  1. It should also be said that trademe populates the car information, including the year, automatically from the registration number provided.
  2. oh for craps sake. why is this so hard to understand? BUILD DATE DOES NOT MATTER TO THE MOTOR VEHICLE REGISTER, IT IS FROM YEAR OF FIRST REGISTRATION. Its not misleading. Its not illegal. And in the case of the E92, it barely matters. Anyone that is savvy enough to care about the differences in the same chassis from 08 to 10 will be able to tell its a 2008 car and factor that in. Most other people wouldnt give half a sh*t.
  3. That is bloody beautiful, and really well optioned. Its a lot of money, but i think its worth it to the right person.
  4. By all accounts, it IS a bloody 2010 car. You wouldnt call a car a 2009 if it were built Nov 2009, and first registered Feb 2010. It doesnt work like that. The only time it would be called a 2009 would be if you were referring to it by model year (IE: MY09). We dont know what happened to this car in Japan to make it sit around unregistered for that long, maybe it suffered damage on route to the dealer and took many months fix? That happens too.
  5. Happens a lot. As mentioned, it probably sat on a yard/lot for a couple of years before being registered. Happens at our dealership too, we dont register the car until its sold, but we may have it on the yard for a year or so if its a less than desirable model.
  6. This is exactly what happened to me, and the reason i left State and took all my insurance to a private broker. By word of the contract with State, they could have voided my car insurance if anything happened, because the car was modified and they didnt have the modification details correctly recorded (or recorded at all in same cases).
  7. As he is a bit vague on "new paint job" i wasnt sure if it was original color or some flashy chameleon paint job or something State required that i disclosed everything to them that wasnt original, and only when it exceeded 20% of insured value did they "claim" to have an issue with them. Mind you, i did also find out after years of insurance with them and many modified cars, they hadnt been insuring any of the modifications correctly anyway.... so i dont know.
  8. Isnt talking about cars on Trademe the whole point in the "trademe discussions" section on this site? It seems you may be lost if you're in this section looking for something other than discussions about cars on TM. It should also be said that the OP was asking for opinions on the price, to which people responded. The OP is looking to buy an E23.

    Quick rant thread.

i want to get a foam cannon, but like Olaf im too lazy 90% of the time to set up the water blaster. Easier to just use a hose.

    Quick rant thread.

we use a heated pressure washer at work on every single car, and the only issues we have had were user error (too hot usually). Ive used my water blaster at home a few times to wash my cars, also without issue. In saying that, i dont use it often and using my shaggy mitt thing hasnt caused any swirls yet. Just use the two bucket method with a grit guard.
  11. Speaking of pointless.... ^^
  12. not just BMW, but most manufacturers. Its just a race to who can have the most electronics. Auto/DCT, electronic aids, self driving cars, etc etc, its all aimed at taking the driver out of the car.
  13. +1 dreaming, especially if it needs TLC

oh sheeeit. time to go back to brilliantrot?
  15. most of the stuff you have done would be considered maintenance by the insurer, and wouldnt factor into the insured value. The wheels, steering wheel, sounds and paint will have to be declared as they are modifications, and may increase the value of the car (or more likely, the premium due to increase in risk). I generally just insure the car for a couple of grand more than i paid, and its usually not an issue. If its something special, then it might be worth getting a pro valuation and having that on record. In my experience, insurers just go off straight book/market value for most cars, giving a set range depending on km of the car (high km will be low end of the scale, low km will be higher end). Ive never had anyone ask me if its been well maintained, just that there are no known issues.

    E36 bargain

ive seen electric seats, but where were the memory buttons?

    E36 bargain

My first E36 was "low KM" too, at about 70,000km. Compared to my M3 with 202,000km on the clock, everything felt tired and sloppy. Had to do the front arm bushes and ball joints in the low km, and the jatco box was stuffed.
  18. What a steal! Seriously, are dealers stupid? Yes its low KM (but probably high engine hours), but likely has jatco jerk, and isnt even true motorsport spec. Also, did e36 ever get electric memory seats? http://www.trademe.co.nz/motors/used-cars/bmw/auction-1044886328.htm
  19. Looks to be in great condition, but is it really worth getting over a decent E38 at a similar price?
  20. Not many people agree with me, but i feel that the V10 M5 is the worst sounding M5 of the lot. Doesnt sound like a V10, just sounds ugly. Its also not much of a looker. The E39 is a fantastic looking car, and that engine/trans.... mmm.

    M3 CSL

Wow, thats was quick! Wonder if it stayed in NZ?
  22. I changed my mind. I want to see an M57TUD30... tuned with lots of boost and fuel.

    M3 CSL

Blue. Yellow. Red. Lots of colors better than boring bloody silver! As much as i want to say "that price is crack money, bitches be crazy".... thats a proper collectors car there. I wouldnt even want to drive it much for fear of putting km on it. Its immaculate. Bit of a shame he used stock images or engine bay and interior though. Dont like stock images.
  24. lol, so even more useless in NZ then
  25. haha, i wasnt, just came up in the recently listed list.
