  1. keep up andy. one of the 7 pages mentions he has the us cams. I really enjoy m50 manifold discussions on this forum
  2. can do. I'll need to double check which is m50 and 52. you dont have any part numbers or pictures so i can be sure?
  3. Is this fairly common? what compression should you end up with?
  4. I've got some cam tools if you need them
  5. If you find a nice way to get the fluffy roof stuff off I'd love to know
  6. I've got a getrag 250 in pieces that would argue that. The synchros aren't capable of fast shifts. The zf boxes handle alot more abuse. Hence why people will still pay twice as much for a zf than a getrag If you want an expert opinion talk to Kayne Barrie. I'd assume hes rebuilt more bmw gearboxes than anyone else in the country.
  7. For all this talk off maths and physics, there seems to be a lack of numbers and examples in this thread. This is a fairly good example. http://forum.evotechnik.net/showthread.php?38476-BMW-328i-difference-between-remap-and-m50-manifold-no-remap-graph-bwchiptune
  8. wayney gets them made in china. Physically they are very different. Google search and you'll see Seems the m3 headers usually go for nearly $900 I've got a set sitting on my engine and they come very close in some spots. There are a few people that run them without problems. I might've just got some tweaked ones
  9. vac line for fuel pressure regulator
  10. If you have all the pieces why not slap it on and give it a try.
  11. needs a cert. sfactor do sell very nice products and are great to deal with. Get some camber and castor adjustable ones. Castor is good Why do you need more camber up the front?
  12. Mig welding stainless is very difficult(in my opinion) unless you've got a mig worth more then $10k. Especially butt welding tube. I'm sure you can probably get a weld that seals using your general mig. But I'll bet you wouldn't be proud of what you've done If you've got the gear to purge it and your tig welding you'll have a good time If it's ok to poo it up, poo it up
  13. It will make a difference. An exhaust manifold is I highly stressed environment with high temps and vibration. Using the wrong welding wire will lead to cracks. Not purging stainless exhausts is also undesirable. I'm fairly sure 3pedals is right

Troy- I didn't realize you could change the logging frequency on the DTA. Does it record to a SD Card? Which wideband are you using? and how do you find it Josh- 3 knock sensors is a few. BMW went a bit overkill with the s50 engines. I've got a lot of learning to do before reverse engineering the racepak gear(I don't plan on doing it). Even a basic can bus seems like wizardry to me. You wouldn't have any links to books or sites that'll teach me a bit about the subject?

Are you doing gear position via calculation or do you run a some sort of hall effect arrangement at the shifter? I didn't realize the injectors in the s50's were batch fired. Or have you grouped them together for a simpler display? Out of interest do you find any one cylinder is more likely to knock on your engine? The only slight let down about racepak is you get stuck with the vnet system. The only cheap way(i know) of adding a lot of sensors is to attach it to a supported aftermarket ecu.
  16. If you want to compare your mod to stock back to back, i've got a spare that you can have. It'll be in the rubbish after the weekend

Andrew- I've currently had some attempts at logging. I'm fairly familiar with logging engine parameters due to tuning a couple of engines and a little bit of practice on a dyno. I've got a few friends with drag cars and bikes that we will be attaching the logger to. Currently I've just used the basic built in sensors (gps, gforce, and battery voltage). I've also got 2 shock travel sensors(which can be recorded at 1000hz)and an rpm sensor that i've yet to try. If I find some time i'll install it and take some basic logs to show what I'm up to. Josh- It really is a beautiful piece of kit. I'd hate to think the amount of hard work has gone into it.
  18. M50 gear. Check out my other listings for other bits http://www.trademe.co.nz/Browse/Listing.aspx?id=714393270 e36 msport wheels and tyres x5. $100 If you can come collect this weekend i'll let them go for $60 if you take my other tyres you can have them for $50 e36 strut tops and spring spacers. Spring spacers are about 25mm and were used to get a little more ride height with too low springs Free if collected this weekend. Otherwise $5 a pair e36 springs. Not sure if they're the motorsport ones I had or something else. Also free if collected this weekend. Otherwise going to scrap metal man. e36 lowering springs $20 this weekend. Otherwise $40. Think they are dobisport
  19. I've got a set that I just found. Second hand but in good condition. $10 plus postage

I'm just interested in finding out 1. Who's using it? 2. By what means are you using it?(standalone datalogger, ecu, cameras, etc) 3. What are you logging? e.g what sensors are you using 4. What are you trying to achieve by datalogging? looking for the smaller picture, not just quicker lap times Reason for all this is I picked up a racepak G2X pro and I'm looking to get more use from it. It's a fairly advance piece of kit(although the rest of the market seems to be catching up in leaps and bounds atm) that I still haven't been making the most of. I'd like to buy a few more vnet sensors and cables. But there is such a large choice that I'm not sure where to start any-who dump your load on me and share whatever info you can
  21. If it were me i'd just put it in one. Either way your making a compromise. From standard if one cylinder is running quite lean and another quite rich the ecu wont be able to see this. this way you just miss out on an entire manifold from the start
  22. You do not need a cert. authority card will cover it. Look on the Motorsport website for exact rules
