i dont think now is a good time to be selling such a car.I had very very little interest in mine.I dont know why and i cant say that it will be better say in 6 months time.My 2c
-
yes i did get caught out once not long after i bought the 535 i got a puncture in the left rear and when I removed the wheel i found that tihe inside of the tyre was nearly down to the cords. The other rear was the same.I then kept an eye on the rear and never rotated the tyres from front left to right rear etc,the tyres always stayed on the same side, cos the fronts wore the outside and the rears tended to wear the inside.I dont know if this s why BMW recomend NOT to rotate tyres.
-
you dont have to buy a whole set of new tyres for the example The OP posted. Its a fact of life that owning a car can be an expensive business. However an unsafe car is a unsafe car and i would hope that most of us here know whats up without being told by a man in a pair of overalls every six months
-
I find it quite amusing you guys KNOW your cars are not safe yet take the pass as some kind of WIN.Who is losing again?. The only time i failed a warrant for tyres was similar to this..some kind of difference on the same axle, cant quite rember now,i just swapped the spare in

the blue one sold from Chch a couple of years ago is prolly the nicest i have seen. These are nice cars and i would pay over the odds for one.But only a very very nice one is goiing to be worth a lot more than any other BMW,and the market is correspondingly small.
-
The problem with this premise is that as the car is relatively rare sales are few and far between to set a market value.Depending on its condition and service history i would say its value is somewhere between 8 and 15.Only an absolute minter will get near the latter figure imho
-
the value is what you paid for it.
-
make yer pics a bit smaller or upload to photobucket or flickr or something and linky,Send me a pic if you like and i will do it([email protected])
-
it is but only if you are that way inclined...i wouldnt have tracked my 535 i dont think

this is the site that simon mentioned http://autos.groups.yahoo.com/group/540iE346Speed/ if your car is a real msport stephan will know by the vin,and if you take your vin to a BMW dealer they will be able to print you out a build sheet showing all options as ordered/delivered this is an Aussie site for the 72 540 i LE they got,six speed manuals with some nice stuff http://autos.groups.yahoo.com/group/BMW540iLE/
-
saw my old car on the motorway looking good, may have been lowered slightly?
-
a msport prolly wont suit him either then. The m sports ride significantly harder than non m sports
-
i wouldnt expect to see any thing other than routine serviceing up till that mileage, but the whole point is to see that it has been serviced regularly At 160k you might be looking at cooling system parts. The others might know about cambelts etc.
-
i think you need to drive a few cars first. The problem with BMWs for beginners is there is a bewildering number of models, they can look similar but can vary widely in price . A 545 is a hugely different car than a 318.It probably cost twice as much when new.
-
never thought i would say this but it needs a wee drop
-
german swear words too of course

OT can you use an existing dvd recorder to copy or record a program with a mysky box if you want to share(ssay moto gp) with a mate?
-

-
ther is the e39 guide here somewhere too..Ya cant go wrong with them i reckon.
-
they will also have the ll01 "softec" 5 w 30(or they used to)
-
go to a bmw dealer and get some 10w 60 castrol synthetic, take your own containers and get the quantity you need
-
with deisel be aware that road user charges are about 5 c kilometre. The mileage and the torque are still worth it tho.To put it in perspective that 5c a k adds about 30 bucks a tank for my little 120d.
