  4. i beleive the real price adjustment is only a few years away. These sorts of prices are just not sustainable.I was looking at an apartment in welly town.It was quite a nice aprtment and seemed about 100,000 too cheap. The catch was it was leasehold. For the privelige of living in this aprtment you paid 11000 every year, linked to inflation. Are they &^%$# mad?why would you pay rent AND a mortgage!

    BMW

you will miss the torque...sure they have more power but not much and at higher revs ,and the torque is pathetic.I think the others are right it will take a 3l petrol or at least a 2 litre turbo petrol to replace the diesel

    4x4 tires

you might also need to state wether they are for purely road work or for 4x4 stuff and if so what sort of 4x4 stuff do you do and if you drive a lot on the road as well?
  14. as is true for most things allan!
  15. not comparable tyre sizes but in my experience Pirellis are better in comfort and noise than either contis or bridgestones see above
  16. thats one thing about Wellington that is often overlooked by out of towners. We have two good rail lines into the city ,from waikanae through paraparaumu, porirua tawa and into the city. The other is From Upper Hutt down through the hutt valley and into the city. The Wellington bus service is pretty good for commuters too.As you have already stated you will find it difficult to get a double garage,They are there(or tandems garages, but rare.Much more common out inthe suburds jville north, lower hutt and north. out where the housing stock is 70s and newer.Closer in most of the housing is 50s or older, when garages where rare. There is also a rail line from J ville in to town but its only a smal line .The trains also run in from the Wairarapa.People come in from 100 k away If you wan to know about commuting in welly go here http://www.metlink.org.nz/.If you can get near a bus route or rail station half the hassle of commuting by car is gone.(Of course public transport has its own hassles)
  17. you should do some research of your own too,but i will tell you what i have learned.I have a 120d which has the std 205 55 16 tyres, and they are run flats. When i got it it had two bridgestone (turanza?) and two continentals...sorry cant remember exact type. They were quite harsh riding and fairly noisy on anything but the smooth hotmix. This is is comparison to 235 45 17 on my old e34.On the smooth roads though they were very nice, and their stiffness makes for good handling and feedback.I had to replace two right on xmas time(2 yrs ago)I couldnt get bridgestones or contis.I was offered Hankooks,i passed.I eventually found a pair of pirellis,p7s and they were $400 each. They seemed better riding though .I have just replaced the contis so am now on 4 pirellis. The second pair were just over 300 each from the same place. They are definetly better riding than the contis which are better riding than the bridgestones.I can t comment on wear yet.The original pair seem fine.

  20. on the rare occasion my 535 saw the inside of the dealers workshop(ie they have a deal on oil services or warrants.it used to get the castrol synthetic.I used to buy 6l at a time and a filter from the dealer for a good price too.Considering you would have to buy 8l from repco or wherever.
