  1. 550i! I have toyed with the idea of one of those a few times
  2. Not wasted you now know the status of two auto transmissions!
  3. well done all esp the people who put themselves out there to organise it
  4. in my experience the BMW car club is no different to any other club. There are cliques, there may be some snobs and there are plenty of normal people, but you have to make some steps too. Most of the people that belong to the car club are not your normal BMW buyer, they are BMW nuts. Some are the anorak wearing types who insist on total BMW but it is the BMW car club. When i fist joined the car club in 2002 iwas on the commettee in wellington the next year.My 1990 E34 was the NEWEST car on the committee.
  5. yes i hated them at first but i reallyy like the motorsport versions now,and the interiors are nice too
  6. Seems thete is some kind of reverse snobbery going on here.Just cos I am older with a bit of cash and dont do any of my own work I am not good enough for bimmersport. An interest and passion for BMW is not enough?
  7. i think that the original bimmersport bought a lot of BMW enthusiasts together at one point in time. That time also coincided with the dramatic decrease in used BMW prices bought about by lots of Japanese imports.A lot of the BMW enthusiasts have moved on and they have been replaced by a younger crowd with enthusiasm for modded cars with an enthusiasm for bmws,as a side interest rather than the main interest.
  8. what about my wheels to the fella in Auckland...have PMd you but you must be busy!
  9. I might be able to organise blenheim to tauraunga, but at end of month
  10. a few more details may enlighten some people with resouces
  11. be careful skimming rotors. If you go over 400 you dont always have to pay gst etc...its the luck of the draw.Do you feel lucky? Do ya??
  12. brake fluid absorbs moisture from the atmosphere. It can absorb so much moisture it can cause pockets of steam in a hot system, and or start corrosion of brake components.Thats why you need to replace it every two years max.Any brake work is an good excuse to get rid of the old stuff
  13. At the end of the day its your car!
  14. i had a e34 535,the brakes were more than adequate, with a "stiff pedal",the 540s i drove were not as positive.I think you need to tell us what you think is wrong and or what you want to acheive. There is a LOT of information and knowlwedge on the internet about e 34s.The v8s had limited room so have a different(inferior imho) to the 6's.
  15. no difference in ecomomy maybe slightly better.I bought the car at about 80 ks chipped it almost straight away, sold it approaching 160k car still on the forum.NZ performance tuning did mine for about $900
  16. the 120d was much nicer to drive AND was faster revving and lees drastic tail of of the power at high(er) revs after the "chip"
  17. its amazing the number of people who have no lights on at all when it starts to get dim or visibility is reduced .I reckon i see someone driving with no lights on at all every time i am out at night, ussually around town tho
  18. concrete buildings = immoveable object. They dont move a miilimeter,so the energy is absorbed totally by the car, nearly two tonnnes moving at 15 km hr is a lot of energy to just stop dead.If you hit another car the energy is at least halved cos he crumples too.
  19. second hand panels but paint is the pity.Looks nice inthe pic too sucks eh
  20. yep run flats.I got a puncture one day the runflat indicator cam on while i was doing 100 ks in the outside lane onf SH2.Knowing i couldnt do anything anyway i just kept going, no noise or any other signs of a flat.i had only a k or 2 ax to exit.I stopped as soon as i could once of the motorway, tyre was def soft, had about 20 in it at that point.Pumped it up again at nearest garage was very warm to touch warmer than other front but not really hot.Was losing small ammount each day. When i took it into my normal shop they wouldnt fix it as they said there was no way they could tell if it had been damaged. Looked fine. So the new owner of my car got a brand new tyre, happened only a few days before i sold it.
