  1. You seem to be missing the point about putting film on the lens - it changes the photometric properties (which means you can see less when you need them most or you dazzle other drivers because the light scatters all over the place). The legal yellow lamps actually use a tinted lens material - not a film, paint or yellow bulb. And they are legal because they are designed to function in that colour, and still meet the legal performance requirements (with the appropriate testing and certification processes). I agree that the yellow ones can look cool on the right car, but just go and buy some proper yellow headlamps.

    2014 BMW X5

It's one of those designs that you have to question who the hell approved! Much like the first Tribeca where they must have been blind, and the first X1 where it literally fell out of the ugly tree & smacked every branch on the way down. To me it looks like a tacky Chinese knock off of a so-so design. Looks like I'll be moving back to Volkswagen when I eventually sell the E90....
  3. You answered your own question - BMWorkshop.
  4. I suspect that Holden will be not much further behind Ford - I think they already announced a bunch of redundancies recently. They are lucky (smart?) in that their main product is engineered for LHD as well, but the value of the AUD makes it bloody tough to export it and make some cash to pay back the billion dollar development costs. I'd hate to see the NPV at the moment... Agree with Jon - the unions in the industry over there are ridiculous to the point of going out of their way to make business difficult & inefficient. I've seen this personally and was gobsmacked that management hadn't sacked the bloody lot of them already.
  5. Nah - you're just sitting too close to the monitor.
  6. It's like taking Mila Kunis and adding a bikini for a bit more fun in the sun... Likey. Edit: The only thing I don't like is that it isn't my driveway sitting underneath it.
  7. And invalidate the 3 year warranty in the process (unless you are MTA registered)... They get real picky about service intervals, who serviced it and what was done/replaced/inspected if there is ever a claim on a mechanical warranty.
  8. Try the bonnet sensor. Had to do to replace the one in my E90 for precisely this reason - it was a carryover part from the E46 and was known to be flaky.... 25 second replacement job with the bonnet up, around $45 (from memory) from Milland.
  9. Now that's how you choose a name for your company....
  10. The keys are coded - mine changes radio settings, and I think A/C temp to the last setting used on that key.
  11. I want him to come and do the edging around my lawn with that thing.
  12. I'd be resetting the transmission adaptions first.
  13. Yeah but you don't want the fuel system primed (or whatever the hell I can hear on mine) and all the electronics powered up the whole time the key is in the slot. You never know - it may even be powering the coils up in preparation for starting or something equally as unexpected....
  14. Ummm - not sure that's the best idea. I can hear mine doing something every time I unlock it which I've assumed it was priming a fuel pump or something. Either way, I'm not sure what youre planning is such a great idea from an insurance point of view. What's so hard about actually putting the key in the slot? Afterall, you've been physically having to turn the key before now....
  15. It's almost criminal what E46's are getting at the moment....
  16. Errr - maybe that's why it got sold off cheap in the first place?.... Have you asked a local panel beater for a price to do it? Saves renting a rivet & glue guns etc.
  17. I know Gavin at High Velocity comes highly recommended. Haven't done it personally, but others on here have used his services.
  18. Yeah like Glenn says, just do the one that's playing up. The exhaust is easy to get to, but the intake is more difficult and requires taking the air box & vanos solenoid out (in an E46 anyway - there might be a little more room to move in an E39). You will need to have the fault reset - it won't clear itself with just the sensor install. Stay away from the cheap knock off sensors on ebay - if you want to do it yourself, Milland will be able to help out with the the right parts. Or you could take it to Glenn who will no doubt look after you...
  19. Ahhh - you're not in Auckland.... Bummer. Yeah, as you say it's an option in the E90.
  20. Caster I don't know if it can be adjusted on an E39, but if it can't you may have a bent suspension component in there somewhere. Not sure that a worn component would do that but I could be wrong. Was it actually in spec for caster when they measured it?
  21. So the steering isn't returning to the centre after a turn or needs effort to do so? Did they check the caster? Was it doing that before the mod?
  22. Or a 37 Chevy coupe onto a Corvette ZR-1 chassis. That I can understand - the coupe is a classic. But a Ford Granada? What the hell was he smoking....
  23. Or is 2 cars blutacked together...
  24. These guys were doing them for around $280 (from memory) a while back.
  25. Too cheap to be real? No idea what they go for over there, but 4k quid seems overly cheap. Looking at it, this one might be better and you would still get it for around 20k NZD. I agree, seems too cheap....
