  1. Motronic 55 pins are usually found on m20 and m30's right. Which megasquirt are you using?
  2. Looks like a vr sensor and being 2 wire it probably is. There is plenty of info about the lm1815 chips - you could just copy how the circuit they are on in a megasquirt (ill dig you out more info if you need). - another option is look through the examples on the datasheet The max chips are a lot better but probably not necessary for just reading rpm and the tiny size of them makes a bit less user friendly Again the datasheet has a good example of how to use. Either way i think Troy has you sorted- what chip are you using?
  3. Do you actually need an analog output or just 4 square wave pulses per rpm like the hall effect sensor used to put out? If this is the case you could use a max9924 (although qsop chips are tiny) or an lm1815. Anyone know of a qsop adapter that is available locally
  4. A 318 weighs less than a 328. Also a 325 weighs more than a 328. The weight differences aren't that much. I must've been having a bad day and was nit picking over something that really doesn't matter.

  12. What sort of budget do you have for an ecu? If learning is the most important part about the ecu get a megasquirt. To be more specific get a ms1v3. They are cheap, you will run into problems that'll take you to distant parts of the internet. It'll really help your problem solving ability as well. And finally you can upgrade it to a ms2 or ms3. Another cheaper and more challenging option is speeduino. It is an arduino based ecu that uses the same tuning soft ware as ms(tunerstudio). A link g4 atom is a pretty cheap locally supported option (or I've got a link g4 extreme for sale for a little bit more). If your looking at a haltech ecu you should also check out life ecus. But at this stage you're looking at quite a good chunk of money. If you want to spend more I can continue. I've only had experience with early and g4 links and megasquirt ecus, everything else is just going off features and online reputation

    Call speedfactor in Tauranga. Personally i"ve gone for an s50 oil filter housing with the lines built in. There are a few American options but the NZD sucks atm

  19. Ill save you some money from the start. Your pod filter isn't going to free up any power. Give it a good service. Fix any and all current issues. Overhaul cooling system. Get some cams, m3 headers and a remap.
  20. Your talking to the wrong engineers or paying in the wrong currency. Guys at my work have worked 5+ hours on a weekend for a box of piss. If someone wants me to replicate a couple i'd be keen. (i'm not here to make money, although the beer fridge is quite empty) I've got access to cad software, profile cutters work across the road from my work, i've got a folder at work that will be fine with 3mm stainless and can weld it as well.

  22. Just get a jewelry ultrasonic cleaner. They aren't too pricey. I've got an arduino somewhere in my junk pile that was 75% ready to do flow testing. Gave up because it is much easier to just use a megasquirt I've got lying around
  23. The reason it clogs/ rusts shut your injectors is because ethanol is hygroscopic. So just like your brake fluid, it will absorb water. You can get e85 compatible parts for the fuel system. Everyone knows the benefits of e85 so i don't need to rant on too much To make the most of it you'll want an aftermarket ecu that will handle a flex fuel sensor. Some ecu's are a lot better than others in this area. e85 from the pump might not really be e85
