FYI All E39 M5s are fitted exclusively with 18-inch M Parallel Spoke II cast alloy wheels featuring a Satin Chrome finish. These wheels, which measure 8x18-inch (front) and 9.5x18-inch (rear) and wear staggered 245/40ZR18 (front) and 275/35ZR18 (rear) tires, are specific to the E39 M5

i also think the k series(if not all) the bmw motorcycles also use this process without issues
-
not always some earlier ones dont and some later ones still do

i have heard that e 39 M5(s62) do this too, some do some dont, the special 10w60 is supposed to be better, and there is also some talk that piston rings were improved/changed at some point

could be but i would prolly make it a two or three day affair,ie invercargill queenstown then those awesome roads around tekapo, then maybe back over the haast,up the coast back over to chch, etc etc ,almost a circumnavigation including figure eights of the south island(snow permitting).I could maybe pick you up in chch for the second half?

doesnt the traction control work by comapring the speed of one wheel compared to the other. If the lsd limits the spin of the wheel with no traction the traction control might no know the wheels are actually spinning, but together.Does an lsd lock up straight away or is there a period of no lock up at all.TC may then knock the power back before the lsd locks up?

yes,a hard lesson for a young un....thats the price of buying second hand...all wreckers are like that its just pot luck for them too really!
-
very rare here,M5s are very rare here too.http://autos.groups.yahoo.com/group/BMW540iLE/ these guys might be able to help,I think there is a similar aussie group for the e34 M5.There was a e 34 540 with the six speed gearbox wrecked recently over there
-
assuming the wheels are the same diameter are they the same width??We need more info!
-
hmm that must make it difficult, every other person must have trouble
-
does the E36 suffer problems with The LKM like the e34????(a question to 3 series gurus and pewrhaps a pointer to the problem)
-
that would seem the only way to solve the problem.Do other people also use the trailer ?
