Hmm damn, unplugged the nav unit, left for half an hour, fired up, no change. Removed monitor from dash, checked connections. Looks like the monitor has failed
-
Ive tried disconnecting the battery for half an hour, no change. Also tried removing and disconnecting the nav unit, but didnt leave it to sit for a period of time afterwards. Ill give it a shot after work. Cheers

How do you get it to show up on the dash cluster? Keep in mind i dont have steering wheel controls, but i do have the High OBC. Its a completely different beast compared to the old E36. The E39 (even though its not that much more modern) makes my old low k E36 feel old and average. With the better engine, trans and suspension the E39 walks all over the E36 when it was auto (maybe even when it was manual too). Much prefer the E39 interior, and having 4 doors is pretty novel.

Hi Just purchased a 00 E39 (JDM import) and it has the old style 4:3 monitor. Only issue is that the display is completely white, no image or anything. The radio still works and i assume the cd changer will too. I have the original jap nav cd in the unit in the boot. Ive had a nosy and all the connections in the boot are well, connected. Beyond that i dont really know what im looking at in there. Anyone know how to remedy this? Its a real pain navigating the radio stations blind.

Hi all, got some things from when i owned my E36 that i obviously wont be needing anymore. If these dont sell here ill chuck them on trademe. All prices include free postage in NZ (not rural). First up, Pelican Parts jackpad for E36. Goes into jack holes in side of car so you can use a hydraulic jack. Awesome to use, very easy and safe. Used 4-5 times. http://www.pelicanparts.com/BMW/catalog/sh...UPrc36_pg18.htm SOLD. My carsoft 6.5 scanner FINALLY arrived today, after i ordered it from DX late last year. Obviously now i dont own a BMW its not that useful. It comes with the standard ODBII connection and an adaptor for for big round under bonnet connector too. Brand new, never used. Only opened box to check it had the round adaptor. This is for use with serial on computer, but ill include the serial-USB adaptor i also purchased. http://www.dealextreme.com/p/carsoft-6-5-v...interface-16549 http://www.dealextreme.com/p/rs232-to-usb-...rtor-cable-2537 SOLD Lastly i purchased some M3 style mesh for my motorsport bumper which i never fitted. New, only taken out of box to be nosy. Not genuine, but very good quality ABS plastic, in black. Brand new. No pic ATM but can get one on request. $80.

Still forsale. In no hurry to sell, but would love to be able to start my new project. Now has black leather arm rest fitted, and is sitting on just under 83,000k. No longer accepting swaps, cash only. http://www.trademe.co.nz/Browse/Listing.aspx?id=438703524

My armrest arrived today, so decided to fit it. The bits Before (with leather boot pulled up for removal) Chopping up my carpet Just some rubbish OEM screws with sleeves yo After a mish, bracket installed Surround installed And the completed result Very comfy, dont know why all E36s didnt come with it. Was a mission getting the black on black console/leather too.

Yeah it's all good. Turns out the brake circuit error was only recurring due to faulty 3rd party switches (got to the point where I lost all brake lights, and you could wiggle the switch housing and they'd come back on and off). Fit a genuine switch and hasn't been an issue since.

Long time no post. 10/11/11 Small update, Finally got my gearboot sorted, and woah it makes a huge difference in looks and sound (much less road noise). Interior is finally complete Ive also been having issues with the check control bitching about my brake circuit, so fitted a new brake switch (known issue on E36s). Also ticked over 80,000km after work today! 12/11/11 Still got the check control brake circuit error after replacing the switch.... and about two months ago the boot stopped locking with the central locking (when locking car doors boot previously locked too). Having done some digging, seems there is a serious known issue with E36s where the wiring loom into the boot lid degrades over time and the insulation on wires cracks so they can short and if its left long enough, the wires themselves will break. Armed with the knowledge of what to look for, i got home from work and dove in, not knowing for sure what horrors i would find. This is what i found, So all in all, not bad. One snapped wire, and a couple of others that had snapped insulation. Got out the soldering iron and went to work. Rejoined the broken wire, reenforced another and reinsulated the lot. Put it all back together, and yay my boot lock works with central locking again (first world issues, having to use the key to unlock my boot!). Havent been for a decent drive yet so dont know if it fixed the brake circuit issue, but according to the interwebnets it should. Oh, and lols, 13/11/11 Gave her a scrub and replaced the front roundell finally. 1/1/12 Just a small update really, finally tinted my fogs, but confirmed my suspicions.... one fog is OEM ZKW the other is knock off Depo >_<. Gotta replace one or the other as the beam pattern is vastly different. Also just paid for a black leather arm rest assembly, so that should show up some time this week. And since im spending money, i also purchased a carsoft scanner so i can read my codes and stuff (which is also in the mail). Ive been in touch with BimmerWorld regarding their stealth under panels, as my under plastics are all sh*t and zip tied up. I want to either replace the plastics or fit one of those panels when i take the front bumper off to fit my M3 mesh. Done about 10,000km since getting the car now.

Sorted on the arm rest front.

uh, Less leverage, harder to shift/more force required....?

Im guessing its this one, http://www.trademe.co.nz/motors/used-cars/...n-429042455.htm

Lol, was thinking the same thing with the bumper! Looks like a damn good buy, very tidy and low as ks. I remember in another thread you mentioned the leather is just seat covers, what are the seats like under them?
