  4. black car needs the chrome grills i reckon esp the little grills like e30 and e34 and e32
  5. likely, but 3300 ks a year???? when is low ks too low.....has the thing EVER been at proper operating temp?
  6. its the turbo thats done it...i reckon a whole generation of direct injection mid capacity LPT petrol engined cars could change motoring too
  7. there arent any manual deisel pugs on TM(ok ther might be one)
  8. that is central city AK style,,where at 5 oclock it can take 9 cycles to get through a set of traffic lights and you go down the end of the street to the motorway and find that it is barely moving
  9. when i got the car it was a central city dweller,the obc said 17 l 100 k
  10. the best i have ever got was 27 mpg, 10.4 l 100 ks on the first weekend i ever owned it,auckland, hamilton, tauraunga wellington waimaramara wellington.just me in the car for the trip from ak to welly but two adults i child and lots of luggage 2 week holiday incl two bikes. Its the only aspect of the car i am disapointed with.I beleive the cars with o2 sensors/cats get better mileage. The nz ones didnt because we still had leaded gas then.I almost always get 550 600 ks for 62 liitres on my welly tauraunga trips,i dont thrash it but i dont get passed very often either.3rd gear is awesome for uphill passing manouvres
  11. enlarge pic 9 and see if you can see the colour,Is it really a 5 spd?
  12. agreed, the 530d i drove was really nice, but i think i would get bored.Everynow and then i give the ol 535 a rev up and it completely changes character at about 3500-4000 rpm. The 530 had two or three traits that identified it as a deisel. The engine note was more basso the a 530 petrol. At traffic lights there is about a car length or two of not much urge.If you are surrounded by other vehicles or next to a solid fence you can hear the distictive deisel rattle at idel
  13. gearing and more modern design. The M 30 is OLD.The e34 was also relatively low geared to get the last bit of accelleration outa the old girl.My 535 is sits at about 2250 at 100 ks,whereas the 635 a mate had was about 1800 rpm
  14. 540 is prolly slightly better than 535 on gas as well
  15. i hate the smeel of deisel.I f ihad a deisel car i would end up haveing special shoes and gloves for use at fill up time.Modern deisels are nice to drive i would like to try a manual 530 or 535 deisel or a dsg skoda or vw
  16. the average punter/car dealer prolly has a different view of immaculate to a BMW enthusisast looking at arguably the ULTIMATE bmw

  19. be very careful with rust in uk cars. The salt on the roads in winter does damage we dont see in NZ
  20. there are opportunities for good value E39 M5 at the moment
  21. the silver m5 with the two tone interior looks a minter...would prefer a facelift one though
