  4. car club members get a small discount at the dealers.Try an independent bmw service place they may be able to source oe at slightly better rates. As perverse at it may sound I do try to support the dealer when i can, they are the source of all our cars at some point!
  5. i mean the round town figure, your open road mileage is better than the e34 but round town isnt.My round town is pretty easy as far as round town goes.
  6. ok here goes ( i fill up tomorrow for a round town figure) open road figures including open road ,and driving around auckland and hamilton, tokoroa, auckland hamilton, tauraunga, levin 892 ks 48.6 thats 5.44 l 100 ks road user charges is about 5 c km the bloody thing is doing about 1750revs at 110 k and sits on 3-4 l 100 k if you are careful with the throttle on the flat, and on a smooth road is really quiet and can creep up to 120-130 without any increase in noise. On coarse chip tho the run flats are awful! round town figures tomorrow
  7. you quite right, thats why they are just as popular as a totota corrolla
  8. if you want economy see if you find a 530d(diesel) rare but worth it if you want torque and economy, they dont have the top end rush or outright horsepower of a equivalent petrol car but have thir own attributes.if you get a chance drive one
  9. not sure if the e36 suffers from the stuck heater valves that the e34 does or not,but that could be your problem.Do you have "auto" air con ?.Post a pic of your heater controls, the e36 guys will be able to help
  10. i have heard if the radar is set to auto lock you dont have time to respond.
  11. meh....all autos....are they dsg or a "std auto" and that includes "tiptronics"
  12. i dont know what charger you are talking about, but what I mean is a proper smart trickle charger, which would be clipped onto the battery terminals or onto the terminals in the engine compartment.I beleive that you dont have to disconnect the battery from the car when using a charger, after all the alternator charges the battery doesnt it?.However i always disconnect the battery when i charge it,but this is a big charger for when the battery goes flat(ussually because i have left the parking lights on all day) There may be leads available to allow you to just have a lead in the boot to plug the trickle chager in .This is the sort of thing the northern americans and canadians would do every winter. If you are seriously looking to store the car for a year i think there will be some information in the owners manual, and you would need to consider fuel stabilisers and getting the weight of the car of the tyres
  13. yes but it has to be a good run
  14. i guess they are all the same, but maybe a measurement perpendicular across the flats would be good.I used to have two but i think i gave one away....
  15. praps invest in a smart trickle charger......If you do drive make it a good one,not just a trip round the block make it long enough so everything is up to temp for a good while, and run the aircon and cycle the heater through hot and cold
  16. plus one but maybe no other option at this time of year
  17. $5000 i thought i was happy with 500 views! There are obviously many many ninjas about
  18. make sure the wheels are up to the weight of the car.The original rims that came with my 535 were very easy to bend......i bent them twice, once when i got a puncture and once when i hit a biggish pothole. Not big bends but enough to cause a shimmy
