    Summer Work

So I'm taking it she needs mech or elec eng. hours? ie not structural or civil or geotech?
  3. For a really good deal on some new ones, see our Forum Sponsor
  4. The size in your thread title (385/12/22) could just about legally be fitted to e30 if spaced out enough! Correct size on 22's is 385/10/22, or in a 15 series a 205/15/22 would so work! Not much sidewall though!
  5. Cheers - I need to tidy that thread up, half the pics have gone AWOL. Plus I have a bunch of new pics with some subtle changes. I'm loving those rims of yours. I know why Sam is the way he is - too many nice rims around for e30s to only have 1 set!
  6. God, I can't make my mind up whether I like the fake wood panelling or hate it! I do know I hate the rear numberplate panel filler - yuk!

    And the numbers were?
  8. Image are badass. And priced to match. Cracks me up that such a good wheel brand has such a sh*t name, and even shitter logo. Simon - search for image wheels and look at their cast designs (billet will run you too much I suspect).
  9. Black pudding anyone - mmmmm. We grow our own beef and swap beef for lamb with the neighbours. Need more bacon though. Can't get enough bacon. And I'm too lazy to go into the bush to get some.
  10. Any decent exhaust shop would be able to sort you out for around half that (give or take) for an oem-stlye exhaust. A tad more if you want a performance item.
  11. Tuff. I like how its coming along - will be a weapon!
  12. I think you're about right for the $4-5k. More or less original 325i manual with LSD, a few extras, and in a popular colour. I've successfully argued the value of a written off car with an insurance co. had a mint 1-owner mk I escort that was written off when a van went up its arse. They were going to pay $2k as that was the going rate. This thing was mint - all original, 1 owner before me, perfect. Had a classic car valuer come take a look and valued it at $5k. I got my $5k, and got to keep the wreck which I later sold for another $500. My e30 is valued at what I'd expect to have to pay to get something remotely similar, and even then I probably wouldn't be able to - too many mods and money spent. If I had to claim, and the insurance co kicked up a stink I'd probably take them to small claims and probably win (small claims tends to favour you if you're truly been hard done by, and not just being greedy - they work on the theory that my hardship of not getting paid out what the car is worth is worse than the insurance co's hardship of paying the extra). They're supposed to put you back in the position you were in before the accident happened. I've had my fair share of fights with insurance companies, and I find if you get the right person on the phone, argue your case, don't get emotional, and stick to facts, you usually get what you want.
  13. You can get cheap nylon ones made up. I had some aluminium ones machined and pressed into my wheels (permanent solution) cost me over $80, but I didn't want to f**k around. Cheers for the props Kaz!
  14. What does he want for it? If start is not too far from reserve, thats about where prices have been for the last 4 years (with the exception of the sh*t-quality or un-registerable examples from TWR). Also, I'm not worried about the RHD conversions as long as they were done properly. LHD cars are a pain to drive on nz roads, and if it means the price is a touch less due to lack of originality, thats a good thing also. You still have one hell of a badass e30 - who cares if the wheel has changed sides?
  15. Jeez, you kept quiet about this one! Have a good 'un. I'll feel hungover on your behalf.

And all of them sound like sh*t - ever followed a 'tezz being weilded in anger? Exhaust tone is the gay, both with factory exhaust and fart can.

    Google Chrome

Serious? I thought it was under 20%. Also, works a shitload better than IE.
  18. Mint car. Have you considered swapping the wheels?? Something like style 5's would look mint!

    HB Paul! (kiwi535)

Have a good 'un. Make sure you take a well earned break from all that welly bmw club organising stuff.
  20. OMG! Imola red e39!!! never seen one before - hotness!
  21. Hey man, been a long time since we caught up properly. Been hearing exciting things on the grapevine. Keep the roof up, the wheels down, gas in the tank, and have a good one. I'm having a beer for you as I type...

    $US vs $NZ

I have been watching it. predictions change daily. Short term being the hardest to predict. give it 6-12 months and it wil probably strengthen from its current position (ie now is a bad time to buy $US), but over the next 3 months it could go either way depending on a huge number of factors.
  23. I know its easy to generalise (and wrong), but Glenn has a point about people choosing not to work. Case in point: A young staff member we hired of a particularly vocal racial minority (esp. when it comes to supposed unfair treatment and claims of lack of opportunities) was given an opportunity few (none?) his age (17, now 18) or education level (dropped out in 5th form)would get. We gave him a job paying just over minimum wage. Working conditions are fairly good, hours reasonable (4.30pm knock-off, 1 hour lunch break), varied and interesting work. He also received flexibility in taking leave, we paid him sick pay before he had been with us 3 months (not required to by law), and paid for him to undergo work-based training for an industry qualification (at a cost of several hundred dollars plus travel and wages). He was a hard worker and so after a few months we upped his pay to what I consider excellent money for someone in his position. (He agreed mind you). A few weeks after his 18th birthday thigs started to go down hill with absences from work and so on. he received verbal warnings and we tried to help give him motivation to come to work, etc. Then one day without warning he didn't turn up. That was 2 weeks ago and we still havn't heard anything or been able to get hold of him. I managed to get hold of a family member who told me "he just can't be bothered coming to work". How stupid can you be? If he had stayed with us for 4 or 5 years we would have trained up to technician level and he would receive (in todays money) around $45-50k, and been working in some of the best working conditions in any company I've worked for. He threw it all away to get on the piss. And they claim - its not our fault, we just don't get the opportunities other sectors of society do. bullshit. PS. Anyone want a job? Starting just above min. wage? I'd hate to think how much he's cost the company in wasted time and money.
