 tonnes of steel.
  7. Yep - either HB3 or HB4. Most definitely not an H7. The housing in the pic is part of that particular bulb type & can't be separated/removed. When replacing the bulb make sure you put it in the right way (filament position is critical) & don't touch the glass....
  8. That looks like the perfect home for an LT5 of the Chevrolet variety.... Except its pink.
  9. I was quoted $1200+gst to have a boot lid painted & guards blended etc on my old e46 coupe. That was with me supplying a mint boot lid with no work required apart from th painting. Best case is you find a mint one in the right colour at a wrecker - try ray or Brent on here.
  10. I'd be getting a workshop to look at this one if it doesn't fire in the morning. I believe that these cars are smart enough that they need a computer reset if you put a new battery in - saw another e65 owner grumbling about it when I picked up my car last time. Certainly sounds like a dead battery to me. I wouldn't go anywhere near jumping it unless you know what you're doing.
  11. Knackered shock? Take it to someone who can diagnose it properly - like a suspension specialist with an in ground shaker pad to test the shocks under load.
  12. Yeah that's the trade off alright. The re002s on my e90 do expose the rattles in the car on chip seal. It's a shopping trolley & family bus with occasional long distance so comfortable ride is more important than high performance.
  13. I suspect it is more to do with the sidewall stiffness giving it a ride like a skateboard on chip seal. I gave them a chance to sell them & both guys at different dealers shied away.... I've gone with the P7s in the end. Will see how they go.
  14. Timely topic... Can anyone recommend a grease suitable for polyurethane bushes?
  15. Ouch! Who needs enemies with mates like that!
  16. RE002's apparently not suitable for a light car like a Golf - they are designed for heavier cars like the 3 series (so a couple of dealers i got prices off told me). I have them on my e90 and they seem to be fine - but not sure they are the best option for the wifes shopping trolley.
  17. I've often wondered that as I've never seen the same symptoms as described.
  18. I guess it depends on your expectations... If the op spends 15k on a high mileage e60 expecting it will only cost the bare minimum to maintain there will be some of those "unexpected" bills.
  19. I guess he message is that the more kms the higher the risk. You may be lucky & never have a problem - but as Dirty Harry said "are you feeling lucky?".... I'd be looking for one with much fewer kms. My 2c worth.
  20. The Golf needs some new boots. Its currently wearing Dunlop Sport Maxx but apparently they are end of life (wasn't that impressed by the wear life on them anyway so not too disappointed). Criteria: - must be quiet & good for touring - good wear - budget of around $200 a corner - no directionals It's a daily driver so no need for high performance, but I won't go anywhere near the cheap imported rubbish. Size is 205/55/16 at the moment but open to suggestions on what I can put on the same rim (will 225's go on there happily?). I've had toyo teo, Pirelli p7, Goodyear eagle & Bridgestone ecopia suggested. Any feedback on any of these? Anything else I should be considering? Ta.
  21. With the diesels there is also the possibility of it swallowing its swirl flaps & destroying the engine. The higher the kms the more chance of the screws loosening unless the blanking mod has been done. Think this was improved on later models though. Personally I think it would be a liability with a deeply unsatisfying sucking sound from the direction of your bank account.
  22. Unlikely that you could comply an E46 now with the new emissions laws. I think up would need o find one already here.

    Touch-up pens?

Dealers sell them for around $18 from memory. Unless your car has been reprinted another colour...
