That E34 looks VERY nice, not so sure on the 635 TBH
-
Had an E34 M5 go past me on Aotea Quay on the way home.... damn tidy! Think its plate was "Ris3n".
-
lower rod is around the right way
-
yeah, turns out the shifter is sitting correctly, but theres a bigger issue.
-
ok, got the seal out. Now ive got an issue, either the shifter is too far back and i cant access 2nd and 4th or if i flip the shifter around it sits to the right and hits the console when i shift to 5th. FML sick of this.

Been ripping the shifter stuff out of my E36 (with getrag) so i can change the shifter bushes (which didnt appear to even exist). Im at the point where i need to remove the oil seal on the selector shaft. I have tried screw drivers, picks, everything really and it will not come out. The gearbox is still in the car and im reluctant to remove it. The seal is well and truly busted up now, and would piss all the box oil out if i tried to drive it. Im in urgent need of some advice on how to remove this stuck seal! Any ideas? its this seal here

E36 BMW 318IS Motorsport, anyone remember the history?

Just FYI saw the car on the motorway again today. Very tidy Fiji green sedan. Plate was WR8886 -
After plenty more driving since getting converted, im kinda thinking i'd like the revs to drop quicker between shifts. Has anyone done a recode on an early 323i with success?
-
So these are number 5 in the diagram? If so, ill take a pair. Can pick up.

The last thing i priced up at a dealer shocked me at how reasonable it was.... i just find it a pain having to call them to check availability then having to sort out picking it up. Rather buy online (where itll tell me availability) and get it shipped to work. Damn technology has made me lazy!

yeah cheers, idea is to replace cats with resonators. Either way its gotta be better than the peashooter i have. tempted to just get an exhaust place to knock up a nice 2.5" single pipe system.
-
As per title, im after a 328i twin pipe exhaust (or an aftermarket system) to replace my single pipe 323i coupe one. Needs to be from the headers back (not including the headers/manifolds themselves). Must be in usable condition, dont care if the cats are stuffed, will be removing them anyway. Im in wellington and would prefer local as i imagine shipping being a pain for a large item like this. Will consider getting it shipped depending on cost. Anyone got one?

Went past a VERY unhappy looking Silver E36 coupe on ACS wheels that had been involved in a pretty bad accident just north of Temuka. Looks like it clipped the back of a bus and went into a field. Easily a write off, but appears the occupants got out ok (doors still opened). Hope its no one from here, and hope theyre alright.

Subarus have O2 sensors....

WANT! oh so much.... cant afford and auck is too far away Gl with the sale, hope it goes to someone that will look after it.

Not much of an update. Just moved, so FINALLY have a garage i can use. So excited! and also did this, Hoping to stop by the dealer tomorrow and grab an oil filter so i can do the oil change it desperately desires on sunday. After that, its shifter bushings, and a decent cut/polish/wax.

Mine has delayed wipe, constant slow wipe, and "violently launch the water off the windscreen" fast constant.
-
That was an AWESOME car. Remember seeing it at turners and going "holy sh*t!" at both the awesomeness and the damage. Wish i was into bimmers back then, would've bought it myself.

Im already running my conversion on the auto ecu. Theres a couple of small things like the revs holding between gears etc that are known issues, if it was easy to recode then i would do it. Otherwise its not worth the effort when the car is already awesome as it is.
-
Could you just swap the whole ECU out for a factory manual one? All this recoding thing sounds like a load of arse and a lot of effort, for gains that thus far arent proven. If it was just a matter of rocking into somewhere, they load a new coding on the ecu and away you go, i'd be keen (but it doesnt appear to be that easy?)

Heard good things about arrowwheels.co.nz up there in auck.
-
IIRC the bolts need to go through plates on the other side of the floor?
-
my 323i had the jatco jerk too.... at 70,000k. I heard it depends on how much start/stop traffic the car was used in, in japan (1st-2nd-1st changes). Ripped the box out and got it converted to manual, best thing you can do to the car if its automagic imo! In terms of things to look out for, as mentioned worn wishbone bushes and ball joints are very common, as are sagging headlinings and loose door trims. The later cars are much better put together though.

i think he was using that trademe photo as an example of the style...?

Only issue i had was wheel spin going up my hill and doing a hill start at the intersection, on a hill in snow with some dimwit atshole stopped right up my ass. Going up the hill when i got wheel spin i just kept my foot in it, feathering throttle (to keep revs high but not bouncing on the limiter). Singlespinner means it just cut through the snow with one tire and went on its way untill it got enough grip to chop second. Wouldnt do it with an LSD though, could get very hairy. That hillstart was a c**t though. Couldnt risk slipping backwards (into the front of the twat very close behind), so had to limit any wheelspin off the line. Did it without issue, but still made me nervous. Glad the snow is gone (for now) tbh
